Attention très beau bordeaux ! Il lui aura fallu un peu de temps pour s'exprimer mais après qu'elle présence ! L'aromatique est tout d'abord nettement tertiaire dominée par le cuir et la truffe. Puis viennent des notes plus florales et fruitées (frais et plus compotées), fumées qui apportent de la complexité, le nez changeant à chaque retour dans le verre ! Les notes sont typiques de l'appellation après 40 ans, le fruit noir, le cuir, l'olive noire, la confiture de mûres, l'arôme de torréfaction. La persistance en bouche est belle et soyeuse. Tout est bien équilibré et gourmand. Moralité, buvons du Bordeaux avec de la maturité ! 🍷 Septembre 2023 🇬🇧 Château l'Évangile Pomerol 1982. A very good nectar from 1982. The notes are typical of the appellation after 40 years: black fruit, leather, black olives, blackberry jam and roasted aromas. The wine lingers beautifully and silkily on the palate. Chateau L’Evangile 1993 Pomerol, Bordeaux 샤토 레방질 보르도 포므롤 레방질 L’Evangile 의 의미는 기독교의 ‘복음’을 의미하는 에반젤Evangile로, 그리스어 ‘에반게리온’에서 유래되었다. 일부 보르도 와이너리 이름에서 종교적인 의미를 발견할 수 있는데, 샤토 페트뤼스 Chateau Petrus는 ‘베드로’ 성인을, 샤토 앙젤뤼스 Chateau Angelus는 ‘삼종기도’, Chateau Le Bon Pasteur는 ‘선한 목자’, Château L’Église는 '교회', Chateau Hosanna는 ‘구원을 간청한다’는 의미로, 오랜 가톨릭 역사에서 와이너리의 이름이 유래한 것을 알 수 있다. 1993빈은 메를로 65%와 까베르네 프랑 35%의 블랜딩으로 풍성한 과일 풍미와 유연함, 바디감이 뛰어난 빈티지로 알려져 있다. 30여년의 오랜 숙성기간에도 불구하고 와인의 상태는 완벽에 가까웠다. 탁한 루비 레드 색상을 보였고, 젖은 흙 향과 가죽, 트뤼플, 부엽토 같은 3차향이 주류를 형성하고 있었지만 민트, 블랙베리, 구운 허브, 감초, 바닐라향 등이 어우러진 복합적인 풍미와 실키한 타닌, 엘레강스한 질감이 매력적이었다. Chateau L'Evangile은 Pomerol에서 가장 오래된 샤토 중 하나로 1687년으로 거슬러 올라가는 오랜 역사를 가지고 있다. 처음엔 Domaine de Fazilleau이었다가 이후 Le Domaine de L' Evangile ou de Fazilleau라는 이름으로 건물과 원래 샤토가 만들어졌고, 1741년 리부른에 거주하던 레글리즈 가문이 매입했을 때 이미 고품질 와인을 생산하는 것으로 유명했다. 이후 Ducasse 가족과 관련된 Jean-Paul Chaperon이 구입하여 지금의 Chateau L' Evangile로 바꾸었다. 1900년경 샤토 레방질은 이웃 비유 샤토 세르탕(Vieux Chateau Certan)과 페트뤼스(Petrus)에 이어 포므롤에서 세 번째로 좋은 와인으로 이름을 날리기도 했다. Glass Half Full: the glass stoppers or ‘bungs’ that we use in our amphora at Château L’Evangile are getting a good spring-clean. These bungs are essential to avoid oxygenation as our wines mature, which might lead to excessive acidity. From time to time, some of the barrels made in our cooperage take a season off from maturing Château L’Evangile’s wines. Before the holiday can begin, they will undergo a thorough cleaning. We use a candle flame to light a pellet of sulfur, before filling the empty barrel with its smoke. Strange as it sounds, this creates an antiseptic environment which sanitises and protects the barrels’ interior from bacterial growth during their ‘pause’. The holiday destination? These will soon be cleared to make way for spring’s coming growth, as pruning is being completed, stakes and trellis wires are fixed in place, and the last of the clippings are cleared from the soil. At @chateaulevangile, it’s time for our clay amphorae to get a spring clean! This ancient method of winemaking has been used since 200 BC in the Caucasia region - we’ve updated our cleaning supplies a little since then, but not much else has changed over several millennia. Our cellar master Charbel uses a natural mixture of water and citric acid to clean out any tartar lingering within, leaving it to soak over a week. He follows this with a rinse, a spritz of alcohol to disinfect the clay, and a day or two to air dry. Tears of Joy: as the soil warms under returning sunshine, sap begins to circulate more freely about the vines, sending oxygen, water and nutrients to dormant branches. As this occurs, you can see something miraculous at the end of recently-pruned shoots: they start ‘crying’. But don’t be sad, this is weeping of the best kind! The Pomerol plateau is a region that gives full expression to Merlot like nowhere else. Here, our heavy clay soil is covered by a seam of gravel – one of the secrets to Château L’Evangile’s great depth. In 2002, a warm dry summer was followed by a cold and rainy period during which we saw our vines struggling to flower successfully. But September soon brought dry heat and sun, for a vintage that delights in its complexity. It’s time to ‘go with the flow’ at Château L’Evangile… racking has begun! Also known as ‘soutirage’, this process helps us separate and filter the wine from the sediment or ‘lees’ that gather at the base of its containers during fermentation and maturation. One of our recent experiments at Château L’Evangile has involved a new kind of pruning practice. We’re implementing late pruning on our smaller plots to protect against frost, as our larger plots can be shielded by wind turbines or torches in the vineyard if late frost threatens their growth. Does Les Chetillons ever get old? One of the older Pomerols I've tried, the 1990 L'Evangile was a lovely wine in its day. For me, it was a treat, though on the completely mature side, delicious with Chef's duck. 2009 Clos de Tart is just coming around. Vibrant fruit, very Pinot, delicious, and again, a great pairing with Chef's duck. @closdetart Olivier Leflaive is almost overshadowed by Domaine Leflaive, but this Batard was beautiful. Not overly reductive, the fruit and extract are obvious, the palate expansive...it opens up beautifully, matching perfectly with all kinds of seafood. 2009 Yquem...marvelous. @chateauyquem Finally, Belargus is a newer producer. Formerly Domaine Pithon-Paille, the estate that first bottled a Quarts dry wine, that is a dry wine from the Quarts de Chaume Cru, one of the greatest sites for sweet wines in the world, Belargus is a producer to watch. This Quarts is a beautiful, dry Chenin Blanc. Reductive at the onset, it slowly reveals its terroir through complexity and power. Though its fruits are slow to evolve, it is a lovely food wine. E Bordeaux 1988 è andata ❤️ Batteria intro, Beychevelle Vs. Pontet-Canet, passa Pontet in virtù di una definizione nitida, Beychevelle aveva una deviazione infida che ne ha ridotto prestazione Batteria Evangile, Vieux Chateau Certain, Figeac, Angelus, qua è difficile fare un ordine solo, se guardo la bellezza assoluta Figeac è il vino perfetto, se guardo il lavoro col cibo Evangile da copulazione, se guardo tra 10 anni Angelus sarà probabilmente il migliore. Ai margini Vieux Chateau Certain perché la prima bottiglia era stanca e la seconda aperta era un vino con delle rusticità non all'altezza degli altri 3, da solo avrebbe fatto altra storia ma la batteria era di livello troppo alto per questo vino Batteria Cos e Leoville, Cos scuro, denso, speziato, indietro, Leoville uno dei vini che più amo perché è il manifesto della forza ed eleganza fuse assieme, da capogiro Batteria 1er, Latour da ripassare tra 10 anni forse, pauroso, Lafite il vino della serata per prestazione nel bicchiere ora, magnifico e ti fa capire tante cose, Margaux il vino che si è mosso di più nel bicchiere ma che aveva anche il minor equilibrio in questa fase per una acidità meno integrata, Mouton dal naso ipnotico, Haut-Brion doveva far gara con la batteria prima perché gli altri 4 erano sopra ma a me è piaciuto tanto...semplicemente c'erano vini più buoni Yquem, qua errore mio a cui rimedierò volentieri, nella stanchezza di questi giorni ho preso su il 1998 al posto del 1988, vino comunque stupendo da bere e più approcciabile del previsto. #chateaulatour #chateaulafiterothschild #chateaumargaux #chateaumoutonrothschild #chateauhautbrion #leovillelascases #cosdestournel #chateauangelus #figeac #chateaulevangile #vieuxchâteaucertan #pontetcanet #beychevelle #chateaudyquem #bordeaux1988 #rivedroite #rivegauche
