Kürzlich habe ich ihn mit Gummiband wieder etwas in Form getrimmt. Der Nachteil von 100% Biobaumwolljersey ist eben, dass er ausleiert. Dafür habe ich ein reines Gewissen😊. Das T-Shirt war immer um ein Weniges zu lang. Kürzlich habe ich es gekürzt und jetzt mag ich es richtig gern. Die #partnerreadytosew Latzhose war leider nicht mein Ding. Es ist ein toller Schnitt, aber nicht für mich. Der Latz ist ab und die Hose, nur mit einer Kordel zusammengehalten, trägt sich wunderbar. Habt einen schönen Feiertag😎!

Wearing my @ready_to_sew Partner Overalls for some gardening! I really enjoyed doing all the top stitch on these overalls and taking my time with it. I also used two cute different lining fabrics that are hidden inside. It was my first fitting dungaree hardware which was a little trickier than I thought it would be… I want these to get a mucky and be practical, they kept me nice and cosy on this chilly April day! Partner Overalls 💕 They’ve been on my make list since summer ‘21, and I’ve had the fabric since summer ‘22, so I’m so pleased to have finally made these @ready_to_sew Partner Overalls. I just needed a bit of sewjo to do it! I loved making these so much. Just like the Eden coat, I’m loving the finer details and the construction of a garm more these days than just making something to finish. So much joy! I made a size 42, with no adjustments except for taking 4cm off the hem to make them full length on me when unrolled. I also tried the straps with elastic, but didn’t like them so just made normal straps instead. There is stretch in the fabric so they’re comfortable to bend down and sit in without the elastic. The denim is thick with a bit of stretch from @rainbowfabrickilburn - same as my Bobbi skirt and offers all the comfort you need for some utilitarian dungarees - although I think they’re quite attractive too. The pockets are awesome! I was gifted some gorgeous cotton from @thecraftylass a very long time ago and put the fat quarters to use lining the bibs and pockets for some floral joy - swipe to see. I thought the patterns went so well with the style of dungas and it’s so much more fun than plain cotton. Did I mention the pockets? There is even an extension to get MORE pockets in. I also love that the pattern has half sizes and is pretty inclusive. Dungarees for all! 💙 For more inspo, check out @kylieandthemachine’s tan ones, and I’m also utterly love-struck with the hickory stripe ones on the pattern website. I think I’d use the elastic on the straps if I made some non-stretch ones though! The only other thing I have to add - phew - is that I might add rivets. Did you see my amazing new overalls yet? I used #topdowncenterout to get the right fit, and it worked brilliantly! Before I tell you about it, I'd like to thank Raphaëlle from @ready_to_sew for her patience and kind response to my questions about fit and garment ease. Much appreciated! Based on my hip measurement, the size chart put me in size 34. Unfortunately, I could not get them on over my hips comfortably. The thing with this pattern is that the waist circumference of the finished garment is slightly smaller than that of your actual hips with the idea of the fabric relaxing enough to get them on without problems. I decided to give #tdco a try. Using the drawstring tunnel part as my waistband and a 1 legged toile, I found I needed to significantly shorten the front rise in order to be able to crouch but take nothing off the back rise. I guess I must have a tilted waist? I would have never thought of this adjustment if it wasn't for tdco! These are my final mods: 🧵 Sized up to size 36 but then shaved the outside leg seams off to those of size 34, from 10cm below the waist, down to the hems 🧵 Shortened the front rise by 7cm (!!), tapering to 4cm at the side seams and 0cm at the back 🧵 Added 1" to the bib length by not lining up the bottom bib edge with the pants top edge, but sewing them together with 1" difference 🧵 Shortened the legs by 2" The front pockets ended up being a bit too low, which is probably because I didn't adjust them properly when I changed the rise, whereas the back pocket ended up too high 🙃 so I have some work for my next version 😀 #partnerreadytosew #partneroveralls

It’s giving I split all that wood myself (jk, only helped stack it) I made the #partnerreadytosew overalls after being v influenced by anyone who has made them. It was my first time using an @ready_to_sew pattern and I love all the details and clean construction of these! Earlier sewist me didn’t know I would enjoy all that topstitching. I used a 10 oz splatter denim and a @kylieandthemachine dungarees hardware kit from @stylemakerfabrics 🤌 My only issue was my straps are a little too wide for the sliders. ✨🪡🧶🧵 Some of my favourite makes of the last year, versus (second slide) my Top 9! 🧵🧶🪡✨ Some overlap, but many of the projects I’m proudest of didn’t make it into the Top 9, which was weirdly dominated by a skirt that, while a fun make and a fabulous garment for twirling in on the internet, has turned out rather impractical IRL and not gotten very much actual wear in my actual life. My 1940s floral dress also hasn’t gotten much (any?) wear outside Instagram - the silhouette is a bit awkward on me and it feels a little overly dramatic and dapper for wearing to my very casual workplace - but I’d kind of anticipated that going into the project; as I said then, while I generally aim for my projects to be wearable additions to my wardrobe, it is nice every once in a while to make something purely for the joy and experience of learning and challenging myself. On the whole, I am really pleased with where my sewing has taken me this year. I feel like I’ve really “levelled up,” skill-wise, by branching into some tailoring and heavy-duty pants sewing (both of which I enjoyed immensely), and by playing with embellishments to general success on several projects. I am still a beginner in many ways - and I certainly had my share of projects that were entire failures - but I kind of feel like I am capable of just about any kind of project, with enough care and patience. I think I’m also settling into a balance of vintage and modern styles that is both aesthetically pleasing to me and practical. In 2023, I’m hoping to make a few more dresses, as I’ve made disappointingly few of those and a good comfy dress is so much easier to throw on in the morning than having to think about skirt and top pairings. I also want to try a few more pants/trouser patterns; my Partner Overalls made me realize that pants are not in fact the devil. Revisiting this video from before the summer when I finally finished my @ready_to_sew Partner overalls. I made a rookie mistake when cutting and didn’t mirror my leg pieces, so I had to wait for @blackbirdfabrics to restock their denim before I could finish. I used some leftover canvas for contrast pockets. I loved making these, and am really happy with how they turned out. (Shhhh I still haven’t hemmed them). I made a straight size 38 (my measurements somewhere around 33-27-39). Huge news: it is FINALLY cool enough to wear my #PartnerOveralls! I was very inspired by the amazing pair @kaya_sews made, so it was fate when these fabrics tripped and fell into my cart. So clumsy! I love these overalls SO MUCH and am getting a lot of joy out of wearing them - they were a lot of work, mostly topstitching. I did two lines everywhere and do not remember if it was the pattern or my lizard brain that said to do so? 👩🏻🌾 I have a full sew-through of these saved in my highlights if you want to see how the steps are done, and/or re-live my shocking announcement that we all have two butts 👩🏻🌾 🍬 Pattern: Partner Overalls + expansion from @ready_to_sew - their size range in imperial is STILL MAKING ME LAUGH, they are absolutely mocking people for using the inferior system. I rounded the waist/hip for this post, but this is the honest to god bust measurement. Bust: 81-139 cm; 31 & 54/67” - 54 & 23/32” (I love it so much 😂) Waist: 61.5-124 cm; 24 - 48.75” Hip: 89-151 cm, 35 - 59.5” 🍬 Fabric: 8.5 oz washed cotton canvas from @blackbirdfabrics 🍬 Size: 47 per my seated hip measurement, with 1/2” extra added in the tummy region bc it was squeezing me. Measurements are in the hashtags below! Or message me! 🍬 Mods: The tummy space mentioned above, narrowing the straps so they would fit the overall buckles (I never went back to see if I had made a mistake or if they are just wide straps). The rest was decorative! Added more colour-blocking, the tiny (useless) bib pocket, lots of understitching. 🍬 Time spent: this was an 18.5 hr sew for me! 🍬 For next time: muuuuch bigger pockets. I like to pretend my hands and arms are getting sucked into another dimension and may never be seen again each time I reach for my keys, and these pockets only have space for my fingers. Also - the lining fabric IS visible, so that’s something to be aware of if you want your lining to be a secret! New wearable toile! I've been eyeing off the @ready_to_sew Partner overalls for a while now and bit the bullet with this wearable toile. The fabric is a stretch cotton woven destashed long ago by @bigfatemsews which makes for comfy lightweight summer overalls. I might over dye as white isn't usually my first choice for clothing! Unfortunately this busy print doesn't do justice to the gorgeous detailing of this pattern- leg patch pockets and lots of topstitching get hidden. Happy to report the second highly successful sewing project in a row! I had a lovely weekend of hanging out at my old university campus, visiting with John’s family on the mainland, frogwatching at the marsh, and wearing the heck out of my new @papercutpatterns #stackerjacket , which I finished on Thursday evening and am absolutely in love with. I have literally no complaints, which is really something! I love the shape, I love the ever-so-slightly cropped sleeves, i love the notched collar, I love the roomy dropped shoulders. The original pattern comes with either flapped in-seam pockets at the yoke or patch pockets at the front; I decided to do decorative flaps and make my own side welt pockets for ease of hand storage. There was definitely some cursing involved in that process but they turned out lovely, and I am thrilled to have that skill under my belt now. I’ll have to provide a detail shot of the pockets later. I paired it yesterday with my @ready_to_sew #partneroveralls , but I think this will also play nicely with all my vintage/historical skirts and dresses, which is always a struggle for me. 🪡 DUNGAREES 🪡 The love for dungarees on sewing Instagram is unreal. There's definitely a certain inevitability to my next project since I already love them. But how do I decide which to sew first? I have a lovely quite fitted black denim RTW and a loose fitting light blue denim shorts version so I want to sew something a little different. I found a large piece navy of what I think is cotton in the charity shop that I think could work well. #memademittwoch im August Ich hatte schon im letzten Post verraten, was bei mir unter der Nähmaschine lag. Jetzt ist der #partneroveralls @ready_to_sew fertig. Und ich konnte ihn vergangene Woche im Urlaub auch schon probetragen. In Hamburg ist es nicht so heiß wie hier im Rhein-Main-Gebiet 🏜. Dies ist meine erste Latzhose seit Kindertagen. Vor ungefähr drei Jahren habe ich mir mal ein Latzkleid genäht, das ich aber letztes Jahr wegen schlechter Stoffqualität ausmustern musste. So konnte ich jetzt die Garnitur, also die Metallteile vorn am Latz, wiederverwerten. Der Stoff ist auch recycelt, allerdings ab Werk. Es ist ein Chambray aus recycelten Jeansabfällen von duurzamestoffen.nl . Das ist der Onlineshop von @enschedetextielstad . Sie produzieren dort sehr nachhaltig und der Weg nach D ist kurz. Genäht habe ich Größe 36 ohne Änderungen. Da die Taille durch das Band im Tunnelzug gebildet wird, ist auch nicht viel Anpassarbeit nötig. Zwecks Größenermittlung habe ich das Schnittmuster genau ausgemessen und mit meinen Maßen verglichen. Der Schnitt hat für größere Größen eine Latzvariante mit Abnähern. Am Rücken sind in die Träger zwei 8cm lange Gummis eingenäht. Die kann man zwar auch weglassen, aber der Komfort beim Hinsetzen wird dadurch deutlich gesteigert. It's their 'Chambray af gerecyclerede jeans'. For size 36 I only needed two meters instead of the three meters indicated in the instructions. 👩🏼🌾 Partner Overalls 👩🏼🌾 I really like these. They’ll be perfect! Pattern by @ready_to_sew Fabrics: 10 oz denim outer and some linen napkins for the pockets and knee pads. And a yarn dyed woven for the bib facing. Size: 46 (glad I made this size even though I measured for the 44) Mods: 🥑I added knee pads that are hidden. They’re quilted and cute and you can see them in the previous post 🥑shortened the patch pockets by 2” 🥑I added that little tool pocket stitching to the larger right patch pocket 🥑 I added the pocket stitching on the bib 🥑 I plan on Velcro closures for the straps 🥑I made the strap taper to 1” wide for the front 🥑I trimmed off 3/4” off each side of the bib at the top and blended it with the armhole. It’s very wide and I don’t want to straps against my arms 🥑 I used twill tape for draw cord 😅I think that’s all of them. 🥑I remembered one more; Not so much a mod but a correction: the hem is crooked on the pant pattern and I fixed it. All hems should be perpendicular to the grainline unless it’s intended to be at an angle. So excited to add this to my outdoor capsule wardrobe! And what do you think about the straps? 👩🏼🌾 Making is Magic 🔮 My fourth piece for my Outdoor Capsule Wardrobe is the Partner Overalls by @ready_to_sew I’m using a denim that was gifted to me and I’m guessing it’s about 10 oz. It’s identical to the denim I used for my Dawn Jeans. I’m using yarn dyed fabric to line the bib and linen napkins for the pocket linings 🫣 Stash Busting! 🙌🏼 There’s a nice elastic feature for the strap and I think the draw cord waist will be a nice comfort addition to a one-piece garment to prevent the crotch rubbing the inner leg. I’ll be using hook and loop for the straps and three bar sliders. I can always add hardware later if I want. Sewing begins tomorrow! Surprise! Here’s the actual first set of overalls I made! I had a chance to snap some pics with the fam. It was so funny. We drove past this old pawn shop and saw this purple garage so we stepped out and took a few pics. You never know when you’re going to find a coloured wall that fits just right! These were a labour of love. My first pair, so I was learning everything for the first time. Spent quite a bit of time working out the topstitching and it’s still not where I’d like it to be. When we got this cotton canvas in the second time @harmonyprovo I knew I wanted to use both. Then I asked @thrifted if she thought half/half would be too much. She quickly told me no, and insisted I do it. I hadn’t been buying fabric this year, so I say it was a good choice to break the buying ban for this one. Once again the pattern is the #partnerreadytosew overalls from @ready_to_sew . Fabric is called Poppy Fields from @riflepaperco in the cream and black colourways. I think It’s about time I posted something new on the feed. Introducing my second pair of overalls. My first ones aren’t photographed yet, so you’ll have to wait for those, but here’s my second! I felt like such a champ putting in my own hardware, but let me tell you, it wasn’t without headache. Did you know that it’s super hard to find 5mm grommets and the tools to do it? I really wanted to keep to the size and luckily the hubby suggested @pacifictrimming when I couldn’t find it anywhere else. They had all I needed, but when it came in they sent me the right tools but the wrong size grommets. I emailed them and they were so amazing. They got me new ones in the post asap. As for the buckles I used none other than @kylieandthemachine in antique brass that I picked up from @saltlakesewciety . Let’s talk fabric though. This is the Mushy design from @elliewhittakerstudio that will be released very soon in Cotton Canvas over at @elliewhittakerstore . It’s a work perk to know what’s coming and to use these glorious fabrics from Ellie. I cannot recommend this fabric enough. Not too heavy and not too lightweight. And the colours…well you see how vibrant it is! Finding vibrant canvas can be hard, so I was super happy! The pattern I used was the #partneroveralls from @ready_to_sew and to shorten them for summer I just eyeballed a spot to cut them on the legs…which I wouldn’t actually recommend. However, I do wholeheartedly recommend the pattern for how it’s intended to be worn. I’ll fill you in when I finally share the first pair I made! Anywho, super happy to be back and sharing. I lost a button in the woods but found it and hammered it back with a rock. 🤘 The fabric is contrasting gabardine by @atelierbrunette in cedar and forest. Somehow the forest green is way softer, but both colors are great. The inspiration is from a @jacquemus FW2020 menswear lookbook (see the last swipe). A collection of #ootd from the past 2 weeks My Ukrainian top given to me by the MSF staff in Mariupol when I finished my mission there. Obviously this top has gained much meaning lately and I'm wearing it a lot; my heart is wringing for Mariupol and its inhabitants. #morganjeans two days in a row. Really still not much of a boyfriend fit. They are like leg straitjackets. If I sandpaper them, will they soften? I can't get my leg over my bicycle!! Icebreaker top, thrifted, size M and about 20 cm removed off hem #lododress which is double layered. So cute...but after I made it and wore it that fall, somehow I never wore it again. I present to you: my new #rudyjudeinspired utility jeans. They are cut from a single thrifted Woolrich denim curtain panel. I used @megannielsenpatterns #dawnjeans and re-drafted the knee patch from the @ready_to_sew #partneroveralls to fit. I looked at photos of @rudyjude utility jeans and mimicked the top stitching and even found a small leather scrap to use on the back right pocket. My normal mods on the dawn jeans (size 6 straight version)are to slightly widen the calf, remove a 1/2” wedge from the height of the center back yoke and add an inch to the length. I also changed the front pockets from standard pocket bags to a front pocket stay - which make for a much smoother fit. I’m ready to play in the snow with my boy next weekend! These are the @ready_to_sew Partner overalls in a waterproof polyurethane vinyl (that may be redundant) from @marcytilton fabrics. Size 42 w 1” length added to the rise, 1 1/2” to the legs, a flat seat/thin thigh adjustment (perhaps more than needed) and an elastic band added to the ankle. Plastic closures and bungee from @wawaksewing . I found the pattern a joy to make and can see doing it again in non-waterproof fabric at some point. Speaking of waterproof—I’ve got some seam sealant on the way, just in case, but am hoping the faux flat felled seams will be good enough protection. 🤞🤞 There’s also a merino jersey shipment on the way so I can whip out some leggings and a Nikko top for a base layer before we head out. Happy New Year!🥳. Starting off 2022 wearing the very last garment made in 2021 (finished yesterday😅) #partneroveralls by @ready_to_sew with a very old black cotton Lycra turtleneck ( #v8939 ?) This my first go at the overalls pattern, I made a size 34 in range 1 and initially added 3/4”, which was not necessary and I removed it when joining the top to the pants. I had adjusted the front patch pocket/double knee piece for the increased rise, which is why they appear higher or closer to the waist than as drafted. The fabric is a cotton ticking stripe twill that I was fortunate to score an entire bolt of from @savers_thrift. Morning spent taking down all Christmas decorations and tree, looking forward to an afternoon of taping up a pdf for some exciting #patterntesting. A huge effort on sewing day with @tessa_the_sewing_lady I was so committed to seeing these overalls thru to the end and actually they are a very doable one-day binge sew project. I made size 38, cutting 1" off the waist as a spontaneous short-person fix (plus 2" hems) and the fit is loose, as overalls should be. I fully lined the bib and I'll eventually blog my Opinions as of course I have many, but in sum I think these live up to the hype. Fabric is from a Japanese store that was closing, it's cotton drill. Lining is Liberty poplin. These are the @ready_to_sew Partner overalls #partnerreadytosew made in a lovely, light weight stretch denim from @theselvedgesociety I really wasn’t sure that these would work, but they are soooo ace!! The main mod I made was shortening the bodice as I’m short, but I accidentally forgot to make the same change to the pockets which is why they sit higher than drafted. I also slightly slimmed the leg and that’s it!! They are a little time consuming to make with all the top stitching and pocket detail, but they look great and fit so well. My hot tip when making any overalls, or most pants for that matter is to make sure your fabric has some stretch for comfort and these are comfortable!!
