My first ELITE Winter @turfgames ❄️ A short story… 1. Started the day strong being utterly annihilated by a 50kg sandbag. I absolutely would not have survived the event if it weren’t for the UNBELIEVABLE support of my team… and the guilt of making @iam_danwilliams stand with a 70kg sandbag on his shoulder 🫠 2. After absolutely destroying my legs and back @evasullivan was roped in for a post event massage 3. Managed to put some weight on a bar and get it in the air 4. Things were looking up, the osteo clicked my back, I was a new woman so time for a photoshoot with my biggest supporters ❤️ @charcunningham @evasullivan 5. Event 3, looking very happy holding my two kettle bells, whilst @eveolve.pt did all the work 👌 6. I did also throw a ball around a few times, did quite a good job of that actually 7. Absolutely over the moon thinking I wasn’t going to feel the weight of the worm sandwiched between @faisalpmafitness and @benchips 8. I was wrong. Absolutely excelled at the burpees though, finally found my niche! 9. Returned to my rightful place in the bin 🫠 Truly this was the HARDEST @turfgames I have ever done. Elite is absolutely no joke, the standard of these athletes is just next level and my god did I feel out of my depth. But I couldn’t have been with a better bunch of people to experience it with ❤️ that helped me to dig deep, give everything I had and enjoy every (ish) minute. I felt a bit overwhelmed looking around seeing everyone else on specific TT bikes, tri spoke and disc wheels and aero helmets. I’ve been watching many of the videos on the PROJECTIONS NYC YouTube channel which features some of the world’s greatest photojournalists talking about their experiences reporting on the war in Ukraine. This includes presentations by Pulitzer Prize winners - including @carolguzy who’s won four & @evgenymaloletka won one this year. The Telegraph's photographer @heathcliffom has also presented on the channel. I was so impressed with all the great photojournalists’ work that I dropped @frankmeo8945, who runs the channel, a message to say thank you for putting it on. To my huge surprise he replied and invited me on to present! New project start: A Dragon scale knight half cloak. It’s ambitious to say the least, but I’m motivated to see it through! Not that I have any idea what I’m really doing, a sheet of scale is different from a single line necklace or even a dice bag that I’ve done before. After about an hour of tinkering I got something together (picture 1 and 2) but it felt like it lacked a bit of stability and it was already making it difficult to work with. So I added a “stabilising ring” across some of gaps (picture 3 and 4) and it feels much better. The first picture of the front of the scales is pre stabilising ring, and the second is post adding the ring, looks better and more consistent. Will see how it goes as this was just a small batch to test things with. Also added the inspiration and yes, that whole cloak is going to be Scales. Need to find a means of rebalancing the weight, as even with Aluminium it will weigh a bit once completed. Swapping horses for dogs! My first ever dog show. Fair to say I felt very out of my depth in the first class 🤣 Things improved as the day went on and we managed a couple of places. About to throw the towel in as wasn’t sure we were cut out for showing and Molly asked if we could do “dog the judge most wanted to take home”. Somehow we won.
