Technically it was a good step, a spectacular achievement actually. But my feeling of being an imposter increased and stayed with me even at home. I felt lost and cold and got into bed in search of comfort, only to fall into a waking nightmare where none of my surroundings belonged to me. Being able to dream without being able to sleep is one uncomfortable phenomenon in my life since coming off the Venlafaxine. Today I'm having a bad trip where I'm in someone else's nightmare, with no identity but all of the weird and directionless suffering. At first it was just all-consuming contempt, and I thought my attitude couldn't possibly get any worse than that; for weeks upon weeks all facts and memories have had a bad meaning, every object and event I observed has been distressing, and let's not even get started on the future (is how I feel about it). This new twist is even uglier as my mind is dissociating itself from all the particulars of my life. Thankfully I'm still safely grounded in my body, though hate to see my face in the mirror. To redirect my attitude I've put myself in a novel(ish) context to sit and read a novel. It's like distracting a baby from its complaining by surprising it with something new. Writing this publicly helps remind me that I'm not just in a private dream.
