Did you know the drop in your body temperature after leaving the bath or shower can play a role in sleep quality? Here's how it works: 🛁 Melatonin Production: The drop in body temperature after a warm bath or shower can trigger the release of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles. This can help promote deeper and more restful sleep. 🛀🏻 Thermoregulation: Your body's internal temperature naturally decreases as part of its circadian rhythm, signalling that it's time to sleep. The drop in external temperature after a bath or shower can help facilitate this process by enhancing your body's ability to cool down. 💆‍♀️ Relaxation: The warm water of a bath or shower can induce relaxation and reduce stress, which are conducive to falling asleep. Additionally, the increase in blood flow to the skin during bathing can promote a feeling of warmth and comfort. This is one of the reasons why a bath or shower is always included in recommended bedtime routines for babies and children. It's also a great way to pass the time after a long day and you need to fill the final wake window before bed 🙌🏻 Who else adds an extra layer of luxe in winter by warming their kids towels and pyjamas on the oil heater? 🙋🏼‍♀️ Absolute heaven! . . . . . . . . . . . #babysleeproutine #bedtime #bedtimeroutine #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #baby #toddler #newborn #sleeptips #toddlerroutine #bath #bathtime

Bed time battles with your toddler can be hard and exhausting... Toddlers tend to get to bed time and all of sudden resist going to bed as they don't want to miss out. You may find they procrastinate or start asking every question under the sun! This is just their way of saying they want more time with you. Therefore, to try prevent this from happening we need to focus on filling up their love cup❤️ This may be through slowing down their wind down ritual before bed time, lots of extra hugs or even enjoying a family dinner together. One really important way is to try spend 15 minutes of undivided attention with your little one before bed time. Also, if you are finding your little one is requesting the same thing each night, prolonging going to bed. Try be one step ahead and prepared with this request. My daughter before bed time would always ask for water, so now I make sure I bring her water bottle into the bed room and offer it to her every night before bed. #toddlersleep #toddlersleephelp #toddlersleeptips #toddlerroutine #happytoddler #babysleepconsultant #mumlife #motherhoodjourney

14/15 - 36 MONTH ROUTINE 🕖 ✨Occasionally some babies will still be on two naps a day aged 18 months but the majority will be down to 1. As mentioned in yesterday's post, the transition from 2 - 1 can vary day by day. A bridging nap of 20 mins max in the morning can help in this instance, allowing a baby with higher sleep needs 'get through' to their lunchtime/afternoon nap,. ✨From 2 years old, we start to see more divergence between children's sleep needs with some no longer needing a nap, and some still needing a nap even beyond 3 years old. In my experience with H, he dropped his nap around 2.5years (just as the twins arrived!) but we found he needed a little 45 mins or so at the weekend as he was so tired from 5 days at nursery during the week. ✨If in doubt, keep the nap and just shorten it if you are concerned about it affecting night-time sleep. If they aren't able to make a full day without their energy and mood changing by bedtime it's worth including in your daytime routine. ✨Did you find this useful? Save and share with a friend who has a toddler and may be uncertain about daytime napping! I will cover off nap transitions next so keep a look out! xx #14monthroutine #15monthroutine #toddlerroutine #droppingnaps #bridgingnap #infantsleeptraining #infantsleep #infantsleepcoach #infantsleeptips #infantsleephelp #libbysleep #sleep #sleeptrainingtips #babyroutine #naps #sleeproutine #babyroutinenight #tiredparent #sleepcoaching #childsleeptips #sleeptraininghelp #toddler #toddlersleeping #toddlersleep #toddlersleeptips #toddlersleephelp

If you've checked all the obvious things like room temperature and lighting and you've addressed your baby's needs like nappy change and hunger but they're still waking frequently at night? Then here are a few things to think about ➡️ 1️⃣ You baby/toddler may be getting too much or too little daytime sleep. Both will affect how well your little one will sleep at night 2️⃣ They don't know how to fall asleep by themselves. So if you rock/hold them or use motion to help them off to sleep, they will look for your help each time they way at night also. 3️⃣ How you respond to their night wakings really matters! If you sometimes rock them back to sleep then the next night you feed them because it's the quickest solution - this is confusing to your baby. Pick a response method you're comfortable with and stick to it. If you're struggling with self settling just know that I have plans to help you with that. #sleepschedules #sleepsonsultant #gentlesleeptraining #sleepwhatsthat #sleepschedules #toddlerroutine #bedtimeroutine #nocryitout #sleeptrainingtips #sleeptrainingfail #tiredmomsclub #tiredmama #newparents #babiesofinstagram #toddlersofinstagram #4monthsold #6monthsold #8monthsold #1yearold #2yearsold #terribletwos #toddlertantrums #wontsleep #sendcoffee #boymum

A night terror is a type of sleep disorder which involves abnormal movements, behaviours that occur during or after a sleep stage. These night terrors can be quite scary for a parent to witness; however your little one is unaware of what is going on. Below are some things to that may occur if you believe your little one is experiencing night terrors: - Quickened heart rate, sweating, screaming/ crying - Your little one won't remember the night terror, whereas a nightmare they will be able to talk about - Most likely after a night terror your little one will just fall back asleep - Thrashing around in their bed - They can start with one big scream - They won't respond to you if you try to engage with them - Night terrors tend to occur in the first few hours of falling asleep and can last between 5-15 minutes, sometimes longer If all these factors sound like your little one, don't intervene when they are experiencing a night terror. Try to just monitor them and keep them safe! Keep in mind night terrors are more likely to occur if your little one is overtired or too hot. #babysleeptips #babysleeptips #babysleepconsultant #sleephelp #babyroutine #toddlerroutine #nightterrors #nightsleep #mumlife #motherhoodjourney

Bedtime signifies a long period of separation from you for your little one and it can be tough. Some toddlers struggle to settle down for bed and it can bring on some delay tactics or full on meltdowns. Here are 6 tips to help prepare your toddler for bedtime. Some children can get a sudden burst of energy in the evening. Help your child get all their “wiggles” out before you settle down for the evening. High energy games like hide and seek, rough housing, a dance party are great to get any energy out before they go to bed. Before you start the bedtime routine, dim the lights in your living space, turn off the TV and tidy the toys away from the day. This can also signify the end of the day/playtime for your toddler, Explain that it is time to quieten down before bed. Have a consistent bedtime routine for your child. Steps that you repeat every night, a time that you reconnect and fill up their cup. Your bedtime routine is unique to your child and family. Keep the timing of the bedtime routine to about 20-30mins. If your child is struggling with night time separation, rather than focusing on the separation, focus on when you will reunite with them in the morning. “I cannot wait to see you in the morning and have breakfast together” Bedtime battles can happen for many reasons, but getting your child involved in their routine routine can help with giving them some autonomy. Create or buy action cards that demonstrate’s what is going to happen at each stage of bedtime. Lastly reduce any stress you have around bedtime by TRYING to create a time of connection with your toddler, a time you all look forward to. #bedtimeroutine #toddlerroutine #toddlerbedtime #toddlersleephelp #toddlersleep #toddlermum #gentlesleepcoach #gentleparenting

🌝 Real Life Moment 🌝 we don’t always have time to set up amazing invitations to play, particularly after a long day of work or learning at early education. sometimes we just need to get through the night routine. even in these task driven moments, we like to use PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) with M. PACE not only promotes positive attachment and feelings of safety but makes our night time routine so much smoother. our beautiful @taratreasures Humpty Dumpty from @cheekyjunior has been a key part of our night time routine since he arrived. M LOVES reading/singing and Humpty gives the perfect element of play to our nightly story time/ nursery rhyme singing and apparently him falling apart is just hilarious (every single time!) 🤣 what makes your nightly routine run smoothly?

Over-prompting can lead to potty training struggles! 😣 If your little one relies on an adult to tell them when to use the potty, it may be difficult for them to learn to listen to their body cues and initiate on their own. This can lead to accidents! There are 2 times prompted potty sits are recommended: 🚽 Your child just had an accident 🚽You are presenting a Routine Sit About 3-4 Routine Sits can be incorporated into your daily routine. Some examples: 🔹After waking up 🔹After lunch 🔹Before taking a bath 🔹Before bedtime If you notice your child is showing signs of needing to go potty, provide them with a Potty Reminder to help them recognize their body cues and head to the potty. As part of our nightly routine, we let our kids choose one book each before bedtime. 📖 Tonight, my daughter selected this particular book, and as soon as I saw the cover, I exchanged a knowing look with my husband and teasingly said, "It's your favorite...". 😉 He responded with a playful glare, indicating I would be reading that book to them tonight, not him. 😆 It's become a bit of a household joke whenever our kids pick this specific book. My husband finds it a bit sad and always tries to avoid reading it. ❌ Admittedly, it does tug at the heartstrings, but I also see it as a tender reflection of life's different phases and the enduring love we have for our children, no matter what. 💓 What do you think of this book? 🤔 Is it a regular feature in your home, or do you, like my husband, stash it away behind other books in the hopes that the kids won't rediscover it? 😂 #bedtimeroutine #bedtimereading #bedtimebooks #toddlerlife #toddlerroutine #bedtime #books #loveyouforever #pediatricsleepconsultant #favoritebook #kidsbooks

This one is a definite 'NO' from me There are many reasons why its a good idea to wake babies from naps or from night sleep 💓 Babies have a biological need to feed (whether it be milk or solid foods) and bubs who oversleep especially during the day can end up going without the age appropriate amount of milk feeds or meals. This is particularly important with newborn babies who I recommend waking to feed every 2-3 hours during the day and every 3 hours overnight 💓Babies need enough awake time in the day to thrive, develop and to learn important skills like playing, eating etc. They also need an opportunity in the day to build up enough "sleep debt" to settle and sleep well at the next nap or of an evening ie. a baby who has a gigantic nap in the morning could then fight naps for the remainder of the day resulting in a very overtired and grumpy (and wakeful!) baby in the night. Another example of capping naps to promote sleep at ideal times of day is waking bub by a certain point of an afternoon so that they don't sleep all afternoon/evening and then wake at say 5/6/7pm ready to party the night away! 💓Waking babies at a consistent time each morning sets up circadian rhythm aka the body clock, from early on to establish a clear difference between night and day #sleepconsultant #sleepnurse #sleeptraining #sleepingthrough #toddlersleep #babysleephelp #overtired #sleepdeprivation #toddlerbed #toddlerroutine #catnaps #babysleep #sleepingbaby #babysleephelp #nightwakes #selfsettling #naptrapped #tiredmum #sleepdeprived #sleepprogram

14 MONTHS 💫🤍 Guys…. When did this happen? How did this happen? Did time not immediately freeze when she turned one?! I got my head around the idea of having a one year old but now I really have to question myself anytime someone asks me her age! 👀 Here is our little update… 💤 One daytime nap 12:30-2:30pm approx. She had been sleeping through the night from 6:30pm-7:00am but for the last two weeks we’ve had a real blip where she’s waking up every night for around 1-2 hours! I’m blaming the 🦷 🍽️ H is still a brilliant eater! On the whole she eats three decent sized meals a day with at least 2 snacks in between. Her favourite foods at the moment are pasta/rice/raspberries/bananas/toast/prawns & she still prefers flavour and spice! She is also obsessed with fruit bakes and points to the snack drawer where they live several times a day! 👀 🤱 She now tends to only BF after her breakfast, with the occasional additional feed if she’s upset or if she wakes up around our bedtime 🥛 She has two small cups of cows milk each day, one just before her lunchtime nap and one at bedtime 🦆 Hallie still loves animals. She knows most animal sounds and performs on cue as long as she’s in the right mood. Her elephant impression is our favourite. She’s very sweet & gentle with Trish (our dog) who is very tolerant too! She loves reading books, being chased, going in the swings & playing with her dolly 👗 Currently between 9-12 months and 12-18 months, brand dependent! 🦷 We haven’t got any more teeth yet (still on 8) but there are four big ones on their way which have been causing her quite a lot of trouble for the last couple of weeks #milestones #14monthsold #toddler #toddlermom #toddlerlife #toddlermomlife #motherhood #parenting #honestparenting #breastfeeding #extendedbreastfeeding #toddlersleep #toddlerroutine #dailyroutine #babyroutine #momroutine #oneyearold #parentinghacks

Is bedtime taking too long? Check out the below! ⬇️ 🌙 Is your little one tired enough? Their wake window to bedtime might need extending so that their sleep pressure is high. 🌙 Have they had time to ‘get their movement out’? Sometimes some silly time can help to get rid of energy & use up cortisol before winding down. 🌙 Is your little one dragging out aspects of the routine? One more book? Doesn’t want to wear those PJ’s? Set clear boundaries (the number of books) and think about giving them choices such as which PJ’s so that they feel they have some control & are part of the decision making. 🌙 Consistency & routine - little ones love familiarity and knowing what comes next so keep their routine the same each night to help manage their expectations. #baby #babysleep #bedtime #bedtimeroutine #toddlersleep #toddlerroutine #babyroutine #tired #tiredbaby #needmoresleep #parenting #parentingtips #nursery #sleepcoach #sleepconsultant #gentlesleeptraining #sleeptraining #overtired #sleeptips #sleeptight

🤔 What are the main reasons I come across for babies or children having trouble to fall asleep at bedtime? ⭐️ 1. Under-tired/over-tired. Your baby may just not be ready to go to sleep yet because they had too much sleep during the day. They need time to build up sleep pressure to sleep for a long stretch overnight. Or, they aren't getting enough sleep during the day which means they end up overtired and often end up having false starts after bedtime. Both of these can be fixed with a routine change. ⭐️ 2. Inconsistent support/sleep environment. If they fall asleep well at bedtime but when they wake in the night it's a different matter, have a look at their environment and see what's different. ⭐️ 3. What worked before isn't working anymore. A good example is rocking to sleep. If it used to take 10 minutes and now takes 45 minutes, it's likely that they need either a routine change or that method just doesn't do it for them anymore. Change it up! 📱 I find that a lot of these issues are solved with a few tweaks and suggestions that are age appropriate. Book in a 30 Minute Confidence Call, that comes with a Basic Sleep Plan at the Link in the Bio or comment "sleep" below and I'll DM you the details. #sleeptrainingsuccess #sleepconsultant #sleepcoach #gentlesleepcoach #babyroutine #toddlerroutine #sleepthoughthenight #babysleephelp

With daylight savings approaching it may be a good idea to start to think about how you will tackle this change. If the thought of making change to your baby's routine is overwhelming or stressful, then there is no need to make any change! Just go with the flow! However, if you are wanting to gradually support your baby to adjust their routine, here is how! This is a gradual approach meaning you will push the whole day out by adding 15 minutes more awake time to the first awake window. You will need to adjust meal times too. Below is an example of a 7am wake up: Wednesday- Add 15 minutes to first awake window, 7:15pm bed time Thursday- Add another 15 minutes to first awake window, 7:30pm bed time Friday- Add another 15 minutes to first awake window, 7:45pm bed time Saturday- Add another 15 minutes of awake time to first awake window, 8pm bed time Sunday- Back to 7pm bed time, the clock has now gone backwards #babysleep #babysleeptips #babysleephelp #daylightsavings #babyroutine #toddlerroutine #mumlife #motherhoodjourney #babysleepconsultant

Baby and Toddler Daytime Routines ⭐Save this post for later so you always have the next ideal routine for your little one. As a first-time mum, I found having a routine to work towards incredibly helpful. It gave me a sense of structure and helped establish good habits for my little one. ‼️However, it’s important to note that every child is unique. My little one wasn’t sleeping as long at 6 months, and instead, he was catnapping and on 5 naps a day. So, consider this routine as a guide, not a strict rule. You might wonder why my wake windows are shorter than others. The reason is simple: they work! They’ve been effective for all my clients, and they can work for you too. Of course, there are exceptions, and I’ll support you in finding what works best for your child. 👇🏽If you have any questions about your little one’s routine, drop them in the comments below, and I’d love to help you out. #babyroutine #toddlerroutine #ParentingTips #momlife #firsttimemum #parentingadvice #babysleep #childsleep #mumtips #gentlesleeptraining

🌺 Spring Clock Change - Top Tips 🌺 ⏰ The clocks are changing on Sunday and I know that for some parents this can cause a bit of worry/stress. ⏰ The Clock Change ⏰ The clock change will happen on Sunday 31st March. Here are a few options of how you can help your child adjust! Which option will you choose? I will be using Option 1 and going cold turkey. This is a good option if you have laid back children who are in a good sleep routine already. Option 2 is popular approach for children who may struggle with losing an hour of sleep on the Saturday night. If your little one struggles in the day with their naps and needs to make up the time at bedtime, this is a good approach for you. Option 3, this is very gradual and good for children who find it hard to adjust to changes in routine and lack of sleep. #clockchange #springforward #sleepconsultant #sleephelp #sleepsupport #babyroutine #toddlerroutine #babysleep #toddlersleep #babysleepconsultant #babysleepsupport #babysleepcoach

It’s almost that time of year when the clocks change, going forward by an hour. So technically we lose an hour. So if your little one likes to start the day too early at 5.30am then the wake up will become 6.30am but sadly you won’t have managed to enjoy the extra hour in bed on Sunday morning. This is often the preferred clock change as it can help reset an early waking by moving to a more sociable hour of the morning. If you find it slips back to what it was before within a few days there may need to be an adjustment to their routine, including meals, nap time and bedtime. If your little one sleeps well then normally any disruption to their routine naturally settles in a few days. On the Sunday following on from the clock change with my children I would try and follow our normal routine but if I felt they weren’t ready for a meal or nap/bedtime I would put it back by half an hour and soon everything fell back into place. There is also the option of moving your little ones routine by 15 minutes earlier every day in the few days before the clock change, so by the time Sunday comes they have already adjusted themselves to the hour change. As we head into spring and summer the morning and evenings are going to become brighter so if you don’t have a black out blind already it would definitely be worth getting one so the sunlight doesn’t disturb them which can result in difficulty settling them at night and the cause of early wakings. #babysleep #toddlersleep # babyroutine #springequinox #sleep consultant #babysleeptips #toddlersleeptips #toddlerroutine #clockchange

🚀 We took a trip into town today with some friends to explore the @leedsbid Leodis Space Agency activities dotted around the city centre. The boys loved it especially @the.play.tent pop up in @trinityleeds they were engrossed in their play for ages and I'm sure they would have stayed and played longer if we didn't have to leave for lunch. We found it really engaging for our energetic toddlers. I'd definitely recommend paying a visit as it's all free and if you have toddlers/preschoolers it should be quieter visiting this week before schools break up. #playmakes #allplaynowork #leedsbid #leodisspaceagency #easterholidays #sensoryplay #freeplay #daysout #daysoutwithkids #parentingtips #parentingtoddlers #toddlerroutine

With the weather forecast looking positively dismal over the next few weeks I thought I'd share some of D's recent favourite indoor play setups. I've mentioned before we don't have a huge house and our living space is open plan so I've tried to make our toy setup as compact and aesthetically pleasing as possible, meaning this IKEA TROFAST unit has to work especially hard. It's really lovely seeing D's little face light up and his imagination spark when he comes down to his toys all refreshed on a morning. I've been trying to switch this end of the unit around a couple of times a week, usually when he stops playing with it and moves on to something else. I've used command strips and some little plastic hooks I got at our local DIY shop to attach the baskets which makes it really easy to change up the layout and the little shelf is the IKEA BEKVÄM spice rack which is such a perfect fit. •2-4 "D's Cafe" - I set this one up as D loves playing with all my herbal tea sachets. He's also been getting really creative recently with making us pretend meals and snacks and loves going out to a real cafe if we have a day out. •5-7 Building and construction - I'm pretty sure there's not a moment when this boy isn't thinking about some form of vehicles. Diggers are a firm favourite so I set these up with one of his favourite books and some recently purchased @plusplus_uk blocks for him to build with. I also added his tools and some wooden mechano which was an absolute bargain we found in the charity shop. • 8-10 Supermarket - This is probably D's favourite role play setup at the minute, he absolutely loves a trip to the supermarket and recreating every step of the process at home. I got the little till set second-hand off eBay for his birthday last year and also added some cartons of beans/pulses from our pantry cupboard as he always pulls these out to play with them anyway. Let me know in the comments what we should create next 💭 #playmakes #allplaynowork #indoorplay #rainyday #ikeahack #ikeatrofast #storage #storagesolutions #storageideas #toystorage #parenting #mumhacks #toddlermum #parentingtoddlers #toddlerroutine #sensoryplay #diysensoryplay #freeplay #freep

Do you have to do a bath each night before bed? No! Now you might be confused by this answer because you have heard people, including myself, say be sure to do a consistent routine every night. Yes, we want consistency in the steps of the routine but a bath can be substituted for a sponge bath or a wipe-down - you don't need to do a full dunkaroo. Some people may also wish to do a bath in the morning or before dinner rather than before bed. For our children, we do bath 2-3 times a week, more in the summer and if they've had a diaper blowout we do an immediate bath. We also have done baths for the sake of an activity as they are wild and need a sensory activity - it wasn't a part of their bedtime routine. So, what do you do in your family? Daily baths or a few across the week? So glad we managed to get out in the garden today to start planting this year's veggies! This is something we've been doing long before D came along so it's really amazing to see him so enthusiastic about growing our own food. He loves going around the garden picking the herbs and eating them straight off the bushes and is learning which plants he can and can't eat. This boy can spot a rosemary bush a mile off, we've caught him walking straight up to it and taking big bites out of it before 😅 Today we started off sowing our legumes, last year the Mangetout were a firm favourite so we've planted more of these this year. I've also got some heritage Carlin Pea seeds to try alongside some of our other favourites so will see how they get on. If anyone in the north Leeds area would like some seeds to try planting with their little ones drop me a DM, I saved loads last year so we've got plenty left over. It's a great activity for learning patience, connecting with nature and our food and getting those seeds in the holes is great for their fine motor skills too 👋 #playmakes #allplaynowork #sowingseeds #growyourown #kidsinnature #getoutdoors #parenting #parentingtips #toddlermum #parentingtoddlers #toddlerroutine #sensoryplay #diysensoryplay #freeplay #freeplayideas

Are you struggling with bedtime battles and a delayed onset of sleep with your toddler or pre-schooler??? Here’s how you can fix this issue and start bringing bedtime forward; 💫 You’ve got to a have a solid bedtime routine in place. If you fluctuate from 2 books to 0 books or run random bedtimes all the time your child has little consistency and predictability so they’re going to push the boundaries at bedtime. 💫 It might be time to take a look at naps, As a general rule of thumb once your baby is on 2 naps ideally you want the second nap to finish at 3/3:30pm at the latest. If your baby is over 2 then check how much day sleep they’re having, if they’re having 1 nap of 3 hours then yep they’re not going to be ready for bed until late and most likely night sleep is not great either. 💫 Less screen time & more active playtime, we’re all going to offer our kids screen time if you don’t what’s your secret seriously? But what we want to see is screen time really stopping before dinner time and there to be some playtime after dinner. Let it be rough and tumbles or running outside. It’s a great way to burn off any excess energy before bedtime routine. 💫 Increase your 1:1 time, I get it life is busy especially if you’re a working parents. Set aside sometime even if it’s just 5-10 minutes when you get home or after dinner to have some 1:1 time, then some more during your child’s bedtime routine. This fills their little love cup so they’re not as needy and calling out at bedtime. 💫 If your child is used to going to sleep at 9pm, don’t try and swiftly move their bedtime to 7pm that is not going to work. You want to shift it back gradually by 15 mins every few nights until you find their sweet spot. If you are struggling with your child’s sleep, it’s time to reach out and take action. Comment LINK below and I’ll send you the link to the Toddler & Preschooler Comprehensive Routine Guides (ages 18-24 months, 2-3 years, and 3-5 years) to help you troubleshoot your child’s sleep routine 😴 . Does your child scream when dad (or mom, grandma, other mom, etc) tries to do bedtime? 😩🙈 . First off, you are not alone. It is very common for toddlers and preschoolers to prefer one caregiver over another. While this can feel SO hard for the non-preferred caregiver, it does not mean anything about the strength of your relationship with your child. Young children simply go through phases of caregiver preference. . However, it can feel so draining for the preferred caregiver to do bedtime every. single. night. It is totally valid to want to make a change - but for toddlers and preschoolers, change and unpredictability are HARD, which is why bedtime can turn into such a battle. . The solution? Make this change PREDICTABLE 👏 for your child and then hold the boundary. These tips teach you how! . SAVE this post to if you found it helpful and SHARE it with a friend or family member 🤍 . Happy Mother's Day 🌻 We made some mother's day cards this week for our Nana's and Great Nana's. The last time I tried suggesting making a card for someone I was met with some resistance so I asked D to do some painting and turned it into these flower cards. It was super easy to do as we didn't have to buy any new materials, just used what we had to hand and gave a nice little personal touch to our cards. #playmakes #allplaynowork #mothersday #happymothersday #crafting #painting #diy #rainyday #artsandcrafts #parenting #parentingtips #toddlermum #parentingtoddlers #toddlerroutine #sensoryplay #diysensoryplay #freeplay #freeplayideas

Attention parents of soon-to-be 2-year-olds! Brace yourselves for the 2-year sleep regression, but fear not, it's the final stretch of the infamous sleep regressions. Here's what you need to know 👇 🌙 Your little one's sleep may take a turn from good to... not so good. 🌙 Longer awake periods during the day are becoming the new norm. 🌙 Daytime naps might start to dwindle, but they're often still needed. 🌙 Developmental milestones may cause bedtime battles - hello, FOMO! 🌙 Balancing day and night sleep is like walking a tightrope. 🌙 Naps? What naps? Your toddler might resist, even if they desperately need them. 🌙 The regression can last anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks. 🌙 Stick to those healthy sleep habits! 🌙 Not every toddler will go through this phase. Our tips to help with this phase: ✔️ Keep changes minimal. Consistency is key - stick to routines! ✔️ Limit awake time between naps and bedtime (5 hours max). ✔️ Ensure your toddler is nice and active in the lead up to bedtime. Chilling out too much can lead to more bedtime battles. ✔️ Opt for a distraction-free sleep environment. ✔️ Hold off on transitioning to a bed unless safety is a concern. Big transitions like this while sleep is already tricky can be tough. Remember, this too shall pass. Hang in there, parents! Your good sleeper will return 💤

You may find that your baby has a shorter awake time in the morning, but longer as the day goes on. This is only a guide, as each individual baby/ toddler can handle a different amount of awake time. You also need to look out for tired cues to help determine your little ones correct awake time. Below are the age-appropriate awake windows: Newborn: 1 hr 3-6 weeks: 1.2hrs 6-9 weeks: 1.5hrs 9- 12 weeks: 1.75hrs 12-16 weeks: 1.5-2hrs 16-18 weeks: 2 hrs 5 months: 2.25hrs 7 months+ 2.5hrs: ( Most little ones drop to 2 naps around now and therefore have 4 hrs of awake time between end of their last nap and bed time) 15-18 months: Your little one may drop their morning nap around this age; therefore bed time is around 4 hours after last nap and before bed time. 18 months- 2 years: 1 nap and bed time is around 4.5 hrs after nap ends. 2-3 years 5.5 hours, before and after nap. #babysleep #sleephelp #sleeptips #happybaby #babyroutine #toddlerroutine #motherhoodjourney #mumlife #babysleepconsultant
