One last taste of winter! David and I decided on Tower Ridge today to enjoy the su shine and views with such a great forecast. Dry rock and firm snow was the deal.fornthenlower half of the route, but things did start to soften in the sun. We finally put crampons on just below the Great Tower. From here on in, it felt much more like winter. The Indicator Wall area and Gardaloo Buttress were still holding ice that looked just about 'in'. Hard to believe this was just two weeks ago. Just when you think winter is done, you get a day of fresh snow, breaking trail through knee-high powder. The spring sunshine, contrasting skies and a blanket of white all combined to make this an incredible experience. . April 26 - 2024 Ben Nevis, Scotland It started with sheep and grass plains, then rocks in all shades of grey and red forming jagged steps. It ended with sleet and an uphill battle against ice. The mind races with a billion thoughts throughout the climb. The summit however provides the reward. That calm, serene silence a mountain top can only provide. Aonach Beag and Aonach Mรฒr, last Sunday. A rare occasion when forecast is so much better than expected. Fabulous dayโs walking, with Alfie once again having fun in the snow! I wasnโt sure whether to post this or not as it ended badly with a fall and being airlifted off the mountain. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and it was so reassuring to have them look after me and get me, Alfie and my friend safely to the Coastguard helicopter. Thanks to Sarah from Torridon MRT too, and to the police in Fort William for driving my friend and Alfie to her car while I was being taken to the QEUH. I am overwhelmed and humbled by all the kindness Iโve received.
