Thinking that his dark stage piece will fit in nicely with the stories of the hotel they cast and crew manage to build up to opening night but like their predecessors before them the evil that resides has other plans. An interesting set up for this third I the series but I enjoyed it as much as the previous two chapters. It's scary, worth, and the story and lore build nicely. The ending is a little hokey but really doesn't take away from what came before it. Infested (2023) Ahh Spiders love them or hate them they can be creepy some can be beautiful but damn this film is like a new arachnophobia-driven movie that will make your skin crawl more than you could imagine from French Director Sébastien vaniček (who is soon to helm an Evil dead movie) the film is so much more than a spider horror it has a tangled web of themes. When Kaleb is about to turn 30 he has never been lonelier. He's fighting with his sister over their inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend but he is Passionate about exotic animals he comes home with an unusual breed of spider which we see isn't so friendly at the beginning of the film he happens to think keeping it in a shoebox for a short time would be okay he was wrong when it slips away. Soon his underprivileged suburb is thrown into chaos as the deadly arachnids multiply. And authorities have ordered the building to be placed under quarantine, and the project's inhabitants are forced to live in lockdown alongside terrifying spiders that are becoming bigger and bigger. This film shows how bad low-income housing is in France living in a rundown building with timed lights that run on a wind-up timer this plays into the plot later in the film that made me panic so much it's all very dimly lit and as you know spiders like to move when it's dark you will be jumping like crazy as the film is very fast-paced and it throws you in this world. The character building is okay Sometimes it feels like when it starts to develop it slows and doesn't let it fully develop it's very surface-level stuff here for a few of the characters it changes tone quite quickly but that does kind of help with the scares. The spiders are done so well, it feels almost to real like this could happen it's also shot brilliantly dark and terrifying and makes you want light desperately it's worth the time to watch this. Lembro de ter achado o título logo e fui ver o trailer e cara... O diretor me vendeu o filme só no trailer. O hype que eu tava pra esse filme era gigante e acho que valeu muito a pena! Pense num filme interessante, engraçado, assustador e inteligente! Bem, caso você não saiba nada do filme, vou dar uma breve sinopse: "Para tentar salvar o Talk Show 'The Night Owls', Jack Delroy (o apresentar do programa), faz um especial de Halloween com convidados excêntricos que dizem possuir relação com o sobrenatural e magia. Um desses convidados é uma garota que diz abrigar um espírito maligno dentro de si, Abraxas." Acho que essa minha sinopse ficou bem paia na verdade, kkkkkkk, mas basicamente o filme é isso e é incrível! Toda a ideia de simular um Talk Show de 1977 é extremamente bem feita, parece que é um programa que realmente existiu! A ambientação é absurda! Além do programa em si, acompanhamos os bastidores dele, e essa troca de... (Contextos? Acho que pode ser.) Contextos é muito bem empregada pelo diretor, que sagazmente brinca com as proporções e cores da tela. Todos os atores mandam bem aqui, assim como os personagens, que sim, alguns são cafonas/bregas/desleixados, mas um dos pontos do filme é esse, zoar a presepada e charme dos anos 70, então algumas coisas são exageradas de uma maneira muito legal. Cara, e tem cada cena boa, tensa... Nossa. Enfim, não quero falar muito mais sobre porque considero spoiler. Se você quer assistir um excelente filme de terror que brinca com as ferramentas e estilos do gênero e da fotografia, assista Late Night with the Devil. CorpseFeed rating … 7/10 INFESTED A fun and well executed creature feature. Director Sébastian Vanicek makes his feature film directorial debut and he does not disappoint. The movie looks good. The shots are well composed and framed out nicely. The director makes some interesting artistic choices behind the camera that help elevate the horror action. My one major gripe was the poor lighting during some of the horror scenes. It made it difficult to decipher the action at times. Overall though, the movie was a success. It’s pieces together well and the sound editing really helps accentuate the horror and suspense on screen. The script was written by Florent Bernard. This is his first feature film and he does a commendable job with the story. The story is paced well. There’s very little expositional lull impeding the progress of the story. The first two acts flow well and really help keep the audience engaged. The third act is a mixed bag unfortunately. There are good things and bad things accomplished in this act. I, for one, was not a fan of the ending of this film and really brought up some unnecessary questions. The cast did a good job with their individual roles. It was definitely a team effort to pull this one off. Everyone played their part well and helped the protagonist, Kaleb, played by Théo Christine, shine. There is a huge unearned emotional moment in the second act that did not hit well. It was over the top and off putting. There was plenty of horror to go around. The spiders in this flick were all CG, but they looked really good. They were effective, and down right gnarly! These creepy crawlies kept me engaged, and had me looking around at my own walls throughout the viewing of the film. The spiders offered up plenty of brutal and fun kills. The filmmakers definitely knew where to spend the time and budget, and it shows. I really had fun with this movie. The ending wasn’t my favorite, and lacked intestinal fortitude, but the spiders were so effective, it’s all I could think about at the end. So this film is nothing short of batshit crazy....and I'm all for it. Of course this is a rip-off of FNAF, but let's be honest this is the version we should have had. Not the PG-13 film Blumhouse gave us. Some fantastic deaths and SFX throughout. Cage does so much without even uttering a word. Proper entertaining way to spend an evening. Late night with the devil was definitely a success. The actors were great, believable characters, it really was like watching a late night talk show. The switch between colour and black and white really added to the overall experience. It really gave off that nostalgic feel of movies back in the 70's, bringing the exorcist back to life. From its TCM style voiceover and yellow opening text, I knew I was in for something very nostalgia heavy, while the filmmaker drew from multiple influences, it’s "Halloween" that largely shapes this film. On October 1979. Ricky Dean Logan and Vicki Newton lean on each other for support as they attend the execution of Jakkariah Harding, the serial killer who’d claimed the lives of their children. After Harding’s gruesome death by electric chair, Ricky and Vicki attempt to move on with their lives. They don’t get very far; Harding has escaped death and targets a college football gathering as his latest slay ground. Ricky and Vicki may be the only ones who can stop him. Overall, this was a rather fun and enjoyable slasher throwback, all the characters were likeable, the kills decent and despite it's obvious low budget it was made with passion and I can't help but admire that. Thumbs up 👍. Any of us who flinch at the sight of a spider can confirm that many legged arachnids are an easy source of terror. In Sébastien Vanicek’s nightmarish feature debut “Infested,” there are more spiders than you can count and spiders of unusual size that weave together a frightfully stellar monster movie that will make many viewers jump, squirm, and maybe even scream. A young man named Kaleb collects a small menagerie of creatures and bugs in his room, much to the annoyance of his sister, Manon. While she’s busy refurbishing their old apartment to sell after the death of their mother. His passion for housing rare species by his bedside brings chaos into the apartment complex when a poisonous spider escapes and begins to lay its eggs throughout the building, leaving Kaleb, Manon, and their friends Mathys, Jordy and Lila to fight for their lives. Channelling the camaraderie of “Attack the Block" and the confined flat terror of David Cronenberg’s “Shivers," this is one of the most intense films of the eco terror genre. Cast were great (big-up the Welshman and his comments about JPR Williams!) and the monsters were fantastic. Good creature feature thats worth checking out; not many being released nowadays. Infested (2023). Arachnophobes, beware. A tagline i should have listened to before making the decision to watch this. I have a serious phobia of spiders and I’m so glad I listened to my gut on this one, waiting to watch it in the morning rather than in the dark, late Friday night!!! Infested is nightmare fuel, and it has been sooo long since I’ve felt fear like this. Being a French film, and seeing the poster alone I knew this was going to be a serious, horror movie!! The location: an older rundown apartment building where cleanliness, electricity and friendly neighbours are hard to find. In other words, a perfect environment for spiders to lay eggs and reproduce. Although the characters weren’t the best examples of humans, the acting was really good and believable. I was on edge the entire time, my heart rate soared to dangerous levels and I yelled, screamed, and threw my hands over my eyes. The direction is brilliant, starts off slow at first (we see a cobweb here and there) and some residents die off but then it takes off. I read the director used real spiders (for the most part, the huge ones towards the end were cgi) and for my part, this is the top horror movie of 2024. Infested is tied with Arachnophobia (1990) as being the scariest spider movie I’ve seen to date, and the remake of Arachnophobia is due out later this year. Check this movie out! It’s on shudder but honestly, they would have made a killing releasing this in theatres!! "Satan's Slaves" (2017) and "Satan's Slaves 2: Communion" (2022) are two Indonesian horror films made by director Joko Anwar. The first is loosely based on the 1980 Indonesian horror movie "Satan's Slave". You can watch them on Shudder and I highly recommend you do so. I have watched each of these movies 4-5 times already (they are often on one of Shudder's streaming channels).
