Cracking run with the club last night. The weather cleared, we had a good group and a nice route with a new hill, bit of trail bit of road, it all came together 🙂 Actually pretty chuffed with the evening. When we set up the run club a year or so ago I didn’t really know how it would go, I had visions of being the only one there! Last night we had 60 runners out for our social run, on the back of 20 on Monday for our interval session and 22 on Friday for a run and a pint to Padstow. We have people who win top notch ultra races through to those venturing out on their first run/walk journey. Loads of people are smiling, improving and connecting. What an up and down month it’s been, from race wins to injuries/lack of training. Thankfully I was able to race my local half marathon well 14.6 mile race 😝. Started of with winning the par Duathlon. I got my lovely new TT machine then the next day I got injured (glute & lower back). Depression set in with not being able to train and not being able to do the Bodmin Beastly multi terrain race. Thankfully I got to 90% fit so I did it 🥰. Bodmin Beast 14.6 mile multi terrain. Comfortable 🥇 overall. This was a hilly route of road, fields, mud, gates well it had everything 😝. The climb coming out of Cardinham was brutal 🥵. A week later (yesterday) I did the @intotri Wadebridge triathlon. I wasn’t expecting anything amazing here but It was a brilliant race. Swam well, bike poor (this I knew would happen) ran well. Racing top athletes and friends 😊🤟 Finishing 🥉 overall. Bodmin mini beast half marathon plus some 2024 🥈. I may not have got the win but glad to be able to compete in my local race and get around the course with no real ankle pain. After KVK I have really just been working on strengthening my ankle and hardly any running for two weeks which seems to have worked. First race of the year completed 🏁 Yesterday was the @purplegeckoevents Smugglers Way ultra marathon. 37 miles of trails and tarmac, starting at Boscastle on the North Coast of Cornwall, traversing over the highest points of Cornwall on Bodmin Moor, before finishing at Looe on the South Coast of Cornwall. I'm still finding my feet in the ultra marathon world, but Purple Gecko, as always, provide a friendly and relaxed event, who welcome all abilities. My aim was to finish in under 8 hours, but, with a strong second half, I managed to sneak under 7 hours and secure a fourth place finish. The photos on top of Bodmin Moor from @willhp.photo highlight the lack of visibility, so was happy with the minimal navigational errors over the 37 miles. Fueled well and finished strongly, so have a bit more confidence to increase the distance in the future. Happy and proud to see 5 other @staarc2016 ⚡ on the start line and to see strong runs by all. 10 years ago we started a journey and won best new race with the @teamvaga RAT at the Runners World National Awards ceremony in London in its inaugural year . Thank you so much for all the ❤️ and comments on last weekends Manchester Marathon run. It is much appreciated. Back on the coast path and trails now! This week has so far consisted of an easy shakeout run on Monday, easy bike Tuesday and club run last night. I hadn’t intended on running today but with a change in the weather I couldn’t not hit the coast path for an easy lunch run!!! This stretch of coastline (between Trevone and Stepper Point) has really dried out since I was here a 10 days ago. We were squelching through thick mud and puddles. Other than one or two bumps it’s pretty flat and accessible for running. Deffo recommend if you are in the area. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that after the winter and spring we’ve had so far a bit of brightness and sunshine is like heaven!! @freedom__racing KVK mixed pairs 2024 🥈. Great to get back to one of my favourite races in Cornwall and was great fun to pair up with @hannahmas0n to take on the mixed pairs. Hannah smashed the first leg and it was going okay for me until I took one corner wrong coming into St Agnes and went over on my ankle (again), glad I could finish and get on the podium but gutted to see what time I could have done. After a few days of hobbling around it seems to be settling down so fingers crossed it's not as bad as originally thought. Got some big races coming up so fingers crossed my ankle heels fast. Tonights run was a tempo run and was the first time that I had tried this kind of run as part of any training plan Ive followed (not too many) Under a nice blue sky and warming temperatures I started with a 15 minute easy warm up. Followed by 20 mins @ 10k pace with a 90 second walk recovery, then a 10 minute cool down. The 20 minute effort felt tough especially as it felt like most of it into the wind 💨 Hopefully this will stand me in good stead in 4 weeks time #tuesdayrun #temporun #tuesdaytemporun #cornwallrunning

Something I’ve wanted to do for years….a muddy race. But I’ve always been at sea, injured (as in a broken bone), pregnant or post natal…this year there was no excuse and I found some crazy mates to do it with….so much fun! So much mud! So many bruises! Finally made it out for a run today! 🥳 Decided to start a Couch to 5k again because it’s been such a long time since I’ve gone for a run. Parkrun today was run at what I perceived as a comfortable pace only looking at my watch to see my mile splits. Almost a month off running due to putting my back out, which later transpired to be due to a locked right hip 😢. Rest and a few Chiropractor appointments have helped massively and hopefully have got the issue sorted.
