I love seeing everyone dressed to the nines in their outfits and being able to see so many friends in one day. While we are scattered throughout the park we are able to find each other by the mere magic of the day (and the meetup in the afternoon 😊) For this Dapper Day I was I found this dress and decided to make an Aurora/Sleepy Beaty gown. Sometimes it’s the lil accessories that make the outfit. This was one of those challenging days that I question why I do color for Inktober! Did I finally get it right? Day 20 with FROST! The iconic Matterhorn Bobsleds ride at Disneyland opened on June 14, 1959. Inspired by the real Matterhorn mountain in the Swiss Alps, it was the first roller coaster of its kind when it was built. The ride features two separate tracks that wind through a snowy landscape, complete with caves and encounters with the Abominable Snowman. Just a bit more Disney spam for you but this post is twofold… firstly it is to enter the incredible competition that @disneyparks are holding with their #HowDoYouDisney giveaway which I NEED to win and secondly, it’s to share my top tips for going to @disneylandparis with kids… 💫 Take a stroller per child, even if they don’t nap anymore. We averaged 25,000 steps per day and that’s a lot for little feet so out lightweight @ergobabyuk metro plus strollers were a godsend and could fold down to be a bag for getting on and off of transport. 💫 Be smart with queue lines. Use the app to favourite which rides you want to do and work through them from shortest to longest queue. When you get to the longer queues, either use premier access to skip the queue or go first thing, last thing or during parades. If a ride breaks down, hang around the entrance for a bit. This got us on Big Thunder Mountain in 5 minutes instead of 60! 💫 Make use of parent swap to be able to go on grown up rides without using too much valuable Disney time! It allows one parent to queue and do the ride on the single rider queue then swap with the other at the exit so they don’t have to queue at all! 💫 There is no premier access for Princess Pavillion and I never saw the queue below 120 minutes. We found a little ice cream parlour called Fantasia Gelati just outside it and as recommended by one of my lovely followers, we just waited there for all the princesses to walk by during their change over! 💫 Book character or princess dining at either Plaza Gardens or The Auberge and book early to avoid disappointment! We got Plaza gardens by chance due to a cancellation but missed out on Princess dining. 💫 Claim a spot for the illuminations at 9pm. Believe it or not, there were even people there before that!! We went into one of the alcoves around the main circle. We put picnic blankets down and had dinner there and the blankets meant that no one tried to enter our space. 💫 Take water bottles and squeeze squash and fill up around the park water fountains to save money 💫 Take it all in! I cried to many happy tears and have so many incredible memories.

I cried so many happy tears and we have made so many amazing memories. Seeing Bella’s little face light up was amazing and something that I will never forget! The next two posts are going to be about “must dos” and “top tips” for doing Disney with kids but I just wanted to share a few of our photos because believe me, there are lots of them!!! 💫

Well approximately 13 yards later I’ve got everything cut out. The extra fabric not seen in the last picture is the random extra that will be used for the internal ruffles for extra fluff. These are technically supposed to be tulle for the lightness and stiffness but that would require buying some which I’m not going to do so instead I just pulled out random extra homespun and cut it to approximate size it won’t be as stiff of a fluff but it holds more the the character I feel. Also I didn’t really follow directions because of different fabric widths then the pattern called for because of using only what I already had so we shall see how the fluff turns out. #whole30fabricchallenge #sewing #vintagedisneybound #sallyskellington #fabric #homespun

I had an event coming up and nothing to wear! The logical thing? Make a cosplay vintage style dress of course! Many of the other costubers have been doing historically accurate Disney Characters and I wanted in on the action but with my own personalized twist. I knew immediately I wanted to redesign Belle's yellow ballgown into a 1930s formal dress. I originally thought this might be the first time I work with silk but upon actually shopping for silk it was going to be way to expensive so I decided polyester would have to do. It ticked off another box for me because in my effort to deprogram the gatekeeping I had bought into over the years I wanted to give myself permission to sew with synthetics. Too often I thought I couldn't make an evening gown or anything fancier than day wear because I could not afford the expensive natural fibers needed to sew those costumes. While the fabrics frayed and were frustrating to work with and a serger would have been useful the french seams for the most part did their job. I do think the dress came out beautifully. I was nervous with the use of chiffon it was going to read too much Emma Watson and not enough of Disney's animated classic but honestly it is perfect! How should one dress to see Cruella? Well, I settled on black, red, and white. Of course, I had to wear my "reverse dalmatian" polka dot dress and throw on a mask and a fur, because why not? It's not quite Disneybounding, but a little more subtle of a tribute to the much maligned fashion queen and her color scheme. Still, I think Cruella would certainly approve.
