Ah how I love a fated mates/found family plot. It always hits just right and this was no exception. And it’s about the four horsemen of the apocalypse? Um, yes please! (And believe me, they’re all very skilled and handsome) I loved the characters in this, especially Hazel but of course Nevaeh and Anxo as horsemen death and conquer are really sweet right from the beginning. So much of this book felt like a warm hug. The found family aspect of it is just so heartwarming and the concept of soulmates is a huge aspect of this book which I loved. Romantasy might be my favourite genre right now 🤭 This was an impressive and detailed debut, I loved the descriptions of everyone’s powers and I can’t wait to hear more about them because it seems like we’re only at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the lore and world building for this world. I need to see more of what Hazel and Seiji can do with their powers because they seem so cool. And Anxos dirty mouth sometimes 👀 he caught me off guard. He’s the definition of gentleman in the streets but a freak in the sheets. You’ll love him, I promise. I’d recommend this one to anyone to enjoys a good Romantasy book and adores the fated mates trope because it has that in spades, thoroughly enjoyed reading it. 💕 Also! It LITERALLY has all of the things I love in a great story. It’s like Deadpool ☠️💩(swearing & gore, that’s funny) + Percy Jackson 🔱🌊(mythical figures in the modern era... but make it for grown ups) + Lucifer 😈🔥(devil/death/funny & zany characters in found family... minus police procedural) + Butcher & Blackbird 🔪🖤(dark humor & romance with a bit of characteristically perfect violence & traumatic pasts... but add fantasy/mythology). Leona’s debut is fantastically written! Her characters are a bunch of lovable, hot-mess, curse-filled, teddy bear, bringers of the apocalypse. The story is complex and filled with surprises, but you’ll be laughing all the way. It does touch on sensitive topics, mainly the PTS of being kidnapped and tortured for a decade, especially dealing with the mental toll that takes. But these struggles only add to the story and depth of the characters. This story is such a great read and you should definitely check it out.
