During our visit, I collected selected flowers and leaves, utilizing a flower press kit discovered prior to the trip. This technique, reminiscent of the 16th-century Japanese art form Oshibana, involves pressing and arranging dried flora on washi paper. The found frames used in the assembly of the artworks are chosen for their Victorian floral style, contributing to a timeless aesthetic. The resulting series comprises four Oshibana Framed artworks, emphasizing the intersection of modern foraging practices and traditional artistic methods. The intention is to pay homage to Awenda’s historical significance in Canadian culture. November 2022 #HikingAdventures Pt.2: The tale of 2 Novembers 🌬️🍂 This series of photos was taken on the #SeatonTrail 2 weeks apart. November 5th and November 19th. In the first set, I was hiking in a t-shirt. In the second set, I was in winter gear navigating snow. It's a great illustration of how the trails and scenery change so quickly and how much different the hiking experience can be in different seasons. This post differs from my usual because after the first couple of pics you can swipe left and right to see the difference a deep freeze can make only a couple weeks apart from the same locations/similar angles. The #SeatonHikingTrail in #Pickering ON is a long (15+km) moderate trail which winds along the East Duffins Creek through a critical watershed for the area. It sits in the Duffins Rouge Agricultural preserve (not far from my home trail of Rouge Park) and that preserve has been in the news lately. It's in the #Greenbelt and was slated to be paved over until, thankfully, a recent decision overturned the plans. So go out and enjoy this beautiful nature! 1-2: Early fall sights on the trail, looking over the creek from above and enjoying the sunshine through the bright orange #fallfoliage 3-4: The site of the riverbed right before the artificial waterfall/dam 5-6: This is the lovely forest with curved trees in the main/most visited area near the village of #Whitevale 7-8: Although cropped by insta, this bluff lookout kinda looks like Arrowhead with the curved river in between a "tree island" of sorts 9: And here's some more snippets of the hike, including #chasingwaterfalls, the view from the tip top of the bluff, and visiting an abandoned storage structure of some kind on the #transcanadatrail portion. I love it when you find abandoned buildings in the woods, but I wasn't prepared for how elaborate this one was. Too bad I didn't post some of the explicit signage 😂 10: Last but not least, near #Midland ON in #TinyTownship sits #AwendaProvincialPark @awenda_pp. This gorgeous park has many beaches + trails to explore, though I only got to the #Wendat trail post work.
