Duran Duran - Duran Duran (1981). Duran Duran is the self-titled debut by the Birmingham (UK) New Romantic outfit. Initial recording sessions were troubled as lead singer Simon Le Bon struggled to perform in the studio environment. This led to concerns from the record company who considered replacing him, thankfully they didn’t. At the time of release the album was given a lukewarm reception but history has shown how influential the album was to become and recent reappraisals of the album now view it as one of the finer examples of the burgeoning New Romantic movement. There is no questioning the quality of the singles taken from the album, Planet Earth, Careless Memories and Girls On Film. This white vinyl edition with extra 12” single was released in 2020 for RSD. The album cover has silver foil highlights. #duranduran #girlsonfilm #planetearth #carelessmemories

🌟🌟🌟 How to Save A Life- The Fray ~ I was so glad to pick this up at Princeton Record Exchange when I visited in March as I have loved this album for so many years as it’s literally in every chick flick movie I love and ofc greys anatomy. This album reminds me of the old 22 season teen dramas that would air on tv like vampire diaries, pretty little liars etc that were based on small town america and the nostalgic around that era. @thefray #thefray #music #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #vinylcollector #recordaddict #recordaddiction #vinyladdict #vinyladdiction

Appetite for Destruction - Guns N Roses (1987). When Appetite for Destruction was first released it wasn’t well received by critics. However, in the years that followed it came to be recognised as one of the best rock albums ever made. The band were touring and writing just prior to going into the studio to record the album. The record company had reservations that the band didn’t have enough material to record a full album, the opposite turned out to be true as Axl Rose revealed in an interview that November Rain, Back Off Bitch, You Could Be Mine and Don’t Cry, we’re all written at the time and were considered for the album. November Rain being dropped because the album already had one ballad in Sweet Child O Mine. The album’s original cover art (shown here) was based on Robert Williams’ painting Appetite for Destruction. #gunsnroses #sweetchildomine #welcometothejungle #paradisecity

Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb Red inside translucent blue with white splatter (sea) and milky clear with black dust (sand)- ??? I’ll be occasionally reposting some albums from when I started this account as some deserve a better quality post now, this one is the first for a special reason 😎 More double LPs should be different colors! The almost flakes instead of splatter on this c/d is so freaking cool, and there should be more of those variants. The artwork is so dope too! Back before this band had the massive cult following that they do now, I absolutely fell in love with Alkaline when it came out because it was like nothing I had heard before. I then backtracked to checking out Sundowning and the other singles they had released prior and loved every song I heard. Still absolutely love them and TMBTE was one of my favorite albums of last year, but am quite annoyed at how annoyingly popular they’ve become only in regards to bots and those only buying their stuff to resell it 🙄 #sleeptoken #thisplacewillbecomeyourtomb #worship #spinefarmrecords #metalcore #metalcorevinyl #vinyl #vinylcollector #vinylcollection #record #records #recordcollector #recordcollection #vinylrecord #vinylrecords #vinyligclub #vinylgram #instavinyl #coloredvinyl #coloredrecord #vinyladdict #vinyladdiction #vinyladdicts #recordaddict #recordaddiction #recordaddicts

Body and Soul / Walk Away - The Sisters of Mercy (1984). Some little gems snuck under the RADAR during RSD this year. For me one of the must-have records was this stunning mini album from The Sisters of Mercy. The mini album is two classic 1984 EP releases from the band. Side one is the Body and Soul EP, the second side is the Walk Away EP. The album is presented on blue smoke vinyl just to make it extra special and the labels are printed exactly like their originals on Merciful Release. A real celebration of the full-blown 80s goth era. #thesistersofmercy #walkaway #bodyandsoul #andreweldritch #waynehussey #garymarxx

Lady Marmalade - Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa, and P!nk Lady Marmalade, a LaBelle original, was the lead single for 2001’s Moulin Rouge movie soundtrack. I’ve only seen the film once, but the music video is a different story. I’ve watched it so many times I can effortlessly conjure up images of their now-iconic looks in my head. But it’s the ‘showdown’ that took place between P!nk and Christina Aguilera that made this song so unforgettable. All four ladies brought in their A-game for this Grammy-winning, chart-topping, one-time collaboration. Mýa perfectly opened Lady Marmalade with such sweet tone that would remain through out the song with her ad libs. Somewhere in the middle, Lil’ Kim would drop her verse, giving this revival a modern twist that surprisingly made this song fresh over twenty years later. And then of course, there’s the two power belters. The feud started in the early stages of production when they had to sort out who’s going to take the high part of the track. While it’s now obvious that Christina ended up having it, back then it created a tension between the two. You don’t even need to listen closely to notice that up towards the end of the song, the two vocalists were still fighting it out as to who’s gonna have the last ‘say’ on the track. You’ll just hear it. To me they remain to be the best, unofficial girl group ever that sadly only recorded one terrific song together. There might have been Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, The Pussycat Dolls, and Blackpink, but none of them compares to the broad appeal of this awesome quartet. They’ve got pop, rock, soul and hip hop on lock. And they couldn’t have picked a better song to cover.

1967-1970 - The Beatles (1973). There is only one album you can follow The Beatles 1962-1966 with and that’s 1967-1970, of course. Known as The Blue album 1967-1970 is a compilation that covers the later half of The Beatles career. 1967-1970 features the Beatles in their psychedelic phase and the latter more political part of their career as a band. Unlike the Red album (which is all Lennon & McCartney) the Blue Album contains four Harrison compositions and one by Ringo Star. The album opens with Strawberry Fields Forever and end, rather appropriately, with The Long and Winding Road. This German blue vinyl version was released in 1978 along with the red vinyl version of the Red Album. #thebeatles1967to1970 #thebeatles #thefoolonthehill #thelongandwindingroad #1967to1970 #thebluealbum

1962-1966 - The Beatles (1973). One of a pair of compilation albums of songs by The Beatles originally released in 1973. The album was instigated by Apple Records manager Allen Klein shortly before he was dismissed from his position. Even though the group had success with cover versions of songs, particularly “Twist and Shout”, 1962–1966 contains only songs composed by the Beatles. The album omits any George Harrison compositions from the era, such as “Taxman”, as the content is entirely Lennon–McCartney originals. This German red vinyl edition was released in 1978. #thebeatles #1962to1966 #theredalbum

🤍🤍🤍 The Tortured Poets Department- Taylor Swift 📜 I love love love Taylor Swift and had been so excited for this release as I did not know what to expect and when it came out I was seriously underwhelmed and thought honestly use this as a album to help my kids at work go to nap time…however after listening to it throughout the week I am obsessed with majority of the album and the album has some of the best songs she has ever written and I think releasing 31 songs at once can be pretty ovweherlming and they all start to sound like each other so listening to it piece by piece has helped me appreciate and grow to really like the album and songs! Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - The Flaming Lips (2002). Perhaps surprising for some, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is the tenth studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips. Lyrically the album covers a diverse range of topics, love, mortality, artificial emotion, pacifism, and deception all while telling the story of Yoshimi’s battle, however, the album is not a concept album despite four of the tracks telling the story of Yoshimi. On release the album received widespread critical acclaim and went on to become the band’s biggest commercial success. Uncut magazine declared that “even by their standards, Yoshimi is astonishing.” There were four singles from the album, Do You Realize?, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Part 1, Fight Test and Ego Tripping At the Gates of Hell. This red translucent version was released alongside the standard vinyl version in 2002. #theflaminglips #yoshimibattlesthepinkrobots

Black Pistol Fire - Look Alive Marigold white swirl -100. Haven’t done a more pure rock post in a bit. Not going to be as popular as my metalcore and poppunk posts (which I don’t care about), but I really love this album. Figured not many of you have heard of them so maybe someone will check them out and become a fan! Really fun southern/garage rock with a bit of more modern pop elements thrown in. Oddly this is my most limited record being only out of 100. I told myself I’d love to have this album on color, but figured these smaller rock/southern rock bands tend to only do black, so I was thrilled to find this at Zia. The yellow with white is super cool looking! The artwork is dope too! Now Playing! One of my all time favorites! And possibly the first full album I ever bought with my own money back when I was only 9 years old (1976) for $1.97 @ Licorice Pizza in Huntington Beach, Ca. The self titled Boston Debut. There aren’t many albums I can think of that have no B-side material on them. But this one is one of them. Starting off with “More than a feeling” and wrapping it all up with “Let me take you home tonight”, it’s pure genius and it flows so cleanly off the vinyl still. The Monkees Greatest Hits - The Monkees (1976). By the end of the 1960’s the Monkees popularity had waned considerably, however due to their TV show and mid 70s reruns, many of their hits became radio staples. The band had already released two compilation albums but both lacked promotion and sold poorly, making them hard to find. In 1976 to cash in on the success of their TV show popularity this compilation was released on Arista records. The album became a best-seller and remained available through the 1980s, with cassette and compact disc editions also appearing. When Rhino Records reissued the entire Monkees catalog during 1995, this and all previous Monkees compilations were deleted. In early 2019, however, this orange vinyl album returned to print as part of the HMV centenary celebrations. #themonkees #themonkeesgreatesthits #plesantvalleysunday

Norma Jean - Polar Similar Opaque off white in translucent red -1000. I had heard of Norma Jean before, but this was the first album I really listened to of theirs back when it came out, and I’ve really liked them ever since. This was one album (out of many) that I told myself I would buy no matter what if I stumbled upon a copy at Zia. I was surprised to find a sealed copy a couple weeks ago for the same price as it was back when it was released! Ralf und Florian - Kraftwerk (1973). The third album by Kraftwerk is still a much sought after record. Despite it being a fundamental album from one of the most important electronic bands in history, it remains without a rerelease. Along with the band’s first two albums, founding member Florian Schneider considers this “musical archeology” and to-date has steadfastly refused to rerelease them. The album was produced with the legendary Conny Plank at the helm. No material from this album has been performed in the band’s live set since 1976. Though the electronic sound of Ralf und Florian is more stylistically similar to Autobahn than it is to Kraftwerk’s first two albums, the band is seemingly reluctant to consider the album a part of its canon. There is no music with today’s post because the album has never been released digitally. #kraftwerk #ralfundflorian

Oh, Good Grief! - Vince Guaraldi (1968). I have always love the Peanuts cartoons, I got the humour right away and have been a fan since I was a small boy. Growing up I equally loved the cartoons and especially the wonderful music. Oh, Good Grief was the third soundtrack album released by Vince Guaraldi from his scores for the Peanuts cartoons. The first, Jazz Impressions of a Boy Named Charlie Brown was followed by the massive hit, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and after pressure from the studio a third helping, Oh, Good Grief! The album is extraordinarily short, coming in at an all too brief 27.31 (the sum of both sides). It has been noted that the tracks on this album are “presented in a manner wholly unlike the the quieter trio sound on A Boy Named Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas.” According to Derrick Bang, Guaraldi historian. This red vinyl repress was released in 2018. #vinceguaraldi #ohgoodgrief #charliebrown #peanuts #snoopy

The Tortured Poets Department - Taylor Swift Denial is perhaps the most convenient thing to do when faced with a personal truth. It takes months, sometimes years, and in Taylor Swift’s case four studio albums before I’ve come to terms that her music is no longer for me. When Folklore happened, I thought maybe the change was for the better. Pop stars are expected to reinvent anyways, so no big deal. Then Evermore followed just five months later and I’m thinking it was just her striking while the iron is hot. In 2022, Midnights arrived. While it’s slightly better than the previous two albums, there’s a feeling building inside of me that’s getting harder to shake off. Last Friday, the final nail in the coffin had arrived. The Tortured Poets Department dropped and I ran out of excuses for me to continue putting Taylor Swift in my musical pedestal. It’s almost like she’s working doubly hard in losing me as a fan with these super slow songs that don’t have peaks and valleys nor reach any climax. Consistency is normally a good thing when it comes to music, but the redundancy of the sound through out this record proved to be its biggest weakness. I do not know what other fans are hearing (that I’m completely missing) that makes them proclaim that it’s a great album, let alone a masterpiece. But if I could leave them a question, it will have to be this one: If this isn’t a Taylor Swift record, would you give these 31 songs the time of your day? Because I honestly won’t. It’s an album I wouldn’t mind not listening to again in my life, because I already have multiple LPs from the same artist with this identical sound. PS: Please do not invalidate the feelings of those who are TIRED of her sound. I know you’re neck-deep in your Taylor fanaticism and I know how it feels because I’ve been there myself, but don’t take it against other people if they no longer enjoy her as much as they did. Some of my friends, all Taylor fans, are also bored and exhausted at this point. If you enjoy TTPD, love that for you. But I wish I stopped listening to anything after Lover.

Hollywood Undead - New Empire, Vol. 1 Clear with black splatter -1700. Signed courtesy of Newbury Comics. I absolutely love HU, and pretty much every song of theirs is pretty high energy, which is awesome. I really like their more hard rock/metalcore/nu-metal themed songs over their more hip-hop ones (although some of those I do really like). With most of their albums there seem to only be a handful, maybe half at most, of those rock/metalcore/nu-metal based songs, so I’ve never had an entire album of theirs that I really love. This album is pretty much all but maybe 2 of those types of songs, easily making it my favorite album of theirs. I didn’t really care at all for New Empire, Vol. 2 as there weren’t any of those songs. HU is such a freaking fun live show btw! #hollywoodundead #newempirevol1 #hardrock #metalcore #numetal #hardrockvinyl #metalcorevinyl #numetalvinyl #vinyl #vinylcollector #vinylcollection #record #records #recordcollector #recordcollection #vinylrecord #vinylrecords #vinyligclub #vinylgram #instavinyl #coloredvinyl #coloredrecord #vinyladdict #vinyladdiction #vinyladdicts #recordaddict #recordaddiction #recordaddicts

Live at SoFi Stadium - The Weeknd Saving my tears for another day because I had a very successful RSD this year! When I set my alarm at 3:00 am, this was my sole motivating factor. Limited to just 7,500 copies worldwide and with The Weeknd being one of biggest stars in today’s music, I’m well aware that the competition is going to be stiff. Never mind that they categorized this release as an RSD First. His 2020 Black Friday title After Hours (Remixes) was also classified as an RSD First and that hasn’t seen a repress for four years and counting now. So I should know better than to take my chances. Funny how when a beloved track gets a live version and suddenly all of its ad libs become a part of the lyrics when you sing it. I mean, who here doesn’t say ‘we’d like to dedicate this next song to anyone who’s ever been dumped by somebody they love’ when Mariah Carey’s Someday is about to start? Or who doesn’t shout ‘New York!’ before going straight to the chorus of Ariana Grande’s NASA? There’s no shortage of those in The Weeknd’s first ever live album. And I think my favorite has to be ‘oh Los Angeles, I think I’m motherf***ing die for you’ during the Die For You intro. Of course, there’s that controversial voice mail from Save Your Tears too. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing The Weeknd live a couple of times when he headlined Coachella in 2018 and 2022. However, I completely missed out on After Hours til Dawn Tour. So to have this record in my collection felt like owning a VIP ticket to this exciting show. Front and center. No obstructed view. Just me in my living room. Bouncing up and down as his slew of hits come on.

The Joshua Tree - U2 (1987). Probably one of the biggest selling albums of the eighties, U2’s fifth studio album, The Joshua Tree finally put the band on a commercial scale that matched their ability to sell out stadiums live. The album saw a continuation of a shift in tone that began on the band’s previous album, in fact, keen listeners will notice that the first track on The Joshua Tree, Where The Streets Have No Name, begins with the same keyboard drone that closes The Unforgettable Fire at the end of MLK, before fading into the string sound that eventually launches the song. The Joshua Tree received critical acclaim across the board, and the best reviews of U2’s career to that point. Steve Pond of Rolling Stone wrote, “For a band that’s always specialized in inspirational, larger-than-life gestures—a band utterly determined to be Important—The Joshua Tree could be the big one, and that’s precisely what it sounds like.” Five singles were released from the album, With or Without You was released ahead of the album and was a significant change of speed for the band to release a ballad as the lead single, but it worked and the song was a hit worldwide. The next single was I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, a gospel inspired song about doubt. The third single was an edit of the opening track, Where the Streets Have No Name. The fourth and fifth singles were released in different regions, In God’s Country was released in North America and Europe and One Tree Hill was released in Australia and New Zealand. This gold vinyl edition was released to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary in 2018 (a year late). Released in a gatefold sleeve that includes: 12”x12” booklet of lyrics, photographs and credits and comes with printed inner sleeves. #u2 #thejoshuatree #wherethestreetshavenoname #istillhaventfoundwhatimlookingfor #ingodscountry #onetreehill

I delved into their catalogue after hearing doomswitch which I’m so unhealthily obsessed with to the point if I got married it would be on the playlist sue me it’s a bop. This album is fantastic from start to finish and one that I was desperate to get hold of but was unattainable in the UK so you can imagine my excitement to find it at The Attic in Pittsburgh during my trip. A New World Record - Electric Light Orchestra (1976). A New World Record is the sixth studio album by Birmingham band, Electric Light Orchestra - that’s Birmingham UK not Alabama. The album saw ELO shift to short form pop songs, a format that would bring them global success and that they would stick with for the rest of their career. There were four singles taken from the album, Livin’ Thing, Do Ya- a re-recording of a track first recorded by Lynn’s first band, The Move - Rockaria!, and Telephone Line. The cover art features the ELO logo, designed by Kosh, for the first time; this logo would be included on most of the group’s subsequent releases. The album sold 5 million units in its first year of release, the album has been certified platinum in Canada, USA and the U.K. This red vinyl version was released in 1978, along with three other colour vinyl releases to celebrate the success of Out The Blue, which was released on blue vinyl. #anewworldrecord #elo #electriclightorchestra #rockaria #telephoneline #doya #livinthing

You all are still as awesome as you were when I started posting, so thank you again! I really enjoyed this album! Nowhere near as much as their older albums, but was nice to hear Tom in blink again! I think I’m one of the few who actually liked Matt Skiba era blink (although I love Alk3 so I was a bit biased). My favorite songs are Bad News, Anthem Pt 3, and More Than You Know. The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (1973). Today (19th April) sees the release of the official Pink Floyd 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of their eighth album, The Dark Side of the Moon. Wanting to distance themselves from the rather dreadful Redux version re-recorded and released by Roger Waters last year, Pink Floyd have produced this jaw dropingly beautiful version of their seminal masterpiece. Released on two discs, each disc featuring one side of music from the album pressed on heavyweight 180g clear vinyl with a UV colour print on the back, giving the stunning appearance of a picture disc with visible artwork but without the terrible quality issues that come with traditional picture discs. The album comes packaged with a new 50th anniversary poster and full slipcase to help keep your cover in pristine condition. Following on from Kate Bush who did the same thing with Hounds of Love last year (one sided pressing with UV print on the b-side). This amazing innovation finally delivers for fans and collectors a high fidelity picture disc. The sound quality is spot on and the designs chosen for the art is taken from the cover so matches perfectly. I don’t need to tell you anything about the music, you know everything there is to know, it’s an all-time classic. #thedarksideofrhemoon #pinkfloyd #thedarksideofthemoon50thaniversary

Slade In Flame - Slade (1974). If you asked most people from around the world who the biggest selling artist of the 1970s was in Britain and you might expect answers like Bowie or Elton John or Led Zeppelin or maybe even the Sex Pistols but in fact it was Slade. Slade formed in Wolverhampton in 1966 but it wasn’t until the 70s that they began to catch the imagination of the British public. By the end of the 70s they had achieved 17 consecutive top 20 hits, six number one singles, three of them entering the charts at number one - the first British band to achieve that. By the time they had split they had sold 50 million records worldwide. In 1974, tired of the album/tour/album cycle, the bands manager suggested the band make a film. The band agreed. Rather than make a film about their happy-go-lucky image the band had they went for a gritty tale about the rise and fall of a fictional band called Flame. The soundtrack album was broadly well received but it confused many pundits as the film was set in the sixties but the music was more contemporary. A lot of film critics felt it was a superb movie, British legend, Mark Kermode called it “the Citizen Kane of British pop movies”. This ‘flame’ coloured vinyl edition was released in 2021. If you haven’t listened to Slade I highly recommend their early singles. The band are still playing today but the only original member is guitarist Dave Hill. #slade #sladeinflame #farfaraway #howdoesitfeel

Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division (1979). Unknown Pleasures is the critically acclaimed debut by Manchester post-punk band, Joy Division. Since the album’s release the critical praise for the album has been sustained and the album is not considered one of the greatest albums of all time. There were no singles taken from the album although every track is known and loved by followers of the band. The album was recorded in Strawberry Studios in Stockport, over three weekends. This ruby red vinyl version of the album was released to celebrate the albums 40th anniversary in 2018. Sadly it was the only album released during lead singer, Ian Curtis’ lifetime. #joydivision #unknownpleasures #sheslostcontrol #manchester
