🍄 Wake the Tiger 🍄 @wakethetiger is without doubt the most bizarre (but brilliant) place we’ve ever been. We had a great time exploring its two zones each with many many different areas. It’s almost impossible to describe but it’s definitely a constantly changing mix of strange, magical, mystical and futuristic. The girls started off a little apprehensive but very quickly began to love it and were racing around to explore all the areas. Happily you can touch, press and feel absolutely everything and there is even a slide (or two if your over 5 😬). There are interactive parts, puzzles to complete and actors who add to some of the areas along the way. The detail was incredible, I’m certain we could go again and again and still see things we’d missed before. We could walk around freely from area to area but did need to transcend worlds by ‘train’ and ‘plane’ which was equally bonkers and great fun. Tasked with developing an interactive installation & content for the new area at Wake the Tiger, we fitted 2x Optoma laser projectors & 2 pcs with seperate touch interfaces for the public to interact with the content, both using a gorgeous @touchdesigner interface made by @_a_whales. Mapping, content playback & effects were all handled by Arena, with an @enttecofficial ODE Mk3 for DMX control of the lighting in the room, and a seperate Intel NUC pc downstairs running the second Touchdesigner interface. 𝗞𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁: Die Challenge: eine Woche lang in einem verlassenen Freizeitpark versteckt bleiben, ohne gefunden zu werden. Der Gewinn: genug Geld, um sein Leben zum Besseren zu verändern. Obwohl alle Teilnehmenden unbedingt gewinnen wollen, ist sich Mack sicher, dass sie siegen kann. Im Verstecktbleiben ist sie ein Profi: Das ist der Grund, warum sie noch lebt und ihre Familie nicht. Doch als die anderen nach und nach verschwinden, wird Mack klar, dass mit dieser Gameshow etwas nicht stimmt. Vielleicht ist der einzige Weg, ihrer aller Leben zu retten, aus den Verstecken zu kommen und gemeinsam zu kämpfen.. 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗴: Der Klappentext hat mich sehr neugierig gemacht und das Buch musste gekauft werden. Ich hab es mir anders vorgestellt. Eher wie Tribute von Panem, aber die Idee hinter dieser Umsetzung gefällt mir auch. Ich habe mich lange, fast bis zum Ende, schwer mit der Erzählperspektive getan, es ist so umhergesprungen zwischen den Charakteren. Man konnte aufgrund dessen auch nicht wirklich eine Verbindung aufbauen, da die Charaktere so ziemlich flach wirkten. Der Aufbau des Buches war interessant, aber gleichzeitig auch verwirrend. Die Geschichte in der Geschichte ist mysteriös, aber auch ein wenig undurchschaubar. Spannung war da und hat mich auch immer wieder gecatcht. Ich habe auch tatsächlich sehr mitgefiebert. Das Ende kam ein wenig abrupt und wurde viel zu schnell abgehandelt, dass war sehr schade! Leider konnte mich das Buch, durch diese undurchsichtige Erzählperspektive und den Aufbau nicht gänzlich überzeugen. {Unbezahlte • Werbung}

Where can you go as a family activity if it’s raining and you don’t want to do the usuals of cinema or bowling..?! ad 📍 Wake The Tiger, Bristol An ‘amazement park’ of course! But what does that even mean I hear you ask?? It describes itself as a 'multi-sensory art experience'. You go through a ‘portal’ to another world, where there are over 30 different environments to explore at your own leisure. It’s self guided, so choose your own route and return to parts you wish to linger. I wasn’t sure what to expect beforehand and I don’t want to spoil it, but there is so much to discover (hidden rooms etc!) and it captured the imagination of every single one of us - age four, the two ‘harder to please’ to teens and us ‘seen it all’ grown ups. I now completely get why people say they discover new things on each visit! Some info: 🎟 Off Peak: Adults £15, Kids £10, Under 5’s free. Standard: Adults £19.50, Kids £13.50. Under 5’s free. @bluelightcard holders, students & groups eligible for discount. Prebooking encouraged and cheaper. 📆 Open Weds to Sun throughout Dec, and the Mon/Tues before Xmas too. For extra festive sparkle (and a few extra quid) you can attend their Adult only Xmas Events on the 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th & 15th this month. ⏰ Usual sessions it’s completely up to you, Adult Xmas evenings are from 7pm til 11pm. 🍔 The Guildhall Bar at the ‘end’ of the park serves a wonderful range of fresh, homemade & seasonal vegetarian and vegan food. I spotted some great looking (and smelling) burgers, toasties and cakes amongst other things! ♿️ Trail is fully accessible for wheelchairs (although some parts may be more tricky, but mobility scooters and prams are not allowed to enter. 🚘 Parking is free up to three hours or £5 for up to six hours. It's located within central Bristol, 29 minutes drive from Clevedon or a 25 minute walk from Temple Meads if you catch the train. 🐶 Guidance dogs only and they must be on the lead at all times. Die Geschichte wird in einem guten Tempo erzählt und man will die ganze Zeit wissen, was jeder Charakter mitbringt, was passieren wird, wer am Ende gewinnt—wenn es überhaupt einen Sieger gibt. Fazit: eine totale Empfehlung, wenn man Spannung mag. Der Ort des Geschehens ist ein stillgelegter Freizeitpark, der aufgrund seiner vielen Wege und Abzweigungen einem Labyrinth gleicht. Die Teilnehmer sollen sich dort 7 Tage lang bis Sonnenaufgang ein geeignetes Versteck suchen und müssen bis Sonnenuntergang unerkannt bleiben, während sog. „Sucher“ hinter ihnen her sind. Der Gewinner erhält 50.000$ - derjenige, der am Ende übrig und unerkannt bleibt. Nach und nach scheiden immer mehr Leute aus, komische Geräusche sind zu hören und einige schlimme Situationen entwickeln sich. Außerdem wird bald klar, dass mehr hinter dieser angeblichen Reality Show steckt und die Männer und Frauen nicht zufällig ausgewählt wurden. Des Weiteren scheint irgendetwas in der Mitte des Parks zu wohnen. Das düstere Lost Place Setting und die ganze Kulisse mit verfallenen Karussells, Achterbahnen und Buden, sowie die Horroratmosphäre, konnte die Autorin sehr gut wiedergeben. Die Protagonisten waren interessant, die Story kreativ und solide, aber am Ende auch nichts Besonderes oder ein Highlight. Dennoch war der Roman, trotz der langen Kapitel, kurzweilig und hat mich gut unterhalten. Eine Verfilmung könnte ich mir hier auch sehr gut vorstellen. Amazement Park - Kiersten White Gestern habe ich diesen Horrorroman beendet. Auch wenn der Klapptext behauptet es wäre ein fesselnder, hochspannender Thriller. Dafür ist das Buch allerdings viel zu langsam erzählt. Die ganze Struktur ist typisch Horrorfilm. Mehr möchte ich dazu hier aus Spoilergründen nicht sagen. Aber ich habe dazu nochmal ne Spoilerkachel gebastelt die ihr hinter dem Klapptext findet. Es wäre halt wirklich nett wenn man Horror Bücher auch als Horror Bücher vermarkten würde. Oder ihren wenigstens mal Triggerwarnung mitgiebt. Intersannterweise fällt auch 'Amazement Park' in die 'Sapphic Horror' Nische. Irgendwie finden diese Bücher dieses Jahr immer wieder ihren Weg zu mir. Insgesamt mochte ich das Buch aber echt gerne. Ich mochte auch die vielen Figuren in deren Situation wir einen Einblick bekommen. Auch wenn wir dadurch ständig durch die PoVs springen. Der Schreibstiel schwankt zwischen wirklich gut und Okay. Lässt sich insgesamt gut Weglesen. Das Rätsel an sich war nicht super schwer zu lösen aber es ist halt auch Horror und kein Thriller. Amazement Park von Kiersten White Mack bekommt die Einladung für ein Spiel, ein Versteckspiel, bei dem dem Gewinner ein Scheck über 50.000,00 Dollar winkt. Mack ist ganz unten in ihrem Leben angekommen, hat nichts zu verlieren und nimmt die Einladung an. Neben ihr gibt es 13 weitere Spieler, die der Leser im Verlauf der Geschichte Stück für Stück näher kennenlernt. Die Autorin hat super beschrieben, warum jeder Einzelne von ihnen sich für das Spiel entschieden hat und was er sich von dem Gewinn bzw. dem Mitmachen erhofft. Es treffen total unterschiedliche Menschen aufeinander. Diese Konstellation birgt natürlich viel Sprengstoff und damit spielt die Autorin sehr geschickt. Ich habe recht schnell Sympathie und auch Antipathie für die Mitspieler entwickelt. Im Vordergrund steht Mack, die eine sehr heftige Vergangenheit hat, die nach und nach aufgedeckt wird. Mack ist eine Einzelgänger, vertraut niemanden und quält sich seit Jahren mit schlimmen Schuldgefühlen. Man hat von Beginn an das Gefühl, dass es sich hier nicht um eine normale Show handelt, aber man tappt erst einmal im Dunkeln, was eigentlich los ist. Die Spannung bleibt so erhalten und fesselt den Leser an die Geschichte. Als dann endlich herauskommt, worum es tatsächlich geht, war ich erst einmal sprachlos. Die Idee fand ich richtig gut und auch die Umsetzung hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Mack mochte ich gleich und auch Brandon, LeGrand und Alva 1 sind mir ans Herz gewachsen. Der ehemalige Freizeitpark ist eine super Lokalität für die Geschichte und lässt den Leser auch ohne die Geschehnisse grusseln. Perfekt gewählt, kann ich nur sagen. Die Entwicklung, die die vier oben genannten Figuren im Verlauf der Geschichte durchlaufen, hat mir auch gut gefallen und passte zu den dargestellten Charakteren. Ihre Handlungen ergeben auch immer mehr Sinn, je mehr man von ihnen und ihrem vorherigen Leben erfährt.
