'Rapture’ works in inspirational and evocative spaces, collaborating with superb people with audiences of all ages and backgrounds together. So much energy and love has been poured to the creation of the residency , we gather around fire we all had memorable and meaningful conversations around art, which most of it has been created from materials left behind after construction , questioning what does it mean to build a home a space in a site one chose , the unfinished spaces lending it self as a site both of creation and the possibilities of interaction with the work that gets to be housed , displayed , installed with in the space . Over a hundred tornadoes affected a large swath through several Great Plains and Midwestern states last week. The storms caused at least five fatalities and multiple injuries along with widespread property damage. Southern Oklahoma recorded the most severe activity, including an EF4 tornado. CERF+ is connecting with local partners on the ground to learn more about the needs of local artists and offer resources to craft artists who were affected by the storms. Becky Warnock @bxwarnock + the OOST Collective. ‘How’s the Weather in your Head?’ is an attempt by a group of diverse young people from across East London to visualise how feelings exist and manifest in the body. Connected by shared struggles with their mental health, the group explored photography as a way to understand and articulate their emotions. Through a process of play, the work builds a visual language of mental health, for when words don’t fit. This work was made as part of 2.8 Million Minds, led by artist the vacuum cleaner - which created a manifesto for mental health care for young people across London. 🥀🥀 What a week it’s been at the SUPERMARKET Independent Art Fair @supermarketart in Stockholm 🥀🥀 Our team at HALLE13 @halledreizehn came together to support the talented Alma Bektas @helikorija, and it was a truly enriching experience. The fair gave us a platform not just to showcase Alma’s work, but also to connect with an inspiring mix of artist-run galleries, nomadic communities, and project spaces. At HALLE13, we’re all about pushing forward with an artist-led vision, and it was fantastic to share this space with so many who are rewriting the usual rules of the art world. We made some great new connections and friends from all over, which just goes to show that even in a challenging environment, there’s a huge community out there looking to support one another and innovate. Let’s not shy away from acknowledging the difficulties and frustrations that can come with normative approaches to the art world. This week has strengthened our resolve to keep exploring and advocating for alternative ways to run galleries. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and engaged with us. #behindthescenes Creating a course. I start from my accumulated experience and then build what's in my head into a presentation in Canva. I use Canva so much that I got a shout-out from them for creating however many umpteen trillion designs. Each course is 1 design. I then record the videos and edit each one before uploading it to Vimeo and then linking to the Lounge. I create worksheets and resources and whatever else is needed. Writing a course takes me forever (especially when there was a house tear down and construction outside my window for months...but that's another story). So far I have created about 30 courses (and at least 12 free workshops or webinars and over 30 coaching call slide packs and thousands of social media posts, course graphics, ad graphics, free downloadable guides and whatever else - it could be more 🤷🏻♀️I don't actually keep count). All the ads are telling me I should use AI to write my courses. That I should write and sell my course in 7 days and start making a fortune. It's funny what the ads claim. When it comes to art-specific content, I haven't met any AI yet that can put my decades of experience as an artist and my coaching experience into a course. In conjunction with our new exhibition ‘Full House’ which opens next week, we invite you to re/discover the twenty-two exhibiting artists one by one over the coming days. We begin this series with London-based artist Salomé Wu who recently studied an MA in Painting the Royal College of Art.
