Our Learning and Engagement Officer spent her Saturday morning visiting a local croft who have been offering “cuddle sessions” with their baby goats. 🐐💕 Ardgour Alpaca and Boer Goat Experience @alpaca_and_boer_experince is a family business who offer walks and encounters with their furry four-legged friends. Seeing the kids (baby goats) and playing with them was such a fun experience. It’s a perfect day out for anyone who loves animals. Located in the beautiful and peaceful village of Clovullin, it’s a lovely stroll there and back. Hello folkses Maddy here, cos it’s #MaddyMonday. Now here’s a think. I know you hoomans have all sorts of hangups about gender differences and stuff and it has never concerned me much. But it occurred to me this weekend how easily pleased boyses are and how we girlses are a bit more complexified. You see, I met a young pup called Billy. He is pretty good looking for a collie and very respectful and polite, even encouraging me to play with his ball. But even though I haven’t had much doggy action lately, I acted aloof and waited to see his full repertoire. Well, I watched him for an hour, and then another hour, and maybe longer, and I saw the full range of his skills. They were… 1) wait for ball to be thrown, 2) fetch ball, 3) return ball, 4) repeat. It was like grounddog day. I kept waiting for him to serenade me, invite me for an explore around the garden or at least sniff my butt. I sneaked off and started digging a hole to distract him, I woofed at him, I lay on my back for a tummy rub, and I even jumped into his roadmonster to make him think I was going with him but all he was interested in was where his doggone ball was. BUT (a big but), he was soooo happyful. He had his hoomans and his ball and that was all he needed. I think maybe I could learn something from Billy. “What’s that?” I hear you say. Are you going to be less stressyful about things that don’t really matter like having breakfast exacully at 9 on the clock and tea at exacully 4 on the clock, or being fritful when the tv hoofer doofer is tossed across the room? Spring is a magical time to visit Glencoe, with flowers blooming, warmer days, long evenings, many businesses reopening for the season and – best of all – no midges! 🌷🌸 A local favourite at this time of year is a walk around the Glencoe Lochan trails, where the forest floor is carpeted in bluebells and you will likely meet the very cute resident ducklings. The Lochan is just along the road from Glencoe Village, and so we would usually recommend that you combine this walk with a visit to @glencoefolkmuseum, but the Museum is currently closed until 2025 for redevelopment. You can of course still take a walk past the beautiful thatched cottages, and keep an eye out for their “Pop-Up Museums”, which will be touring around local venues this year. Hello folkses Maddy here, cos it’s #MaddyMonday. Anyhoo, I have discovered a new walk which I can really recommend. We took the CEOs of my fan club. That stands for Craiglinnhe’s Excellent Owners. Craiglinnhe is a guest house near us and the peops there are luverly to me. We went on the Corran ferry. We left the roadmonster in the car park and went on as passengers which is free. Then we got a coffee from NomadCafe I don’t like coffee, but I do like sausage rolls and they are excellent, nom nom nom. They gave us a leaflet for a local walk which we went on which was splendiforous. When we got the ferry back, we went for an ice cream at @corranices but it was shut which is an excellent reason for going back another day for a walk. I luvved it. If you come to stay with us, I think you should try this walk. Hello folkses Maddy.here, cos it’s #MaddyMonday. Anyhoo, a thing happened this week. Some guests asked if they could meet me so I abandonded my snoozing session and said hello. They were from a place called Lake Tahoe which is nearly 5,000 away. Wow, that would be a long walk. And then some people from Brazil which is even furtherer. They all said I was luverly but they didn’t have snacks, so I went back to my snoozing. Big Daddy and Mummy are going to get a map and put pins in to show where peoples have come from. They will need a lot of pins and a very big map. I went on a walk this week to one of my favouritist places, Glencoe Lochan, so there are some photos. Hiking for heritage! 🥾 After the success of last year's sponsored Historic Hike, we are planning to once again follow in the footsteps of Clan MacDonald on Saturday 7th September 2024 ⛰️ 🏴 This will be a guided hike, with two route options to give as many people as possible the opportunity to take part. Do you like the challenge of taking photos in high winds and draiving weather? During my photo tour in the Highlands of Scotland back in January we had a bracing wind couple with sub-zero temperatures. The UK Met Office showed that the north west of Scotland was to be getting successive wild weather and each day that’s exactly what we had. As a photography tour leader it’s my job to get clients out instead of stuck inside a hotel. It’s not always easy but it can be done. Up at Glen Shiel near to the Isle of Skye I know a little spot that gives a beautiful view down into the valley. It takes a little bit of finding as it’s not visible from the main road. The incliment weather conditions we had made this the perfect scene for a black and white shot. The Canon R5 allows you to change the color settings into black and white thus it makes it easier to envisage if the shot is going to work or not without color. I've been visiting the area now for over ten years and still find new spots to get images from.
