Haggis is a famous Scottish dish often served in the evening with ‘neeps and tatties’ (swede and mashed potato) but it can be eaten at breakfast too. You’ll see haggis on our own Distant Hills breakfast menu included as part of our traditional Scottish breakfast served alongside bacon, sausage, black pudding, baked beans, eggs and tomatoes. Guests often ask what haggis is made of, which can put some people off. Basically, it’s the heart, liver, and lungs of a sheep or a calf minced with suet, onions, oatmeal, and seasonings and boiled in the stomach of the animal. Sound disgusting? We urge you to try some! Good evening dear people...its been a while. Long post alert. - If you can believe it we came very close to leaving this incredible house and giving up everything we have worked hard at for years, which I realise now would've been utter insanity. There were many reasons why we nearly packed it all in but I am so glad that we realised we wanted to stay here after all. - Because of the intense difficulties we have faced over the past 2 years or so (yep, even in B.C times), it has been pretty hard to see the point in anything at times, but, of course, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and so we decided that nothing and no one will make us ever want to give up our beloved business and home before we are ready to do so. - And now we are very proud to say that the B&B is looking better than it ever has done, and after being unable to access our garden for a long time, over the past few weeks we have finally been able to turn it into a mini paradise (admittedly 27 degree heat does help with this!). - So in summary, Rigg House B&B is freaking amazing. Jay and I are also amazing, as are our 2 awesome small clones and we would love for everyone who reads this post to come and stay with us soon!
