Have you ever eaten a borage flower? This is by far my favorite flower to eat! I could literally eat them by the handful. Unlike a lot of other edible flowers that mostly taste like salad with a hint of perfume (just being real about it lol) borage is the superior variety for texture and flavor. And I just recently purchased the cookbook "Eat Your Flowers" by @loriastern , which has further expanded my culinary flower obsession and thoughts on what's possible! Here's the first dish I've tried from her cookbook. The tart is filled with spinach, parsley, scallions, eggs, and heavy cream...giving it a gorgeous green canvas for the purple and yellow violas and pink dianthus that are baked on top. I also topped it with fresh orange blossoms and dianthus, because...why not! 😂 To my surprise, my non-flower eating husband actually requested that I make this dish, when I gave him a few recipes to choose from for dinner. LUNITAS DE CHOCOCHIPS CON CONFETTI DE FLORES 🌺 🌻🌹🪻🌜 Esta receta está inspirada en la luna, y me pareció buena idea que si de por si el eclipse nos iba a afectar física y emocionalmente ya de perdís que se pasara el malestar con algo rico 😋 🍪 Pueden hacer la receta de galletas de chispas de chocolate de su preferencia y antes de meter al horno con un cortador de galletas de Luna denle la forma. PARA EL CONFETTI DE FLORES: Una vez listas sus galletas, de dejan enfriar y se prepara un syrup de 1 cda de azúcar granulada por 2 de agua de filtro, se pone a hervir a que el azúcar se disuelva y eso lo usamos para mojar nuestra galleta con una brocha. Espolvoreamos pétalos de flores- yo use girasol, rosa y lavanda - siempre que usemos flores hay que tener en cuenta que sean de invernadero o cultivadas en tu jardín o de donde sepas que no tienen pesticidas. One of my favourite places to be is the garden. It brings so much calm to the moment. Watching everything come to life. Creating a vision for this season and preparing for the season ahead is always so inspiring. Each year I’ve been fortunate enough to increase more and more. It’s been such an amazing experience watching not only the actual roots of the plants grow but, to sit back and reflect on the way my roots have grown and how this beautiful business of mine has grown, its been quite remarkable.🌸 I started this flower journey back in 2020 when life was so unpredictable and divided. Bringing myself peace of mind, it helped entertain my kids and helps inspire others to smile and enjoy the calm in the unknown. It’s evolved into something that still brings me joy and hope, even during the uncertain time. I’m grateful I created this movement because it’s provided our community with such positive energy. ᴛʜᴀɪ ꜱᴀʟᴍᴏɴ ꜱᴀʟᴀᴅ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇʀʙꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ꜰʟᴏᴡᴇʀꜱ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ᴍʏ ɢᴀʀᴅᴇɴ • This recipe actually came about as an end of week "clean the fridge", but it was so good, I made it again a few days later. 🤷♀️😋 My backyard has patches of mint growing, so I picked some leaves and some cilantro from my garden bed. Marguerite Daisy petals added a nice citrusy-spiced flavor. These were all tossed with rice vermicelli noodles, sliced Persian cucumbers, edamame, halved grape tomatoes, thinly-sliced green cabbage, and chopped peanuts. Then I poured a dressing of sambal oelek, fish sauce, honey, lime juice, and peanut oil over it all. The salmon is covered in a sticky marinade of ginger, garlic, lime juice, sweet soy sauce, and sambal oelek. Then each salmon piece is wrapped in foil and roasted in the oven for about 18 minutes. Needless to say, we loved it! Fresh flower and homemade pesto summer rolls. Yum! They look a little bit condom-y, as I couldn’t find the small rice pancakes, so there’s a bit of excess pancake ‘skin’ going on! 😜 These were made with primroses, dandelions, gorse flowers, dog violets, camellias, daisies, speedwell, ground ivy and forget me nots, with wild garlic and nettle pesto and raw veggies.
