I had a slight issue recently with a brand new pair of Modibodi's and emailed Support, with my only intention being to make the company aware as I've been using them for a long time and knew this wasn't typical of their brand. Less than 24 hours later, I received a response apologising profusely for this happening and requesting some info so they could narrow down the batch. I sent that info off and didn't expect to hear much more about it. I tried out my new @modibodi high-waisted recycled briefs yesterday! I’ve been using Modibodi’s swimwear since 2019, and my bikini bottoms were finally too worn to wear just this month. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the high-waisted cut but am happy to report that they are comfy for swimming and snorkelling! They don’t ride up or do anything they shouldn’t. And I didn’t even give my period a thought all afternoon at the beach, as they are protective without feeling like I’m wearing a menstrual product! As with all of Modibodi’s swimwear, they’re rated for light-moderate flows, not heavy period days. I’ve always gone swimming with them on day 3 and later of my cycle and have never had an issue. It might be unAustralian of me, but I’m not a huge beach or pool gal. This is for a lot of reasons: the feel of dry sand is repulsive to me, I’m not a strong swimmer, my skin gets burnt just thinking about going outside and it’s very rare that I find swimwear I am comfortable in. BUT! I have finally found the perfect swimwear and best bikini I’ve ever owned. I was already obsessed with @modibodi underwear and they have made me love this bikini just as much. I used to find it so awkward to talk about periods and it is only the past year that I have felt comfortable really doing so on an open platform. I don't know why, and I think it is important to normalise this. Especially now that I have two daughters, I don't ever want to set the tone that you can't talk about periods. Especially when it comes to sharing advice or offering it. I got my cycle back after having Rosie when she was 13 months old. This was the longest it took to return, and I am still breastfeeding (that myth has proved incorrect three from three now!) I had used @modibodi underwear during pregnancy and postpartum, even for things like exercising at the gym. I hadn't used it monthly though until now and I wasn't sure how it would work for me. These new period exercise leggings from @modibodi definitely undertook one hell of a testing last night. Brutal 60 minute legs, bums and tums class later and they not only made me feel confident about being ‘on’ and exercising but they also acted just as well as any of my favourite activewear leggings do. And that’s saying something. I had to size up in these, but with an adjustable drawstring around the inner waist, they fit really well and feel super comfortable when exercising. They allow for a moderate-heavy flow which is perfect considering you’re probably going to wear these for an hour or two at a time! I love my running shorts from Modibodi and so I’m so glad I now have a warmer version for the colder months. Beautiful at any and every angle. Our bodies move and crease and fluctuate but they are always beautiful, through it all. AD 🌿 | It feels super good to be back in reusables after a month-long hiatus during our travels (after much deliberation, I realised that moving around every 3 days just made cloth not possible..). When I was 21, I lost my period for a year due to excessive exercise & not eating enough to match that activity level. ad. These are 2 different mornings, a few days apart. Now, at 24, if I feel annoyed at anything that comes with my time of the month — the pains, emotional rollercoasters, the bloat or water retention, the clothing that doesn’t feel as comfy, the lack of energy & ditching a workout or 5 for the week— I’m just grateful af my body is functioning & that I didn’t sacrifice my future reproductive system & internal health to be 5% leaner any longer than I already had. IT’S TIME TO TALK ABOUT PERIODS 🩸 . I’ve been using washable period pads and pants for a few years now but I’d never had to face the issue of swimwear… until now.
