"As a nationally important site for insect conservation, people from across the UK and beyond will visit this park to spot different species of native butterflies, dragonflies, bees and other insects in the various habitats on site. Through reinstating the heathland habitat that has been lost and introducing new habitats such as wetland, wet woodland areas and aquatic habitats to the site, the species of butterflies and other insects living on site will be incredibly diverse. The site will attract people seeking more of an understanding of and connection to the land. Whether that be through the physical experience of taking part in workshops working with natural materials, learning about forest management, foraging or habitat regeneration to those who wish to retreat away from day to day life through connecting with nature through wild swimming, nature spotting and meditating in the landscape. The Shrine asks visitors to barefoot walk on the white gravel path on its premises. Petit ordeal! Simple but a hard one. Barefoot walking on pebbles is painful. The sign says, ’the first pass you get calm, the second, you get concentrated. On the last walk, when done - you will be energized and satisfied’. The first gravel walk pass was indeed the most challenging. My soles ached like HELL. Did you know you can draw a mandala as a way of expressing your feelings? You will need: Blank paper Pencil (Grey) Circle stencils (or anything that is round- like the top of a container) Colouring pencils / crayons / paint 1. Start with drawing a circle on the middle of the paper. 2. Draw some more circles crossing over the first circle. 3. Make your mandala the way you want it. Follow your gut - do not worry about the end product, but do something that feels right for you at the moment. 4. Colour in your mandala 5. TAKE some quiet time (alone in the garden or in your room) and really look at your mandala. 6. Ask yourself: what do you see? What images comes to mind when you look at it? 7. Take as long as you like and just meditate on what you got out of your mandala. Did you get a message from it? *If you want to, you can download a mandala from the internet, decorate it and use that as meditation. This is me at the beach. One of my happy places. Since I was really young, I had this calling to spend time at the beach. I lived in the city, but had posters of the ocean all over my room. When on holiday, I learned how to surf and would spend my entire day sitting on the beach, my toes in the sand and listening to the crashing sounds of the waves. Today I realize that this is not just something I like. But everyone has a grounding technique. Something to help them recharge, something to heal all the pain and help them to reflect and plan. For me it is nature. I also love open fields, mountains and forestry. But the beach..... The beach wins by far! Now with this whole lockdown, I cannot go to the beach or even leave the province. So I take some time to do gardening to get close to nature.
