In terms of how pines (or trees in general) with 'slenderness' issues typically fail (last pic) - this tree is an anomaly. The root system was still intact when the stem failed at the point where the stem joins the roots (base/buttress/flare). The base split on the windward side as the tree bent beyond the 'maximum' - the leeward side buckled under the pressure. Lack of taper in combination with rare wind events can sometimes make young trees fail. In particular trees that quickly grow above the protection of their neighbours. Height over diameter is sometimes used to estimate tree stability or safety factors. When learning the squat as a beginner, numerous “basic” cues are used to help execute a squat with good technique. Common cues like “chest up,” “sit back,” and “push knees out” are often employed. The ‘knees out’ cue involves externally rotating the femur, which can bias certain muscle groups at different ranges of motion. However, excessive emphasis on pushing the knees out can interfere with hip internal rotation. Internal rotation of the hip is an essential component of squat movement, particularly in the descent phase. It facilitates proper hip and pelvic positioning and enables efficient engagement of the adductors. In a 2010 study, the results suggested that performing the squat with 30° of external rotation could increase hip adductor activity despite the low percentage of muscle activation. Previous studies (Vigotsky & Bryanton, 2016) indicate that the adductors become the primary hip extensor during deep hip flexion. When the knees are pushed outward (externally rotated), the adductors can assist in stabilizing the knee joint, preventing excessive outward movement. Therefore, exploring roughly 30° of external rotation may be beneficial for maximizing adductor usage. A lifter can perform varying degrees of external rotation based on hip structure and mobility. Når vi laver presøvelser til overkroppen, kan vi indstille på forskellige ting, som vil komme til at have betydning for, hvilke muskler der har bedst mulighed for at arbejde.   På skemaet (slide 3), vil I kunne se nogle eksempler på hvad man kan gøre, for at bias de forskellige muskler (eller dele heraf) en smule mere, og tilpasse øvelserne i sit program, så de passer til den målsætning man har.   Når vi snakker om stabilitet i det ’sagitale plan’, vil det være det plan, som deler kroppen i højre og venstre. Når man arbejder med en stang eller smithstativ, nedsætter man kravene til koordinationen mellem højre og venstre side, som der ellers er store krav til, når man arbejder med håndvægte, eller i maskiner som ikke arbejder sammen ift. højre og venstre side.   (Det skal lige nævnes, at der stadig er høje stabilitetskrav, f.eks. i en almindelig bænkpres med stang, fordi det er en ’fri’ øvelse der involverer flere led, men dette er blot for at sige, at denne fiksering mellem højre og venstre arm også har en betydning for de arbejdende muskler)   Som skrevet på skemaet, vil man ikke kunne ’slukke’ for de muskler som også bidrager til en bevægelse, men man vil kunne bias/favorisere den eller de muskler, som man ønsker at have fokus på. Get into positions and movements that are specific to what you need, what you might lack capacity and strength in and give the nervous system no option but to work and adapt. Is there a link between flat feet and jaw pain?🦶🏻 Could your feet be contributing to the pain in your jaw? The answer is YES. The body is a very complex structure and each part is interconnected. The feet are the foundation or cornerstone of the body. If these are in a poor position, the rest of the body will have to compensate and may suffer. 3 main issues are seen as contributing. Flat feet, leg length difference and poor big toe joint function. Flat feet: Flat feet is generally a term describing ‘fallen arches.’ Most of the time, this is genetic in nature but sometimes it can be an acquired condition due to an injury or dysfunction in the foot. ‘Rolling in’ or pronation is often associated with flat feet. A certain amount of pronation is normal and is necessary for shock absorption in the body. However, too much pronation for too long will stop the foot from propelling the body forward smoothly and efficiently. Flat feet alter your walk and the way you stand and move, resulting in strain through soft tissue structures, postural dysfunction, and inefficient walking patterns.
