After along day of driving we settled at the Tavern Humble Sea Brewing, located in Pacifica, CA for a the best hops served on tap.🍻 We enjoyed the popular burger and fries🍔👌 This place has the right vibe🤙 “The Humble Values: Kooky, Humble, Innovative, Righteous, Accepting.” They formed the perfect brew “ascended upwards and into billowy fog of soft water profiles and Southern Hemispheric aromas.”🍻 After enjoying some tasty food & beverages we decided to stay a while longer to play their weekly night music trivia! Tule Elk Fenced at Point Reyes National Seashore, California, USA Part Two My last post covered some of the history of Tule Elk at Point Reyes from near extinction to significant recovery. Now, these elk are threatened once again. Tule elk are now rapidly and needlessly dying within Point Reyes National Seashore and the Phillip Burton Wilderness due to National Park Service (NPS) mismanagement. Incredibly, the NPS currently has the largest Tule elk herd at Point Reyes fenced into an enclosure at Tomales Point in the Phillip Burton Wilderness. This is because the NPS prioritized the nearly 6,000 private cattle that continue to graze within the national seashore, decades after the government paid fair market value to acquire private ranches and end livestock grazing there. Some 28,000 acres of public land at Point Reyes continues to be grazed despite the original agreement to end this commercial use. Fortunately, thanks in part to public outcry by Wilderness Watch and their supporters, in 2023 the NPS proposed a new direction. The plan is to remove the fence and allow Tule elk to naturally roam in the Wilderness and across Tomales Point as they previously did for centuries. But it’s not a done deal, and the NPS will undoubtedly face pressure from the influential ranching industry to keep the fence up and limit Tule elk numbers.
