// ⚖️ 2024 is the year I started to question it all. Waking up from a death cult will do that to you. I don’t even know what was Judaism and what was Zionism. It all feels like Zionism to me. I feel sick when I think about my tzedakah (charity) being donated to plant trees on Palestinian land and murdering children, and how obsessively in love and proud I was of Israel. I suppose the majority of me believes that everything is random. But there is a tiny part of me that wonders if things really Do happen for a reason. I was raised in the Deep South in a southern Baptist church, and all those severe doctrines about sin and punishment and hell were forced on me from an early age. And it’s hard to completely shake them off. I don’t really believe in heaven or hell now: but perhaps I am curious about karma and things happening for a reason? Do I think my husband got brain cancer as some sort of punishment for him? No. As a punishment to me? (maybe?) My mind is weird. But on good days, I think “maybe this last part of my life will be better!” and then I wonder if I am being rewarded for something? Which is illogical. Whatever force would cause someone to get cancer so someone else would have a better life is horrible. So then I circle back to the concept that life is just random. Anyone else do this? Lord it’s tiring. Yep, one year ago today, and, yep, both times he’s giving me That Look. 1) “Are you? Taking pictures?!
