Long Exposure - Jacob's Ladder Beach, Seaton, East Devon I bought some ND filters recently and have been experimenting with long exposure shots of the sea. This is at Jacob's Ladder Beach in Sidmouth viewing west towards High Peak and Ladram Bay. Believe it or not it's in full colour but the sky was so grey everything appeared monochrome, but I kind of like the moodiness of the image. I almost got caught by the rising tide and had to climb over some rocks to avoid getting my feet wet! 13 second exposure at f20. Bluebells at National Trust Killerton, Devon I ventured out of Killerton's gardens into the clump and beyond in search of bluebells. However it's a little too early for them, I'd guess 1-2 weeks would be better, and ended up with no photos - not even at Bluebell Gate. So after traipsing about for miles I found myself back where I started and took some photos of the bluebells in the main garden, which were blooming nicely. This little walking loop through some very muddy fields and footpaths was worth it for the views of Cannington Viaduct. We then headed back to Uplyme via Cannington Lane, walking under the viaduct to see just how impressive it was close up.
The Seaton Tramway is a 3 mile (5 kilometre) tramway in East Devon built on a disused railway line. It goes from Seaton to Colyton using a variety of replica and vintage trams. In the Devon village of Colyford is this wonderful filling station built in the late 1920s and although they don’t work, it has these amazing antique petrol pumps.
