Hundreds of hours of reruns, attending in the audience, and figuring out the perfect game show aesthetic. Turns out, the subject of this documentary was watching a lot more Price is Right than I ever did. This charming documentary tells a really simple story and doesn't have much of a payoff, but it is interesting none the less. It was a little boring to watch, and this is coming from the number 1 game show fan of the world. I would not recommend or watch again BUT it does have a few pieces of interview with the one and only BOB BARKER!!! Props to the main character of this doc though because he really did put in an impressive amount of work to memorize all of the prices on all of the items on the Price is Right. Katelynn’s take: 🍿 I love The Price is Right (I really just love game shows tbh), but this felt sooo drawn out and honestly I just really didn't like the guy that it's all about lol. It was interesting to see how he did what he did, but it definitely felt like he thinks he’s God’s gift to game shows and television in general. I was over it about halfway through. I did love the Bob Barker appearances though- that man is a national treasure. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this one unless you're a Price is Right superfan or you're into hearing people talk about their glory days for juuust a little too long. Since I watched #PERFECTBID last night on @netflix , I want to share my story. This year my episode turned 15 years old. BOB BARKERS 80TH BIRTHDAY SPECTACULAR. I had just turned 18 3 weeks before I went to my 1st and only taping. . . It was everything I ever dreamed it would be! Low and behold wouldn't ya know... I ended up getting into Contestants ROW, being the 6th contestant to play, and then WINNING THE ENTIRE SHOW! . . I won kitchen cleaner, tennis equipment, 2 CARS, a big screen TV, a bar set, a kitchen and I hit $1.00 on the wheel for $1000! I met Bob Barker. I kissed him on the cheek! . . It's very surreal. You don't know what's happening because of the adrenaline. All I know is that the tax bill was so big that year. I went from 200$ in my account to the number at the end and then back again. Lol . . Because that happened and I had to claim myself from there on out, I qualified for EVERY grant known to man! So the price is right also helped me PAY FOR COLLEGE! NOT a single loan, just all grants!!!! . . . 15 years ago. 1 day. A gift from my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Michael. 5 amazing friends. And a group of shirts that said TRACEY LEIGH'S 18TH BIRTHDAY CREW. Week 4 #2019movieaday 1. “Ready Player One” - I really get annoyed when people say the book was better than the movie, but, here I am, saying that exact thing. 2. “Casino” - Yes, “Goodfellas” is one of my top ten favorite movies but “Casino” is also a masterpiece. Sharon Stone should have won the Oscar that year over Sarandon. That’s a thing I have an opinion about for some reason. Movies! 3. “The Master” I’d like to be an actor. “Have you seen Joaquin Phoenix in The Master?” I have. You’re right. Never mind. I’ll try something else. Sorry to bother you. 4. “Bone Tomahawk” - A great western and also contains one of the single most jarring sequences in film history. How is Matthew Fox not everywhere? 5. “The Hunt For Red October” - Remember when the Russians were bad guys and a threat to our democracy? I’m glad that’s not a thing anymore! 6. “Perfect Bid” - A delightful documentary about a man obsessed with “The Price is Right” and how he didn’t get the credit he deserved for making someone very rich. Drew Carey drops ‘f’ bombs. That’s two movies I watched involving Kevin Pollak. Pollak! 7. “Pulp Fiction” - This movie changed my life. I watched it five times in the theatre. For a sheltered teenage kid in Oklahoma that movie was unlike anything I’d ever seen. One time a man stood up and screamed to the entire theatre we were all going to hell for watching “filth”.
