Have a couple of like new reels for sale. As you may have seen in a recent post, I recently acquired a Loop Classic 79. It will be replacing the Marquis on my 7wt spey. The Ross Evolution was setup as a dedicated bull trout nymphing rig but saw very little use as I primarily fish streamers for bulls. The Marquis has maybe three days on the water and is (along with the Ross) in great shape. An improved, entry point for kayakers, canoers and floaters into the Deschutes River at Miller’s Landing in Bend took a step forward Wednesday when the Oregon State Marine Board greenlighted the project and approved some of the funds to build it. The project will see shoreline upgrades that will improve access to the river, areas to launch nonmotorized boats and safe spots to wade into the water. . . . Echo has been an extremely challenging and time-consuming puppy and I very seriously considered returning him to his breeder more than once. He is reactive, intelligent, and sometimes honestly just a prick and this combination is really hard and also not very fun sometimes. I reached out to his breeder and discussed the options of returning him and he said that 9/10 people would have already returned him and that I would not be faulted if I decided to do so. I spoke with my husband about giving him back to his breeder and it was almost an immediate no from him. While he has been on the receiving end of Echos antics he reminded me that I decided to get this puppy and he is our dog and our responsibility and that we will not be returning him. He will be a year old next month and I’m so glad that I didn’t give up on him. He is still a challenge but he loves us and he works hard on trying to make the right decisions. I can’t imagine him not being ours. I cant think of another family loving him like we do as we’ve overcome so much in just one year. Echo would never give up on us and I can’t believe I ever thought of giving up on him. Ospreys are here in Oregon from about April through September. They mate for life and come back to the same nests every year. They are here to mate and raise their young until they migrate down south. Here in Bend some of our favorite recreation spots are where they call home and raise their young. I’m sure you’ve seen them hunting fish in our lakes and rivers. Maybe you are lucky and have even seen one dive down into the water to catch a fish. It’s an amazing sight! Fish are about 99% of their diet. A stone fly feed and a handsome buck! Howard first time to the Deschutes, and he came to be the west bank. Private access rather than public state side on opener for the east bank of the Deschutes river. Howard was content to see no pressure of other anglers on our side of the river. Although the river was on the rise, I taught him how to swing and to get long dead drifts. Howard took to a micro spey rod and had a blast on a 3wt! Grateful to live in beautiful Bend where it’s unavoidable to be thankful for earthly abundance with every turn of the head. Also grateful to have celebrated #earthday this weekend with Celine Marina Bambina at a themed art class for toddlers that was less chaotic than I expected given the age range. She seemed excited to show off her work after the fact which is another new budding sprig reflective of her growth. And, of course, holiday art by Mila. Always a joy to receive. Finally, let us all tip our hats to terriers as the name itself means “dogs of the earth” for their propensity to burrow into the ground in the heat of their pursuits.
