✒️ Got myself some ink tats👆🏻😉 I have been unsure about this post for many reasons, but mainly because that ‘naughty voice’ is telling me I’m a failure to post it, and I’ve let everyone down.🤔 However, that’s actually the old me and she’s long gone ! 📊 I’m not a statistic. I’m not a label. I’m ME and this is my story. So here we are 👆🏻 I had an intuition recently to get a check of my right breast (the one where I had my surgery). As usual my intuition was right. My last scan didn’t even pick this up, I did. (Lesson right there). I had a new breast cancer in the area where I had my previous surgeries. I had surgery this week to have it removed. My fourth surgery now. I’m recovering well and it was lovely to head home today. A big thank you to the hospital staff, doctors and nurses who were incredible and looked after me very well. No head tilts please, just lots of prayers and loving intention. 😉🙏🏻💖 How different I feel this time. I have a tool box. My intentions … To continue to #unravel 👷♀️Building on that mind body connection, knowing when to move and when to rest. 😴 Resting will be non-negotiable if that’s what I need to do that day. ❌ To continue being mindful of what I consume both in and outside of my body. ✅ To continue to stay true to my core beliefs and what I believe God put me here for. Specifically my children and my family. Giving myself and them space. Keeping my life as simple and basic as I can. 👉🏻 To continue to share some of my health knowledge and experience. Sharing the tools and modalities. 💃🏼 To continue to spread my message of hope and positivity. Showing you that you can LIVE life with and well beyond a diagnosis. It’s not ideal, but life isn’t, and this is simply the next part of my story. So I will share (bits I feel I can) with you, because that’s why I set up this page after all. Like for many of the paintings in this series, Journal writing may have triggered the painting, or vice versa, but for some reason, the two activities have always joined hands in walking me through the problem-solving, ruminating, stewing process. Eventually, I come out the other end able to pinpoint the issue, unintelligible prior. I work my way through some possible solutions, even if one of those is simply acceptance and gratefulness in that which I cannot change. "Unravelling" represents the beginning stages of this process, when my thoughts and feeling and insides are wrapped up as tight as rubber bands inside a golfball. Through prayer, meditation, calm and listening, I allow my thoughts to begin loosening their grip in the cool currents of time and gradually unravel their ends as they make their way to the surface, where creativity can find voice once again. This is the inspiration of the artist, but certainly not the whole picture! As in any painting or piece of art, the viewer is an important part in the art process. You, the viewer, connects with art through your own lens, making your own meaning based on personal and global experiences, values, perspectives and beliefs. Because of this, any artwork may communicate a far different meaning to you, and to each of us. Everything from awe and reverence of the beauty, to outrage of the organization's misuse of power, multiple genocides and sheer greed. Each emotion was more and more intense, and on more than one occasion I had to deliberately step out of judgement, for nothing more than my own heart and spirit; the Village Weeper was DEFINITELY present. A once in a lifetime opportunity to sit and pray for healing for All. As within , so without, as above , so below. An unpicking and unravelling story... cue the violins! 😭🎻 We went away over the Easter break, and I got some knitting time in to work on one of my current wips, a jumper for hubby. I stitched the sides and one of the sleeves on and was halfway through knitting the other sleeve. Progress! We did a fit check and realised the top of the arm was a little tight. I want it to be perfect, so I said not to worry, I will unpick the seaming and frog the sleeve and cast off looser for a more comfortable fit. It's disheartening, but not the worst thing. I decided to measure the current sleeve against the finished one, and something was off, so I'm going to have to frog it all and start again on that side! Situation getting worse... When we got home, I pulled the project out and noticed the dye lot for the sleeves is different to the body. I know this is a thing, but I've never experienced this before! You can't see it as much in the photos, but it's forever going to be obvious to me. My fault for not ordering enough yarn in the first place 🫠🫠🫠 Just one of those knits I guess! It’s taken me a long time to figure myself out, and I’m still #unravelling I think I’m a sort of hippie deep down 😏 I grew up in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, and if any of you know this area of the UK ( Manchester United footballers and The Real Housewives of Cheshire @officialrhoch ) you will know what I mean when I say what you look like MATTERS. To put you in the picture … an all year round tan is essential, most houses have gated access, orange Lamborghinis are not an unusual sight, and personalised number plates don even the lowliest of cars 😉 When I was a teenager, I had a friends parent once say to me “God, Sarah, you’re so white”. Words like that stick when you’re a teenage girl, and no teenager wants to be different. I tried very hard to be ‘cool’ and fit in. Like many teenage girls sadly, I don’t think I was ever fully myself growing up. I was always trying so hard to be something I wasn’t ! “Most of our dissatisfaction comes from not being ourselves, not knowing who we are, not knowing our true nature, not being free to be ourselves, that’s where most of our problems come from.” Dr. Gabor Matè When I ask my children to draw God, they usually draw Jesus on the cross or Jesus in some form, and as Christian’s it’s true that Jesus is the human form of God, and we can relate to him.
