A new photo and slightly altered post accompany this recent rewatch. Something “Malignant” (2021) has entered a woman’s (Annabelle Wallis•The Mummy 2017) life and its very presence threatens to destroy her. Madison (Wallis) is having a rough go of things lately, but the arrival of something sinister overshadows any prior trauma and begins to draw her deep into a twisted nightmare. Filmmaker James Wan (Dead Silence 2007) delivers a true creepfest that boasts liberal doses of Body Horror mixed with a Slasher sensibility. The genre nods don’t stop there, however. The movie has a strong Giallo visual style with a touch of J-Horror infusion thrown in for good measure. It’s quirky, slightly weird, definitely original, and quite unlike much of the director’s past fare. Now, whether or not you’re hooked depends on your acceptance of the rather Cronenbergian premise. The motion picture offers grisly kills, buckets of blood, gore galore, and a reveal that has gotta be seen to be believed. I, for one, am a huge fan of this movie and think it’s worth checking out. This is the kinda watch that’s best enjoyed spoiler free. #jameswan #malignant #4kuhd #4kultrahd #horrorguy #gayhorrorfan #horrormoviereview #horrormoviereviews #horrormovieaddict #horrorfilme #horrorfilmfan #ilovehorror #ilovehorrormovies #horrorgeeks #horrornerds

🎂🩸Bloody Birthday (1981)🩸🎂 On this day 43 years ago, Bloody Birthday (1981) was released. Have you seen this movie? What did you think? You would think a movie about 3 sociopathic kids would seem pretty gimmicky but it definitely works here. Personally I would’ve preferred if there were only 2 kids since 2 are technically the focal point but other than that I really enjoyed the film. Not enough blood for a kid slasher movie but at least the kills were okay and hey they had nudity 🤷🏻‍♂️ The acting was great all around especially from the kid actors. They definitely nailed down the evil smirk & crazy eyes and had a lot of skills at a young age. It’s pretty fast paced so it keeps you on your toes & attention. That ending scene was everything I could ask for! I’m a sucker for twisted endings. To wrap this up in a popular beautiful haiku: FUCK THEM KIDS! Letterboxd Review: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🪐 🔥 Mandy (2018) 🔥 🪐 “She’s still burning! She burns! She burns!” That scene where they’re laying down talking about planets was so aesthetically beautiful and so gentle. From the color grading to the music score playing through the calm conversation. If you’re not into slowburners then this movie isn’t for you & stay away from it so you don’t give it a low rating. You’re not worthy of enjoying this beauty. I’ll admit there was some cheesy one liners I can do without but overall, a great film. While the movie is a slow burn, you are busy being entranced by the beautiful color grading throughout the film, the scene setups, the transitions, the animation sequences, the beautiful score & the distortion of the dialogue. I felt like I was on drugs watching the film. Once the action starts kicking off you’ll be in for a ride. If you’re into metal, you’re going to appreciate a lot of scenes 🤘🏻 The relationship between Red and Mandy was so beautiful yet so tragic. Both are undergoing stuff from their past & trying to have a healthy love life & to see what unfolds throughout the movie between them hurts so much. Nicholas Cage did a phenomenal job in this movie.

OTD in 2002, Jim Isaac’s camp classic, JASON X was released in theaters in the States! Tagline: EVIL HAS AN UPGRADE. 🤖🔪 Story: In the year 2455, Old Earth is now a contaminated planet abandoned for centuries – a brown world of violent storms, toxic landmasses and poisonous seas. Yet humans have returned to the deadly place that they once fled, not to live, but to research the ancient, rusting artifacts of the long-gone civilizations. But it’s not the harmful environment that could prove fatal to the intrepid, young explorers who have just landed on Old Earth. For them, it’s Friday the 13th, and Jason lives! Mini Review: Nostalgia glasses on, I must confess that this was the first Friday the 13th movie that I was able to watch in theaters, so I have particularly fond memories of this sequel. The movie itself features some low budget sci-fi camp, sassy dialogue, and some (probably unintentional) queer coding. The rainbow reflection on Jason’s mask is just chef’s kiss. This feels more like a tv movie and the score is basic af, but hey, Jason gets to transition into a futuristic leather daddy. Live your best life Jason! REVIEW: Abigail (2024) 🧛🏻‍♀️🩰 “What are we talking about, like an Anne Rice or a True Blood? You know Twilight? Very different kind of vampires,” well it’s time to add Abigail to the list because this movie is definitely worth the watch. On paper a movie about a ballerina-vampire little girl sounds like something to skip, but luckily this movie is a lot more than that and is a hell of a fun ride. The film is filled with many comedy beats without forgetting its horror decorum, and ultimately delivers as a horror film. I appreciate that the film has this sort of “whodunit” and “haunted house” feel to it, which pairs well with the playfulness of the movie. The movie manages to not lose its “classic universal monster” feel, by not over relying on modern present props and by its single location in this sort of gothic house. The best part of the movie is definitely its cast! This ensemble works very well, and there is not one character that falls short. Each character feels complete, well utilized, and easy to root for. My personal stand-outs will definitely have to be Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton, and Alisha Weir as Abigail. Do y’all really wanna miss watching a vampire-ballerina play with her food?! I THINK NOT. So grab your candy and go watch this movie right now. 👨🏻‍💻 Rating: 4 out of 5

🕯️ House of Wax (1953) 🕯️ “The whole place is a morgue!” On this day 66 years ago, House of Wax (1959) was released in the U.S. Have you seen this movie? Were you a fan of the remake? Another point for horror movies in the 50’s era. This movie has a great opening scene, great second act, an intermission sequence and an intense final act. Think of Jack the Ripper out on the prowl wanting to put his murders in a museum for the world to see his art. While the plot twist was pretty obvious due to me watching way too many horror movies & I can’t shut my brain off to theorize, I was still able to enjoy it and didn’t take away anything from the shock value. So unsettling knowing you’re in a museum of corpses around portraying historical figures. Oh to have a friend who knows every inch and detail of your body to find your murder lol Now to watch Mystery of the Wax Museum.

🩸🧛🏻‍♀️🩰 Abigail (2024) 🩰🧛🏻‍♀️🩸 Have you watched this movie or are planning to watch it? If you’ve seen it, what did you think? What was your favorite scene? If you like blood and fun, then you are in for a treat. This movie was such a good watch. I went in with low expectations & it did not disappoint. All the actors got to shine in the film & no one was left as a secondary or throwaway character. The protagonist were strong and the antagonist were strong. I was enamored with the utilization of ballet for Abigail’s attacks throughout the fight scenes. It was like the whole house was her stage & we are watching her perform Swan Lake in front of us. The strong twirls, the elegant leaps, the soft movements & the flexibility, ugh so beautiful! There was enough seriousness to the film mixed in with humor sprinkled around to make the movie interesting. There was something about Kathryn Newton’s performance that was giving me Jennifer Jolie vibes & I was living for it! Melissa was so strong and such a bad ass in this movie and I was rooting for her from beginning to end cause she knew she got the hand to hand combat in her. Both Angus and Kevin were so lovable. Lastly, Alisha as Abigail was casted so well because she was SERVING!!!! I applaud her for acting so well alongside the cast. There were some scenes where I did feel like it was a bit dragging but it didn’t take away from how good this film was overall. Definitely has rewatch value & that last act was intense and brutal!!! 🔥 Kathryn’s dance number while panning back and forth between her & Abigail was 😮‍💨🤌🏻💋 *Chef’s Kiss* and the sun hitting her 🔥

🐈‍⬛ 🛻 Pet Sematary (1989) 🛻 🐈‍⬛ “Daddy, I wanna play with youuuu” On this day 35 years ago, Pet Sematary (1989) was released. Have you seen the movie or read the book? 🤔 What are you thoughts? I remember seeing this movie as a kid & so many memes about it and with the anniversary coming up I decided to finally give this a rewatch. With a name like Pet Sematary I thought this movie was going to have way more undead animals. But I can forgive that for what a great movie this was. It’s a good representation of what the loss of child can drive you to do. The father was willing to do anything for his family. And that ending was also a good reminder of that. I was a big fan of the ghostly presence & the dream sequences. Rachel’s sister Zelda was truly haunting and unsettling. My only negatives are that I felt there was a lot things that could’ve been explored & some acting choices. But overall, I enjoyed this movie a lot. One of Stephen King’s strongest movies. What’s your favorite Stephen King adaptation ?

OTD in 1973, Bill Gunn’s vampire classic, ‘Ganja & Hess!’ began its theatrical release in the States! Tagline: SOME MARRIAGES ARE MADE IN HEAVEN. OTHERS ARE MADE IN HELL. Story: After being stabbed with an ancient, germ-infested knife, a doctor finds himself with an insatiable desire for blood. Mini Review: Dreamy, visually stunning, and an arthouse horror classic. Happy 420 espooky friends! After much anticipation, I was able to check out ABIGAIL in theaters. It did not disappoint! Check out my review above and below. Did you see Abigail yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. 🦇 🩰 Review: Filmmaking team, Radio Silence brings us Abigail, a loose reimagining of the Universal classic, Dracula’s Daughter. The film shines with its action sequences, well timed humor, and stellar ensemble cast. From the opening dance sequence (Alisha weir is perfect!), to the mansion setting, and the bloody explosions, this film is full of surprises and looks gorgeous throughout. My only negatives is that the story could have been scarier, and the sound mixing was a bit hit or miss in some scenes, but overall was not too distracting. Commanded by dynamic performances from scream queens Melissa Barrera and Kathryn Newton, this is a fun and bloody film meant to be experienced with a packed audience. Rating: 4.5/5 Pinky Promises

🎃 Dark Harvest (2023) 🎃 “Ain’t no stop signs on the black road” Have you seen this film? Did you like or was it a flop for you? One of the movies I was highly anticipated to watch but waited to watch because life happens. This movie makes a great movie to watch every year during Halloween season. I enjoyed the setting of the 60’s, the cornfield & a good creature feature with some yearly tribute. This movie while being really good, seemed very predictable. Within a couple of minutes, I couldn’t fully enjoy the film because my brain was going everywhere with theories and ideas that all turned out to be true. I am a huge reader so I definitely want to check out the book before giving it another rewatch. But overall, the film was great. It had amazing kills, great acting, a fun story & again the overall creature design was sooo good!! There’s some things I would’ve personally changed & some things that are left to question but I would watch this again. Side note: I wish the epilogue was much more stronger. It was a good try but I expected more for that movie with THAT ending.

🧛🏻Lost Boys Swag - Santa Cruz🧛🏻 When in Santa Cruz of course I had to pick up some Lost Boys swag, when visiting one of the Lost Boys locations @atlantisfantasyworld1020 , I picked up the Vampires Everywhere the comic Sam Emerson ( Corey Haim) reads in the film. I also picked up a nice little magnet , but the holy grail from the trip was the lost boys comic. In the follow-up to the 1987 cult classic film, horror masters Tim Seeley and Scott Godlewski wade into the bloody, badass world of California vampires for an all-new tale of thrills, chills, and good old-fashioned heart-staking action in THE LOST BOYS VOL. 1! 🧛🏻🧛🏻🧛🏻🧛🏻🧛🏻 #thelostboys #vampireseverywhere #lostboyscomic #timseeley #scottgodlewski #horrorcomics #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #horrornerds #horrorgeeks #horrorobsessed #horrormemorabilia #instahorror #horroroftheday

🧸🐷🍯🩸Winnie the Pooh: Blood Honey (2023) 🩸🍯🐷🧸 “Silly Old Bear!” When I first heard news about this + the movie poster and movie title I was so excited to see what they would do with this. Seeing the trailer peeked my interest. I finally got around to watch this movie in March. I see a lot of bad ratings for it and damn y’all really don’t like fun lol Pros: The intro to the movie + the animation shots was soooo good! Super creepy and a good set up for the movie. I actually liked the design of Pooh and Piglet. While I wish they kept true to the original outfit: Pooh only had a red crop top shirt & Piglet with its one piece bikini) I still enjoyed it. Especially seeing Pooh’s eyes when Pooh had a flashback + the saliva dripping down was so haunting. The kills were INSANEEEEEE!!! Cons: The acting was a huge miss for me. not to mention how questionable things: the wife didn’t believing Christopher about his friends yet suddenly feeling scared out of nowhere. And also how the female protagonist & Christopher were truly distraught towards one another but literally don’t know each other & didn’t feel as bad when her friends died. I honestly wish the female protagonist and Christopher had some sort of relationship whether it be a sister, childhood neighbor, gf, ex, ANYTHING so that way the ending can make sense.

🩸 💀 Pet Semetary - Blood Lines 🩸💀 Watched - courtesy of the flight to San Fransisco! Pet Semetary - Bloodlines doesn’t have a patch on the original but it’s certainly better than the remake. The movie was really well done for a modern day horror and the story was what is important although they strayed from it by making it during the Vietnam war instead of WW2 like it was explained by Judd himself in the original movie. Either way I was very surprised at how good it was after seeing user reviews. If you are a fan of the Pet Sematary franchise you will enjoy this movie. If your not familiar with Pet Semetary or the books etc, you may want to start with the original. Ok watch, enjoyed it , probably no rewatch value though. #petsematary #petsemetarybloodlines #letterboxd #letterboxdreview #moviereview #filmreview #horrorreview #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #horrormovies #horrorgeeks #horrornerds #horroroftheday #horrorobsessed 🩸🩸1/2- 5

✊🏻 Summer Camp Nightmare (1987) ✊🏻 On this day 37 years ago, Summer Camp Nightmare (1987) was released. Have any of you heard of this film or seen it? 🤔 Strong title and interesting cover. The nightmare was probably the acting and editing of this film. I been a sucker for summer camp movies with a teen slasher vibe to it so this felt right up my alley. The synopsis of the film definitely got me curious to see how teens are ruling over their camp counselors & what the outcome was going to be. I thought this was going to be a fun and cheesy film but it definitely went left field in my expectations. Think a mature version of Sleepaway Camp with a mix of Lord of the Flies. There were death scenes but no blood and gore and it just happened so fast & were brushed off. And there was a scene of SA so just a fair warning. Just comes to show that one person can easily be influenced and if you have that power everyone will fall in line. It was a fun watch but I don’t see myself revisiting this film anytime soon if that. There was even a scene where the editing was off and felt like it skipped a whole different frame. The acting was okay, some likable characters, great concept but poorly executed but the film was pretty fast paced so there’s that.

👹 The Omen (1976) 👹 “Look at me Damien, it’s all for you” Have you seen this movie before or are you just seeing this after watching The First Omen? I’m going to be honest and admit that I’m watching this after watching The First Omen, and honestly wish this movie was more talked about because it was really good! From the gruesome deaths, to the amazing score, the unsettling atmosphere, the foreshadowing deaths portrayed in photographs & the acting is outstanding (and I harsh critical on child actors). This movie has it all. That ending scene was sooooo creepy! And I loved it! I can’t wait to watch the rest of the franchise.

Finally got to watch Thanksgiving… and well, it was not for me. Considering my level of enjoyment, I decided to do a quick review for this one. What did you think about this film? And yes, it’s still f*ck Spyglass! Quick Review: Unfortunately, I did not enjoy ‘Thanksgiving’. I found it incredibly boring, and it felt longer than its runtime. While it does have some creative kills, it was not enough to make up for the lazy writing and direction. 🔪 🏊 Friday the 13th (1980) 🏊 🔪 “Kill her mommy, kill her!” A true classic that paved the way for a lot of summer camp movies 🎥 I enjoyed this movie a lot for what it was. I liked the story, the lore and the kills were freaking fantastic! I do wish that we would’ve gotten more scenes from “the killer” before it’s revealed so the impact could’ve hit harder and that some of the off-camera kills were shown but other than that I’m good with the movie. I’m a huge sucker for the camera work from the POV of the killer 🔪 🩸 That ending boat scene was just wow! I liked that in this era we don’t truly get a happy ending but an opened ended “what’s gonna happen next” that a lot of horror movies received at this time. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the franchise holds (first time rewatching the series since I don’t recall the franchise)

REVIEW: The First Omen (2024) 📿⛪️😈 Our father who art in heaven…stay the hell over there!!!!! Please and thank you. The First Omen doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel in the subgenre, but rather uses the predictiveness of its story as a bridge to herald in some much needed freshness that ultimately makes it a standout in the religious horror sub-genre. The film pays tribute to The Omen (1976), most noticeably through two of its kills, but subverts their familiar set-up by infusing tension and sinister sensitivities. The film takes us beyond the walls of the church by showing us the unrest that is occuring in the city, which serves as both a distraction and “omen” for the church to carry out their insidious plan. In my opinion, the motive makes this depiction of religion and church one of the most evil and manipulative in the sub-genre. The film’s unsettling sound design and visuals serve as a means to remove any sense of comfort, which only heightens the atmosphere of the film. Nell Tiger Free’s performance as Sister Margaret is captivating, immediately drawing in the viewer from the moment she steps onto the screen. Nell offers a tremendous amount of nuance to the “ingénue nun” character we’ve seen many a time, shining especially in the moments her performance requires pure physical expression. The film does fumble a bit at the end with its set up for further expansion, and could create future plot holes in what already has been established. By making the film a prequel it does feel like it will be limited as to where it will be able to go, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing more. 👨🏻‍💻 Rating: 4 out of 5

OTD in 1979, Werner Herzog’s ‘Nosferatu the Vampyre’ began its theatrical release in Germany! Tagline: NOSFERATU... HE WHO IS DOOMED TO WANDER ALONE IN DARKNESS. 🦇 Story: Jonathan Harker, a real estate agent, goes to Transylvania to visit the mysterious Count Dracula and formalize the purchase of a property in Wismar. Once Jonathan is caught under his evil spell, Dracula travels to Wismar where he meets the beautiful Lucy, Jonathan’s wife, while a plague spreads through the town, now ruled by death. Mini Review: ‘Nosferafu the Vampyre’ is a mesmerizing and eerily atmospheric adaptation of the classic Dracula legend. It features poetically haunting performances from Isabelle Adjani and Klaus Kinski as the infamous Count. Visually striking and hypnotic, this is one of my favorite vampire films and remakes ever made. P.S. My only con is the opening credits score, but hey, the kittens more than make up for it.
