Help please! Do any of my connections manage the 'Uncy Gaming' Google business page or know who does? I assume it is someone who has attended one of my courses, as they have written a kind review on my 'Worsley Training' page and used my name. I'm thrilled to have reached 125 Google reviews, all of which are 5* except for this one!! Do your neighbours know how to use your local Defibrillator? Do you know that I run Community CPR and Defibrillator sessions? If you are in the Vale of Pewsey, then you will like to hear that I am ran my 3rd session for Easton Royal and my 2nd session for East Grafton last week. I have also run 2 sessions for Upavon, 1 for East Garston and am getting a date in the diary for North Newnton. That is a lot of villagers who are willing and able to help each other, if ever needed 👏 The sessions are 90 minutes long and cost £150 for up to 20 people (so £7.50 each if full). They can be extended if more topics are requested. So if you answered 'No' to the first question and live within 45 minutes of Upavon, then do get in touch to organise a session for your community at [email protected] . . . . #firstaidtraining #community #wiltshirevillage #defibrillator #firstaidwiltshire #wiltshirefirstaid #wiltshirelife #valeofpewsey #valeofpewseybusiness #defibtraining #cprtraining #cprsaveslives

How would you treat this? Our daughter hung upside down on a swing yesterday and grazed her face on the ground. She is a brave cookie and is absolutely fine but it's been interesting for me to hear a selection of go to treatment options from people (mainly mummies) who have seen her. So please let me know in the comments what you would do and I'll edit this later to say what I have done! UPDATE - Firstly I can assure you that there was lots of cake / chocolate / treats! It was just cleaned with water and mild saline wipes - please avoid any chemicals (germolene, sudocrem, antiseptic) as they kill all the healthy tissue too, which means it will take longer to heal and more likely to scar. A wrapped ice pack helped bring down the swelling. Now a totally natural healing balm is being applied regularly to stop it drying out and cracking. Thanks for your well wishes! . . . #firstaidtips #mumlife #firstaidskills #Parenting #mumsofinstagram #mumsadvice #firstaidwiltshire #paediatricfirstaid #FirstAidSkills

What is the difference between my online first aid courses and virtual refresher courses? On my website you can access the whole of the @protrainingsuk suite of over 200 pre-recorded e-learning courses under the 'Online' menu heading at www.worsleytraining.co.uk They cover a huge variety of topics for a huge variety of industries, starting at just £5 +VAT for a family first aid session. Use the code: UK-worsley to receive a 10% discount. A virtual refresher course is something I offer every 6 months or so, for people who have an in date (or recently expired) first aid certificate who feel a bit rusty and want a reminder of what to do in an emergency. It is an interactive session with me for 2 hours on Zoom, where I teach the key topics and give you any protocol updates. There is always time to ask questions and I make it appropriate for whoever is on the call. The details are on the 'Virtual Annual Update' page under the courses heading on my website and the next dates are on the image. It costs £25 per household, as 2 people are welcome to share a screen. Both online and virtual courses can count for CPD hours but neither extend the validity of your first aid certificates, as they do not include any assessed practicals. As always do get in touch with any queries! . . . #onlinetraining #firstaidtraining #eLearningCourses #remotelearning #firstaidconfidence #firstaidatwork #firstaidwiltshire #learningtogether #learnsomethinguseful #learningisfun #skillset #skillsforlife #FirstAidSkills

I am often asked what first aid course do I / we need? Sadly there is no hard and fast rule as every workplace is different, so the HSE require you to complete a first aid needs assessment to work it out. See https://www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/needs-assessment.htm for more details but this table gives a simple summary and column 5 highlights the many other factors to consider. ● FAW = 3 day First Aid at Work course ● EFAW = 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course ● Appointed Person = individual responsible for calling 999, completing the accident report form and restocking the first aid kit. Appointed persons do not have to be first aid trained but I generally suggest they attend the 4 hour Basic Life Support course as a minimum, to give them some confidence to step forward and assess whether the emergency services are required and the self-belief that they can do something to help. Do get in touch about your workplace and I will help you through the assessment to ensure you are suitably covered. . . . #firstaidatwork #firstaidtraining #firstaidneeds #firstaidconfidence #firstaidwiltshire #FirstAidSkills #firstaidcertificate #firstaidcourse #wiltshirebusiness

I post this every year just before Easter, as mini eggs look like the perfect small treat for a child, and the range of colours and flavours is just so tempting. Please stay safe and choose larger hollow eggs instead. "With Easter coming up I want to warn you all about another deadly choking hazard, one that tragically took away my child. It has been just short of three years since my precious little girl Sophie passed away. She had choked on a mini egg and I was unable to dislodge it, even with back slaps and pushing up and under her ribs, I had done a first aid course only six months prior to this event so all the techniques to help a choking child were still fresh in my mind but it didn’t help, I watched the light slip away from my babies eyes, I tried in vain to save her. Sophie was 5 1/2 so not a tiny tot yet this seemingly harmless treat took my angel away. If your children enjoy these chocolate treats please watch them extra close and remind them to sit down whilst eating them or avoid them altogether". Extract from www.mumsadvice.co.uk I cannot imagine how this mum coped and my heart goes out to her. So brave to be able to put it in words in order to educate all other parents and childcare providers. Remember anything that is the size of their throat needs to be chewed carefully, so always make them sit down and keep an eye on them while they are eating, and never give to them in the car. . . #choking #minieggs #chokinghazard #firstaidtraining #childsafety #eastereggs #chocolateeggs #firstaidwiltshire

It's the start of Tick Bite Prevention Week. Yes, we are back in tick season (predominantly spring and autumn) so it’s important to avoid getting bitten and therefore potentially catching debilitating Lyme Disease. Prevention is always better than cure, so these top tips from @lymediseaseuk are worth noting. Ticks can be as small as a poppy seed, so easy to miss and their bites are not painful. Therefore, if you have been outdoors, especially in long grass, please do check yourselves fully, especially your dark, moist areas! See https://worsleytraining.co.uk/ticks-and-lyme-disease/ for a quick reminder of what to do (and not to do) if you find one. . . . . #tickborneillness #tickseason #ticksremoval #lymediseaseawareness #lymedisease #ticks #firstaidwiltshire #FirstAidSkills #firstaidatwork #outdoorlife #outdoorfirstaid #getoutdoors

Today is International Epilepsy Day, which is an initiative that unites people from around the world to raise awareness about epilepsy and its impact on individuals and communities. By shedding light on epilepsy, this day aims to dispel misconceptions, provide education, and foster a more inclusive and supportive society for those with epilepsy. So here is our short blog to remind you what to do and what not to do, if someone is having a seizure - A seizure is caused by abnormal bursts of electrical activity in the brain. There are many different types of seizures, depending on which area of the brain is being affected. They include focal, tonic, atonic, absence, tonic-clonic and myoclonic. A person who has epilepsy is prone to seizures but up to 5% of people will have a seizure in their lifetime. There are many causes including febrile convulsions, head injuries, hypoglycaemia, infection and poisoning. Tonic-clonic seizures are the type of seizure most people recognise. The person goes stiff, loses consciousness, falls to the floor and begins to jerk or convulse. If you witness this, firstly ensure that no-one does either of the 2 common misconceptions on the image. This is because they are very strong so can bite through objects in their mouth, which could block their airway. Also restraining them may cause injuries to them and you. Instead stay with them and: 🔹️protect them from injury 🔹️cushion their head 🔹️note the time 🔹️loosen any clothing around their neck 🔹️afterwards talk calmly to them, provide privacy and let them sleep in the recovery position Call 999 if: 🔹️it is their first seizure 🔹️it lasts longer than 5 minutes 🔹️one seizure follows another 🔹️any complications such as injuries or breathing difficulties . . . #InternationalEpilepsyDay #EpilepsyAwareness #SeizureEducation #SupportEpilepsy #PurpleDay #epilepsy #seizures #firstaidconfidence #firstaidtrainer #firstaidatwork #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidaidcourse #wiltshirefirstaid #wiltshirebusiness #Wiltshire

CPD - love it or loathe it? I've just spent 2 days in a room with 11 other Nuco Training first aid trainers and learnt so much. Every one of us had different backgrounds and experience, from front line ambulance workers, to army medics, outdoor instructors and a pub landlady. The willingness to share knowledge and different ways of teaching each topic was so valuable and will certainly make me a better trainer. So a very worthwhile use of my time and I also renewed my First Aid at Work for another 3 years (yes us trainers need a valid certificate too!). . . . . #cpdtraining #firstaidtraining #firstaidatwork #cpdcourses #firstaidtrainer #firstaidwiltshire #updates #wiltshirefirstaid #learningtogether #learnsomethinguseful #learnsomethingnew #learnsomethingneweveryday #peertopeer #peersupport #firstaid #skillsforlife #skillset #skillstraining

How was your January? We are totally back into the swing of things with 7 courses over the month. They were our usual mixture of 2 Emergency First Aid at Work courses to school teachers, 2 private Basic Life Support courses to a skin clinic and a podiatry clinic, 1 public Paediatric course and 1 public adult course, plus a 2 day Outdoor First Aid course for some Duke of Edinburgh and Walk leaders, which was taught by one of my associate trainers. My car said it was -7.5°C here in Wiltshire on the school run this morning, which is the coldest I've seen so far this year. What is it where you are? Therefore the only topic that seems relevant to post about is Hypothermia 🥶 The signs and symptoms are easily remembered by the 'Umbles'. So here are 5 words ending in 'umble' that describe your actions if you are cold in order of severity. No, 'crumble' is not one of them! 🔹️Grumbles – change in behaviour, expressing a negative attitude 🔹️Fumbles – slow reaction time, dropping objects, poor co-ordination 🔹️Mumbles – slurred, slowed, or incoherent speech, sleepiness or confusion 🔹️Stumbles – loss of control over movement, slowed motion, stiffness in extremities 🔹️Tumbles – falls unconscious Please remember that prevention is always better than cure but if treatment is required then - 🔸️Prevent further heat loss 🔸️Remove wet clothing 🔸️Provide shelter and insulation 🔸️Give food and drinks . . . #hypothermia #freezing #coldweather #winterweather #wintervibes #freezingcold❄️ #hypothermiaprevention #coldday❄️ #coldtemperature #preventioniskey #preventionisalwaysbetterthancure #preventionisbetterthancure #parentinglife #parentingtips #parenting #parentalresponsibility #mumsofinstagram #mumsadvice #mumsadvice_ig #mumsintheknow #firstaidtrainer #firstaidwiltshire #wiltshiremummy #firstaidaidcourse #firstaidtraining

Does it seem like everyone has some sort of cough or cold at the moment?! Apparently we've probably all got multiple flu and cold viruses simultaneously and it is due to our immune systems still adjusting from to a lack of mixing during lockdowns. Prior to visiting elderly relatives at Christmas, we dug out some Covid tests just to check we were ok. Even though they were still in date, we couldn't squeeze out 2 drops onto the testing strip, as all the liquid seemed to get absorbed into the swab. Has anyone else had that issue? Luckily our neighbour is a teacher and had some different ones that still worked and we were all negative. However this handy infographic would have told us straight away that we just had colds! A few days of rest, staying warm and hydrated, and maybe some paracetamol usually does the trick. Have any of your loved ones currently got any symptoms? Our daughter said the Headmaster had to pause assembly yesterday, as so many children were coughing! . . . #fluseason #cough #illnesses #covid19 #flu #coughremedy #winterflu #winterishere #coughandcold #flujab #covid #covidtest #viruses #firstaidtrainer #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidatwork #wiltshirefirstaid #firstaidcourse #parentinglife #parentlife #parentingtips #lookafteryourself

"Learning is a lifelong journey and in that vein on Saturday our staff from Nursery and Pre Prep attended their triennial first aid course with Worsley Training. It was an informative session covering a wide range of practical assessments that will help the team in the event of an emergency or in dealing with everyday knocks and scrapes. We thank them for their time during their weekend to ensure that our children are always in the safest possible hands." A lovely write up and photo from the @stfrancispewsey newsletter, about a course I taught there just before half term. Only 3 were willing to be in the photo with their glamorous head bandages but it was a nearly full group. Many of them were repeating the course with me, as their certificate only lasts for 3 years. It's interesting to see what they remember and naturally it is usually just what they have had to use. I always hope that no one ever has to use anything I have taught them, but 'dealing with the everyday knocks and scapes' is a standard part of working with small children. The fun and excitement of Fireworks and Bonfire Night are on the horizon, but we must remember to stay vigilant. History has proven time and again that prevention is always better than cure, so here are a few of my top tips to stay safe this autumn, followed by how to deal with burn injuries if things don’t quite go to plan! Fireworks always provoke wonderful reactions when lighting up the sky. Many people attend events run by professionals to high safety standards, but if you plan to light your own fireworks here are some top tips to remember: 🔹️Always buy fireworks from a reputable shop and check they conform to British standards 🔹️Have a first aid kit, bucket of sand, plenty of water and a fire blanket to hand 🔹️Keep fireworks in a closed box and never in your pocket 🔹️Only use one firework at a time 🔹️Light fireworks at arm’s length and stand well back 🔹️Remember to keep cigarettes, candles and other flames away from any fireworks 🔹️Finally, never return to a firework that’s already been lit – stay well clear! Sparklers are mesmerising and children love to wave them around writing their name in the air. But sparklers burn very powerfully and the metal handle heats up dramatically once they are lit. So be sensible and always ensure that children are wearing gloves when holding them or stick the end into a carrot for them to hold. Once they have burnt out, place them in a bucket of sand. Finally make sure you don’t let anyone touch them until they are completely cool. Have fun, take care of your loved ones and fingers crossed this storm passes and the weather stays dry! What to do if someone does get burnt? Every now and then I get asked whether suction-based devices are recommended to help someone who is choking, and I always refer to this page of the @resuscounciluk website: "Several suction-based airway clearance devices for the treatment of choking are now available in the UK. We do not currently support their use, as there is insufficient research and evidence on the safety or effectiveness of these devices. We are concerned that the use of these devices could delay established treatments for choking." Therefore the answer is currently No! #REPOST @stfrancispewsey You might think Year 2 are little young to be learning their ABCs, but in this case ABC stood for Airway, Breathing and Circulation as they were learning First Aid. The wonderful Louise from Worsley Training came in to teach our pupils across the school the fundamentals of First Aid. As you can see here, Year 2 especially enjoyed practising the Recovery Position! Whilst we very much hope that they will never have to use it, it's great to know that even some of our youngest pupils would know what to do in a medical emergency. It's official - I've now been teaching first aid for 16 years. A good enough excuse for cake?! 🥳 On 29th April 2007 I taught my first ever course to a group of teenagers who were heading off on an expedition to Tanzania. Nowadays, I also teach many small businesses and childcare providers. So since Easter, I have taught a group of personal trainers from @frucifiteducation; a group of staff at Bridge House hotel; day 2 of a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid course; a 2 day Outdoor First Aid course to mixture of walk leaders, adventure training instructors and staff from @youth_adventure_trust and a public Emergency First Aid at Work course in Marlborough. Plus Angie, one of my associates, taught a Basic Life Support course at @cotswoldcanoehire. I love the variety that my business offers and cheers to the next 16 years 🥂 What were you doing 16 years ago?! . . . #firstaidtraining #skillsforlife #firstaidcourse #wiltshire #lovemyjob #lovemybusiness #firstaidtrainer #firstaidwiltshire #FirstAidSkills #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessuk #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocal #womeninbusiness #businessowner #firstaidtraining

"Louise is an excellent first aid instructor. She made the course highly interesting, engaging and she injected humour when appropriate. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel much better equipped to deal with an emergency situation. I would whole-heartedly recommend this first aid course." Thanks Tony! I ran a fun outdoor first aid course last week and we were blessed with full sunshine on the first day! I've never had international students before but 2 gurkhas flew in from Cyprus especially, as they needed the course and also the mountain leader qualification for a trip they are organising to the Annapurna Circuit in the summer. I did that trek back in 1995 and it was the first time I had been to a decent altitude (Thorung La pass is 5416m) and would happily go back. I expect you are all aware of the test of the UK wide official emergency alarm system which is happening on Sunday at 3pm. All our smart phones will emit a 10 second siren and vibrate, even if they are on silent. I personally think that having an alert system is a good idea and I can understand why it needs testing. However the choice of the timing is rather baffling - apparently brought earlier so as not to disrupt a football match! So please think what you will be doing on Sunday at 3pm and consider switching off your phone entirely or switching off the alert as per this image from mailonline. I will be out horse riding then, so definitely do not want my phone going off. So anyone out driving, in a theatre, running the London Marathon, concealing a secret phone or who may be scared by the siren, should definitely switch it off. Please check on any elderly relatives and neighbours that they are aware of what is happening. After my horse ride I will switch the emergency alert back on, just in case it is ever needed in a real emergency. . . . #emergencyalerttest #emergencyalertsystem #smartphonealert #emergencyresponse #wiltshirebusiness #wiltshirelife #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidberkshire #westberkshire #savealife #firstaid #firstaidcourse #firstaidtips #firstaidtraining #firstaider #firstaidinschools #firstaidtotheinjured #firstaiders #firstaidclass #firstaidskills #firstaidcpr #firstaidtrainer #firstaidatwork #firstaidcertified

That moment when you are flicking through a flip chart in a client training room and discover your scribbles from your last visit! As always, it was a pleasure to teach the staff and clients at @the_livestock_partnership a tailored Emergency First Aid at Work course last week. Vets and farmers are often lone workers, far from a house and with unreliable mobile reception. Therefore there are always some great discussions around the 'what if' situations and any protocols that can put in place now, just in case. My extensive outdoor first aid experience, coupled with my knowledge of growing up on a dairy farm, helps me to understand their situations and hopefully make the training as relevant as possible. . . . . #vetlife #veterinary #firstaidtraining #outdoorliving #dairyfarming #firstaidtrainer #firstaidkit #firstaidwiltshire #wiltshirelife #learningtogether #learnsomethinguseful #learnsomethingnew #bespokefirstaid #savealife #cprtraining #outdoorfirstaid #outdoorlearning #getoutdoors #farmerlife #bleeding #drabc #primarysurvey #preservelife

With the ambulance crisis and NHS strikes, sadly you may be waiting for a long time before help arrives. Therefore I was interviewed yesterday on the BBC Radio Wiltshire breakfast show sharing some top tips for giving first aid while you are waiting. I've popped the link on the linktree in my bio. Listen at 1:08:56 - 1:12:50 for what to do if the patient is conscious and 3:27 - 3:31:15 if the patient is unconscious. Friendly warning that Baby Shark or Stayin' Alive might become an ear worm from that second clip though! Also on the news at 1:01:55 and 3:02:14 you can hear me sharing a top tip just before Prince Harry is heard defending his book. Correct order of importance perhaps?! 😉 . . #bbcradio #nhs #ambulanceservice #firstaid #bbcradiowiltshire #radiointerview #firstaidtrainer #firstaidwiltshire #wiltshirelife #wiltshirefirstaid #wiltshirebusiness #wiltshire #firstaidtraining #savealife #helpingoneanother #helpingothers #whattodo #cprtraining #cprsaveslives #recoveryposition #drabc #goodsamaritan

Which number to call? ☎️ 999 - the main emergency number in the UK (and 20 other countries) ☎️ 112 - another emergency number which works throughout Europe (including UK) and most other developed countries in the world - useful to know when on holiday / business travel ☎️ 111 - the national non-emergency number for medical advice (replaced the old NHS direct number) ☎️ 101 - the national non-emergency number for the police (when you are not in immediate danger) Points to note - 📞 use a landline if available as easier to track your actual location, mobile signals will only place you within a few hundred metres 📞 999 and 112 direct you to the same call centre 📞 If calling from a motorway you can use the roadside phones to pinpoint your location 📞 your phone will use network coverage from any provider - it doesn't need to be the one you subscribe to. You will not be able to receive any calls on that network. 📞 All of the above numbers are free (101 only since 2020) 📞 911 also works in the UK as so many children learn it from tv programmes! Did you know that you can text the emergency services? If you are ever going to be in an area with poor mobile signal then it is worth registering your phone by texting 'register' to 999. I nearly always have my best ideas while out on my dog walks.... Autumn is certainly here. The fun filled, carefree summer days are behind us and the mood has changed to a calmer, more focused one. So, as I was admiring the changing leaves, I was thinking what I really love about my business and what tweaks are needed. I am grateful to only have a couple of teaching days still available this year, as otherwise I am fully booked. However, some of these bookings are long term clients in London, which I have kept doing since we moved out 4 years ago, as they are fun and I am loyal. But I really dislike the 2 hour drive each way and am exhausted when I get home. So I have asked a couple of lovely colleagues if they would take on the contracts next year, so the clients are not left in the lurch and I can stay more local. Also quite a few bookings are on Saturdays. Our children are 8 and 10 and growing fast. The weekends are when we hang out as a family and have treats, alongside all the sporting activities and friends parties. I don't want to miss too much of that. So weekend bookings now have a 15% added premium to hopefully make clients think twice about choosing a weekday if they can. Looking forward to still being fully booked in 2023 but closer to home and less weekends! . . . . #businessowner #businessgoals #2023goals #autumnmood #reflect #firstaidtrainer #firstaid #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidtraining #smallbusinessuk #womeninbusiness #smallbusinessowner #wiltshirelife #wiltshirebusiness #wiltshirebusinesswomen #businessstrategy #worklifebalance

We are heading into a 'Twindemic' apparently?! I've just read a BBC article that states that because both the Covid and Winter Flu viruses are now circulating together, we may need to brace ourselves for a bad winter of illnesses. If you are eligible for a Covid booster, then you may be offered a flu jab at the same time. Also, we have just consented for our primary school children to receive their nasal spray flu vaccine soon. Otherwise, you can usually book and pay for a flu jab at your local pharmacy at this time of year. However, no jabs are 100% effective so you may still have flu, if you have any of the following symptoms: - fever (temperature above 38C) - aches - tiredness or exhaustion - dry, chesty cough - sore throat - headache - loss of appetite - tummy pain or diarrhoea - nausea and being sick Call 999 if you develop sudden chest pain, have difficulty breathing or start coughing up blood. See your GP if symptoms don't improve after 7 days or you're worried, but for most people it will clear up on its own after a few days with lots of fluids, rest and paracetamol. Do you know anyone who has tested positive in the last few weeks? I'm aware of 3 locally 😥 . . . . #winteriscoming #winterflu #fluseason #covidbooster #flujab #fluseason #flu #wintervibes #covidtest #fever #twindemic #firstaid #firstaidwiltshire #wiltshirelife #paediatricfirstaidtraining #firstaidtraining #firstaidtrainer #mumsintheknow #parentlife #helpingoneanother

I ran a 2 day Outdoor First Aid combined with Forest School First Aid course in Upavon last weekend. We had a great group and the weather was kind, meaning we spent far more time training outdoors than indoors. I really enjoy teaching this course as there is time for good discussions and scenarios to really embed the learning. The reviews that have been posted so far imply that the participants also were happy to give up their weekend to learn these valuable skills! | Hay Fever | A gorgeous view on my dog walk yesterday, but maybe not appreciated by hayfever sufferers? Both my husband and son get affected but neither of them have shown any symptoms yet this year, but I expect it won't be long. Do you know anyone who is suffering yet? According to Allergy UK between 10 and 30% of adults suffer from hay fever. Around 90% of those are allergic to grass pollen, with peak irritability being between May and July, but tree and weed pollens can also cause hay fever, and these range between February and September.   The typical symptoms of hayfever are: · A runny or blocked nose · Sneezing and coughing · Itchy or watery eyes   Hay fever is treated with antihistamine tablets / nasal sprays and eye drops (unless you are pregnant). Start taking them up to 4 weeks before you normally get symptoms to build up the medication in your bloodstream before the pollen starts being released. Ask your pharmacist to help you find the right anti-histamine for you as there are various options. Own brand or non-branded ones are cheaper than branded ones and work just as well.   Steroid nasal sprays help unblock your nose but it can take some time to feel the benefits. Start using it 2 weeks before your symptoms usually begin. They work by reducing the swelling in your nose so you can breathe more easily. A saline nasal spray may also help you feel more comfortable.   Locally made honey can improve resistance but avoiding exposure is unfortunately the best solution, unless you believe the rumour that gin may help?!   Finally after being outside, change your clothes and have a shower to wash off any pollen, and try to keep windows and doors shut as much as possible. . . . . #hayfever #asthma #hayfeversucks #asthmasucks #firstaidtraining #savealife #helpingothers #aid #firstaid #wiltshire #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidhampshire #firstaidberkshire #learningtogether #spreadingtheword #itsnevertoolatetolearn  #learnsomethinguseful #lovemyjob #supportsmallbusiness #firstaidcourse #mumsintheknow #parentssavinglives #firstaidforkids #firstaidforparents #smallbusinessowners #smallbusinesslove #lovewhatyoudodowhatyoulove #ukbusiness #didyouknow

#Repost - @dancing_flavours Yesterday, alongside other #smallbusinesses I enjoyed a very informative, life saving #firstaid training with @worsleytraining #devizes. Louise shared her wealth of experience with us in a serious but lighthearted way. The course comprised theory, demo and practical. And she tailored it to every business in the room. Highly recommend this course with Louise. Hailey Bieber had a mini stroke last month, aged 25. More commonly known as a TIA - transient ischemic attack - it was caused by a clot interrupting the blood supply in her brain. She recovered fully without any surgery but it shows that you can have a stroke at any age and any symptoms must get checked. This screenshot @goodmorningamericanews article explains the signs and symptoms brilliantly if you fancy a quick web search. In the UK, the Stroke Association publicises the FAST test - • F - Is the casualty's face droopy on one side. Are they struggling to smile? Maybe their eye or mouth has dropped on one side   • A - Can the casualty lift both arms above their head. If they can make sure they can hold them up in the air for a few seconds. If one drops quickly this can be a sign   • S - Is the casualties speech slurred or garbled? Can they talk at all, even if they are awake?   • T - If you see any of these symptoms, its time call 999 straight away, the quicker the casualty has medical assistance the higher the likelihood of a full recovery.   Even if the symptoms disappear, make sure they still go to the hospital for an assessment as it could be a warning. . . . . #strokes #stroke #strokeawareness #strokerecovery #firstaidskills #savealife #symptoms #wiltshirebusiness #wiltshirelife #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidberkshire #westberkshire #savealife #firstaid #firstaidkit #firstaidcourse #firstaidtips #firstaidkits #firstaidtraining #firstaider #firstaidinschools #firstaidtotheinjured #firstaiders #firstaidclass #firstaidskills #firstaidcpr #firstaidtrainer #firstaidatwork #firstaidcertified

I post this every year before Easter, as mini eggs look like the perfect small treat for a child, and the range of colours and flavours is just so tempting. Please stay safe and choose another treat. Remember anything that is the size of their throat needs to be chewed carefully, so always make them sit down and keep an eye on them while they are eating. Most first aid certificates last for 3 years, during which time your first aid skills and knowledge will inevitably fade, potentially with serious consequences.  As a result it is strongly recommended that you attend an annual update to refresh the emergency topics. My interactive, 2 hour virtual sessions are suitable for all sectors, as I cover both adult and paediatric protocols.  It demonstrates best practice and ensures your first aid knowledge is kept up to date, all from the comfort of your own home!  Please note that attendance does not extend the validity of your existing qualification. Course content: 🔹️Incident management 🔹️Unconscious casualties 🔹️The safe airway position 🔹️Choking 🔹️CPR 🔹️Defibrillator use Cost: £20 per household Do message me with any queries or to book please visit www.worsleytraining.co.uk/book-a-course (link in bio) and scroll down to your chosen date. . . . . . #firstaidtraining #StayUpToDate #onlinelearning2021 #FirstAidSkills #firstaidcourse #savealife #learningisfun #helpingothers #aid #firstaid #giftoflife #wiltshire #firstaidwiltshire #firstaidhampshire #firstaidberkshire #learningtogether #bleeding #cpr #spreadingtheword #firstaidkit #itsnevertoolatetolearn  #learnsomethinguseful #lovemyjob #supportsmallbusiness #firstaidcourse #mumsintheknow #parentssavinglives #firstaidforkids #firstaidforparents

Happy Valentine's day and also International Epilepsy Day 💘 Someone who is epileptic is prone to seizures but up to 5% of people will have a seizure at some point in their lives. There are many other causes including febrile convulsions, head injuries, hypoglycaemia, infection and poisoning. There are over 4000 different types of seizures so they obviously vary widely but let's focus on first aid for a major (tonic/clonic) seizure. Firstly let's bust a couple of myths: ❓Should you put something in their mouth? ❎ When someone is having a seizure they are very strong, so they can bite through objects in their mouth which could block their airway ❓Should you restrain them? ❎ Restraining them may cause injuries to them and you Instead, stay with them and: 🔹️protect them from injury 🔹️cushion their head 🔹️note the time 🔹️loosen clothing around their neck 🔹️afterwards talk calmly, provide privacy and let them sleep in the recovery position Call 999 if - 🔹️it is their first seizure 🔹️it lasts longer than 5 minutes 🔹️one seizure follows another 🔹️any complications such as injuries or breathing difficulties Finally if you wonder what to do if they are in a wheelchair, then read our short blog - link in bio. . . . . #epilepsyday #seizures #epilepsy #firstaidforseizures #grandmal #seizure #fit #firstaidtraining #learnsomethinguseful #whatdoido #febrileconvulsions #keepthemsafe #keepcalm #learnanewthingeveryday #firstaid #firstaidwiltshire #wiltshire #firstaidhampshire #savealife #helpingothers #norestraint #danger #hazards #protect #calling999 #emergencyservices #injuries #breathing #airways
