Lunch is packed for tomorrow. A spinach salad with cucumber, aged cheddar, blackberries, apple chunks, strawberries, and pecans. Tomorrow I will toss it with a Blackberry Ginger Balsalmic Vinegar from @evoolution104. Oatmeal bowls are prepped for breakfast and only require blueberries and milk to be added at time of cooking. Checked on the rhubard plants this evening. Both the Strawberry Rhubarb and the Victoria Rhubarb are growing well. The chickens seem to have spent most of today out of the weather elements. 🐔🥚. One of the benefits of raising chicks is you have approximately 50% roosters in your young flock. Many chicken keepers debate on what to do with all the extra roosters, because you only need I rooster for 7-12 hens depending on the breed. I had more than 50% roos this year (not many young pullets) and I have butchered the majority of them. Up at at em when the Roo’s crow…ya we have a few 😆 Really only 3 crow and take turns in a huddle as if seeing who has the biggest… They are actually pretty quiet and my internal alarm had me up. It’s a good thing though because we added the Bielefelders, the Orloff, the Crested Cream Legbar and TWG Roo to the coop last night and I wanted to be in bright and early to check on them. All was well, though there was some pecking until the coop door opened to the run. I enjoyed my Sunday morning coffee with the chickens in the sun in the run with the sounds of nature and quiet clucks. Very peaceful. We added OhLay our older laying hen to the run a bit later and that sure has everyone on their toes. I’ll be close by the coop today and we may have some pinless peepers returning for some. Some of the Roosters 🐔 are enjoying their last days before the freezer. I have been farm sitting for the Roy family for years! I always am so excited to go back and see some of my favorite animals ❤️ Pics 1 & 2 are of Pete the cat! He's a super cuddly boy who follows me around as I do my chores chatting away. He always has something to say! Pics 3 & 4 are of Birdie the Great Pyrenese pup! At least than 2 years old she has an abundance of puppy energy and loves to play fetch with her antlers. She's always up for a walk and is quite the character as you can see in Pic 4 😂 Pics 5, 6, & 7 are of sweet Winnie. She is my shadow whenever I stay! I have known her since she was a puppy and she is such a cuddle bug. She sleeps in bed with me and snuggles all night! Pics 8 & 9 are of Holly the dolly! She really is a doll. She has excellent manners and is so gentle and loveable. She sleeps right beside the bed all night and loves to be wherever you are. I've also known her since she was a young girl and she is now a wise old lady! Pic 10 is of one member of the chicken crew, mama Rita!
