So I had the amazing opportunity to participate in the first edition of "New Gold" Sa Llana Art Residency incubated by Waste Art Lab @wasteartlab in Ibiza this spring. 🐑❤🌴🌞 This is the first part of my experienes. More are coming soon! :) I have been on a small inner journey led by wool and the performative act of Sohar @soharvest , I learned a lot about traditional wool producing from the members of the Association of Organic Agriculture Producers of Ibiza and Formentera @apaeef ; traditional wool processing from the amazing Antonia, and Eugenia @mutextileart founder of Llanatura @llanatura ; I have studied raw felting with the energetic help of Ana Rita de Albuquerque @anarita_albuquerque , and got to know the relationship of wool and electronics introduced by Elisabeth Lorenzi @elisabeth.lorenzi ; immersed myself in dyeing with natural colours through the mentorship of Krysia Howard @krysia_howard using beautiful ethically and sustainably produced wool from @bekooperatiba ; learned about wool and biomaterials from Dihue Miguens @dihuemiguens , dipped a toe in design thinking with Mireia Bertran @mireia.bertran . One report of a dog attack in one part of the country is enough for societies to condemn the existence of all dogs. Such a response is not just dangerous to dogs but also dangerous to us! As a country, we have lived with dogs for thousands of years! They hold a special place in our culture and our religion. Several scientific studies have also shown the benefits of having a dog around. So why are they getting so much hate? Why are they being targeted by mass media? Why are they being forced to pay the price for just living? And the bigger question is - are dogs just a distraction from not solving the actual problems we are facing? Deaths caused due to road accidents is 8 times that caused by dogs. Yet we see little improvement in public safety, infrastructure, civic sense. Deaths by suicide is also more than 8 times. We condemn the system whenever we hear about one in the news. But what are we doing to promote mental fitness? As a community, society, and state we can do so much more to help individuals. Deaths by asthma are nearly 10 times! But where are the solutions to reducing pollution levels? We cut trees to make space for more cars. We are literally building cities for cars, and not for living beings. I am not touching the snakes because they are in a similar space as dogs. It is not their fault the deaths are happening. We have to do better to coexist - and that starts with conversations. Instead of just blaming dogs for all the problems, we need to see the real problems around and within us to help have a better tomorrow.

Dr. Megan Mueller is a developmental scientist who studies the complex and dynamic relationships between people and animals. Dr. Mueller leads the Pets and Well-Being Lab at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Her research and teaching focus on understanding human-animal interaction across the lifespan using multiple methods. In 1991, the Ugandan government established Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to protect one of the last strongholds of the endangered mountain gorilla. Although a conservation success story, the establishment of the park displaced the Batwa peoples, an ancient tribe reliant on the forest and its resources. National animals day 4.10. is a perfect day to send my greetings to the cats of Athens. Cats of Athens was a cross species art project in summer 2018. I experimented if I could accomplish an art intervention for the cats that live free in the streets of Athens. The whole story and my conclusions are composed in my MA thesis in Aalto University 2019. Oh, those Athenian hills in the plain of Attica. There is a chapel in the top of Lycavittós and wonderful hoopoe birds around Filopáppou. The wayfarer sees the Acropolis at every turn, from the hillsides and the roof gardens of the city. Everywhere I met cats, young and old, with a friend or alone, healthy and weak. Before my trip, I saw cat videos where the domestic cats like to step into rings made of belts. One article said that the cats have a tendency to take control of these kinds of clearly limited territories. I experimented if this holds true with the cats of Athens. I produced three interventions, which were built of unfired clay rings. I situated them on the street, and I stayed observing what happens. Cats of Athens was a situation; a space for seeking the connection and getting closer with the cats. When I tried to look at the surrounding world through the cats view, I got closer to the cats reality. The gap between me and the cat diminished. Many ethical and linguistic complexes are intertwined in the relationship between human and non-human and it makes us feel troublesome. But it is worthwhile to let the feeling indwell, there is no need to escape to disregard. We must strive into connection with other species, and to look for more ethical ways to be with others here and now. Two years have passed from this performance. Homage to 5 867 Cattle was a performative installation, where I sculpt clay cows for ten days in September 2021. One year earlier, a container ship departed from New Zealand carrying 5 867 cows in it. Their journey were destined to China, where they were supposed to be used for the milk production. The ship sank near the Japanese coast and all the cows drowned. Homage to 5 867 Cattle was an act of remembrance. I lived in the Kosminen gallery for 10 days without leaving the space during the performance. It’s #wildlifewednesday here at BCI! 🦓 The most common and widespread of its species, the plains zebra even appears on the coat of arms of Botswana. Larger than the mountain zebra, and smaller than the Grevy’s, this ungulate is horse-like but has a mane of short, erect hair, a tail with a tuft at the tip, and bears recognizable vertical stripes. Habitat loss due to human encroachment, agricultural practices, and livestock grazing remains an issue in the ongoing conservation of this species. These problems seem to be especially prevalent in the southern half of their range and account for much of recent population decline. One solution to habitat loss is to protect wildlife corridors — large swaths of land that zebras and other animals can use to from one park, or country, to another. Personally i think There are no bad dogs Only human expectations & egos that then label dogs as Bad VS Good We love putting labels on EVERYTHING & EVERYONE. Just like how selective dogs are LABELLED NOT FRIENDLY. Most dogs are dog selective. That's normal not good or bad. Doesn't mean they are aggresive or dangerous dogs. It is our responsibility and duty to understand our dogs through their point of view . We don't need to be a certified dog behaviorist to understand that Archaic training methods & tools inflicting discomfort on dogs to FORCE them to behave certain ways IS CRUEL & Not OK.
