오랜동안 저는 마음 속에 성소(聖所) 같은 나무세그루를 간직하고 있었습니다. Ombu, Banyan, 그리고 Baobab tree 입니다. 이 세나무는 모두 키와 몸둘레가 20m가 넘는 거인입니다. Ombu(사진 1~3)는 남미의 아르헨티나의 대평원인 Pampas가 주거지이지만 수도 부에노스아이레스에서도 쉽게 만날 수 있습니다. 차로 서너시간을 달려도 사람을 볼 수 없이 광활한 대평원인 팜파스를 지키고 있는 것은 옴부입니다. 남미의 유랑 목동 Gaucho에게는 등대이자 햇볕을 가려주는 우산이자 쉼터가 되어주지요. 저도 아르헨티나에 살 때 우울하거나 슬플 때는 어머니 품같이 넉넉한 옴부나무 아래서 위안을 얻었습니다. Banyan tree(사진 4~6)는 가지에서 내려온 공중 뿌리(Ariel root)가 땅에 닿는 즉시 뿌리 를 내리고 또 다른 반얀으로 성장합니다. 이런 과정이 반복되면서 반얀 한그루는 빗줄기처럼 수 없이 많은 자식 나무를 거느리면서 거대한 숲을 만듭니다. 4000개가 넘는 줄기가 내려와 6000여평을 점거해서 나무사이를 오래 산책해도 될 만큼 넉넉합니다. 인도의 국목(國木)으로, 인도인은 이 나무를 신성시해서 사원 주변에 꼭 심었습니다. 하와이에는 해변이나 공원은 물론 거리에서도 반얀트리를 쉽게 만날 수 있습니다. 반얀트리 숲에 들어가 그품에 안기면 세상사가 주는 온갖 번뇌를 쉽게 털어내게 되지요. 그래서 소설가 무라카미 하루키도 하와이를 지극하게 사랑한 걸 까요? 인도양의 섬나라 Madagascar에 둥지를 틀고있는 Baobab 나무(사진 7~9)도 제 마음을 온퉁 빼앗아 간 나무입니다. 뿌리를 하늘로 두고 물구나무 서기를 한 듯한 기이하고 특이한 형태에 어찌 마음을 뺏기지 않을 수 있겠습니까. 게다가 수천년을 같은 장소를 굳건히 지키는 끈기 앞에 숙연해집니다. 대부분의 나무들이 그렇지만 바오밥은 아낌없이 온 몸을 인간에게 바칩니다. 마다가스카르에서는 사람이 죽은 뒤에 나무에 구멍을 뚫고 시체를 매장하고, 껍질은 섬유로, 열매는 음식으로, 잎과 가지는 사료로 제공합니다, 게다가 몸통을 저수지로 내어주어 건기에는 물을 저장했다가 나누어 주지요. 옴부와 반얀은 많이 접했지만 바오밥은 아직 만나지 못해서 꿈으로 남아있있는데 18년 동안 마다가스카르를 28번 방문한 @shin_misik 신미식 사진 작가(사진 8&9)의 개인전에서 갈증을 조금 잠재웠습니다. 나무의 온기, 위로, 겸허함, 긍정 에너지, 강직함은 평생 스승으로 모셔도 모자람이 없을 것입니다. 오늘도 거대한 세 스승이 전해주는 교훈을 고개 숙여 받으려합니다. #세계장신구박물관 #내마음의성지 #gianttree #ombutee #Argentina #pampa #gaucho #banyantree #arielroot #Hawaii #murakamiharuki #baobabtree #Madagascar #온몸으로주는나무 #신미식 #나무의가르침

Im Naturschutzgebiet stehen über 500 Jahre alte Eichen majestätisch in der Landschaft. Ein Highlight für alle Natur- und Baumfreunde. Der Eichenwald Wildenstein ist eine der wenigen erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Kulturlandschaften der Schweiz. Die Eiche ist eine der wichtigsten einheimischen Baumarten und spielte schon vor Jahrtausenden in vielen Kulturen wie bei den Römern, Kelten oder Germanen eine wichtige Rolle. Eichen dienten beispielsweise als Gerichtsbäume, Versammlungsorte oder zur Herstellung von Heilmitteln (Eichenrinde). Der Niedergang der Eiche begann im 18. Jh. Die meisten großen Eichenwälder der Region fielen Mitte des 19. Jh. dem Eisenbahnbau zum Opfer. Das Eichenholz wurde zur Herstellung von Eisenbahnschwellen verwendet. Heute wird die Eiche wieder gefördert. Denn keine andere Baumart Mitteleuropas bietet so vielen Lebewesen Lebensraum und Nahrung wie die Stiel- und Traubeneiche. Happy #ThickTrunkTuesday from the Octopus Tree on kunanyi/ Mount Wellington, above Hobart, Tasmania. This enormous eucalypt towers above its peers on the slopes of kunanyi, but the most remarkable feature is its many buttressed roots, engulfing an equally massive boulder. I have to admit that I was too enthralled by the magnificence of its roots and trunk to look for identifying features, and returned down the mountain to find it is listed variably as Eucalyptus delegatensis (Alpine Ash) and Eucalyptus regnans (Mountain Ash), where I had assumed it a Messmate (Eucalyptus obliqua). 福島県郡山市稲荷神社の子授け桜 未だに郡山市中田町から抜け出せない程素敵な一本桜が点在している 県道を逸れて一本奥の道を進むと長閑な田園が広がる里山がある ポツンと一軒の民家がありその脇に畦道と見間違うような参道が続く ニの鳥居をくぐり出迎えたのは幹囲6m弱もある立派なエドヒガンザグラである ベニシダレザクラではない 根元には幹に寄りかかるように倒れた案内板 文字は消えかかって解読は不可能だったが「子授け櫻」の文字が読める 裏に回ると幹に架かる梯子が一本 風情もないなと思うも実はこの梯子は重要な役割をしていた 梯子を登り、木を跨ぐと子宝に恵まれる言い伝えががあるそうだ そこからこの「子授け櫻」と名が付いたのである 稲荷神社のこの御神木は幹囲5.9m、樹高は目測ながら約20m強ある 推定樹齢は200年と云われている 菜の花と青空と桜が素敵な場所であった #巨樹 #巨木 #bigtree #gianttree #福島県 #郡山市 #中田町 #子授け桜 #御神木 #巨樹探訪 #巨樹巡り #fukushima #車中泊 #cherry
