Did you know that the woman in this picture once asked her pastor whether, on her wedding day, he could instruct everyone to please look anywhere but at her as she walked down the aisle? Yeah, I have been resisting this whole visibility thing for a long, long time. Heather has known this day was coming long before I did. And that's not to say I have never believed that I "have something to offer the world" - I just didn't really like the idea that people would have to know that it was me offering it. Couldn't I just do my thing behind the scenes and not have anyone really know who I was? I suppose I could have. But also... One of the features of our business is that it is rooted in a sense of community, cooperation, and collaboration. Heather and I have worked really hard at our partnership so that both of our gifts could not just complement each other's but help each other shine too. I wanted to try to unpack that. What makes for a good support person? How do you work behind the scenes in support of others and still maintain a separate identity? How do you avoid the pitfalls of codependency and resentment?
