La edición norteamericana producida por London Records se llamó England's Newest Hit Makers, e incluía una versión de 'Not Fade Away', de #BuddyHolly y #NormanPetty. I’m trying 🤷♀️ so on day 4 I had what’s I believe referred to as a ‘false rise’ with my starter. Slim bubbled and was smelly and doubled. Since then Slim has gone rather flat and while it would have some bubbles it hasn’t been none too impressive! So today I decided it was time to not add the whole wheat flour but added unbleached all purpose white to the mixture in hopes it’ll awaken! Oh, and I played it music. 1000 Day Album Challenge ( #13) The Rolling Stones: The Rolling Stones (1964) [13.01.24] I hear the knock on my door that never comes / I hear the telephone that hasn't rung… The Rolling Stones released their stunning debut in the UK in April of 1964. nine out of twelve tunes were covers of primarily Rock & Roll, Blues and R&B songs. I had already been lured in by The Stones fertile peak of 1968 through 1972 which consisted of four stone cold classics - Beggar’s Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street. in certain respects this album is an introduction to who The Stones love. leading off with the definitive version of Route 66, originally recorded by the Nat King Cole Trio, they proceed to cover Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Bo Diddley, Slim Harpo, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Gene Allison and Rufus Thomas. all of these versions are good to great and I would even choose their take on Carol over Chuck Berry’s. without I’m A King Bee on this album and Shake Your Hips on Exile I might never have even checked out Slim Harpo. my musical world would be at least a little bit lesser for that. the U.S. version of their debut (England's Newest Hit Makers) replaces Bo Diddley’s Mona (I Need You Baby) with their cover of Buddy Holly’s Not Fade Away and gives it the poll position on the release. just like their version of Route 66, this is the definitive as far as I’m concerned. Influenced in style by Jimmy Reed, he began performing in Baton Rouge bars using the name "Harmonica Slim", and also accompanied his brother-in-law Lightnin' Slim in live performances. He started his recording career in March 1957. To differentiate himself from another performer called Harmonica Slim he took his wife's suggestion and adopted the name Slim Harpo. His first solo release, was "I'm a King Bee", backed with "I Got Love If You Want It". He followed up with several more singles and his first chart hit, "Rainin' in My Heart", in early 1961. Many of his songs were co-written with his wife, Lovelle Moore, although she never received credit. Never a full-time musician, Harpo owned a trucking business during the 1960s. But, by 1964, several of his songs had been released on albums and singles in the UK, and British rock bands began to include versions of his songs in their early repertoires. He recruited Lightnin' Slim for his touring band in 1968, and toured widely in the late 1960s, mainly reaching rock audiences. With his first scheduled tour of Europe and recording sessions already planned, one of the cleanest living bluesmen of his era died suddenly of a heart attack in Baton Rouge in January 1970 aged 46.
