I know that things are challenging at the moment and there is so much uncertainty in the world. I feel that a lot of people are starting to see things that have previously been hidden from their perspective. This can be hard to comprehend but from experience, I have come to realise that things happen for us and not to us. Even the most heartbreaking situation that at the time we don't think we will ever get over or see past, change us in a way we never think possible. There is always gold in a situation, at the time we can't see this but as time goes on we will, I know I did. Even loosing my mum, this broke me, I can't honestly put into word what this did to me, she was my world, my rock. I don't think you can comprehend this loss unless you have experienced it. I was completely lost I couldn't see anyway out of it, it took time, and patience from the people around me. For anyone experiencing anything like this my advise would be to allow the emotions to flow, feel everyone of them the anger, the sadness, all of them. They all need to be felt, they are all relavant they all need to come in, they all need to be felt and allowed to flow. I didn't do this for so long, unfortunately society expects us to just stifle these feeling and emotion and carry on regardless. Although this can work in the short term, later on this can manifest into dis-ease or more trauma. I know for certain if this didn't happen I wouldn't have started this healing journey and for that I am truly grateful. This might shock people obviously i would love to have my mum here with me now but I know my life would be completely different if she had been. I trust that everything that has happened to me is to help me on this journey. This may trigger some people and that's not my intention but please just sit with what I have said and hopefully you will see why this upsets you so much. How does this make you feel? To me, an emergency fund is a savings pot that you use when everything starts breaking on you & you may not have your usual income stream. . An emergency fund is basically a budgeters version of a credit card. . I don't say that to be harsh 😅 but I do see a lot of people relying on debt for emergencies. Something really common for this is having an overdraft. . You don't need an overdraft if you have emergency savings. When I became a mom, I dreamed of being the mom that was there for it all. Cheering on the sidelines like psycho, there for all the fieldtrips, spending weekends at tournaments, etc. I didn’t quite get that growing up- because my parents are beyond hard workers and never stop doing that to this day. Being a family of 14, farm family- there was always work to do, so that’s what my parents did. I 100% understand NOW why my parents missed alot of my things growing up, but I didn’t understand back then. I’m the parent now and 8 years ago, I could see that vision of the mom I wanted to be, slipping away because I was working all the time. I knew I needed to bring in an income, but at the expense of my kids and the short years I have with them to make memories. If I ever found myself in her courtroom, I'm sure she'd have plenty for me, too! I can be a bit of a smart ass. 😆 I've been thinking a lot about my grandma and grandpa Stoor lately. They're both gone now. I miss summers and vacations on Bainbridge Is. Those were simple times, and I've been longing for simple times--for that extended stay on Point White Dr. sitting on the bulkhead, smelling the fresh salt air, walking on the beach, visiting with grandma, taking a drive with grandpa, riding the ferry, playing cards, etc. Life was good. Life was easy. Decisions were simple. My new chemo regime started in January. Thankfully, the side effects have been less intense when compared to previous treatments like TCHP or the dreaded red devil, but the fatigue is overwhelming. My days blur into a routine of work, early bedtimes, and trying to muster energy for the next day and the weekend. While I'm resting or laying in bed, life continues around me. I try to keep up my "Beth" routine--trying to do it all. I do my best to keep going, to be normal, but normal seems so far out of reach. And, that's hard for me. It was easier with TCHP and the Red Devil because I knew both were temporary. There is nothing temporary with my treatment now. Treatment doesn't have a timeline. It's one to the next until it doesn't work or my body doesn't tolerate it. So, today I officially decided to stop my chemo treatments, not because I'm giving up, but because I want to reclaim my days and live life on my terms, cherishing the good moments and taking back my afternoons and weekends. I do plan to try another drug that I hope meets my new demands of living life on my terms. If it works, wonderful! That is the initial goal. But even more so now, my goal is to be present in my life and responsibilities. I want to do life. Not watch it pass me by. This is a big one! Time is the one & only thing in life you can’t buy or get back. When I started working in the online space 6 years ago, it was never about the money. Yes, I needed it, we all do to survive, but I felt that I needed to be there for my daughter more. Where she didn’t have a father in her life, I was damn determined she was going to have her mother in her life… for everything! It was about being there for my daughter while she was still so little. Being a solo parent, I wanted to be there for the School drop-offs & the school pick ups. I wanted to be there for the School assemblies & the sports days, & everything in between. I was determined to find a way to create an income from home instead of the latter… going to a job that would require me to ask for time off if she was sick, as well as holidays, & with the standard 4 weeks in Australia, that would’ve meant 8 weeks a year of me being absent & having to leave her in the care of someone else when she daughter was on school holidays. I look back today & I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m so grateful for that time that I didn’t have to give up so that I could be present for her. Time flexibility…that’s the goal👌 The goal is not to make more money. It’s to live life on your terms ✨ Having a rich life has absolutely nothing to do with money! Comment below if you agree 👇 . . .
