When the sun comes out so do the bees... 🐝 What a glorious day for #WorldBeeDay ! I've spent some mindful minutes this afternoon admiring the pollinators in my garden. There were none in the shade and lots buzzing around the flowers in the bright sunshine. I was a bit surprised (and concerned) to only see three types including a honey bee. Seeing a honey bee always lifts my mood as it reassures me there are honey bees still around (but sadly not many different types). Today's favourite bee was the striking Ashy mining bee with its monochrome stripes. I don't know what it was until I looked it up (I'll put a guide to bees in the comments). If you love bees, then why not do a monthly 'BeeWalk' for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust? Find a route near home and walk it each month, reporting what you see. 🍃🪻 Bee Watching 🪻🍃 Just what my soul needed today. A few different bees about. I couldn't catch the blue banded bees. They seem to know you want to take their photo now and buzz off. 🤭😂 To be honest, I lost all interest in my garden over January and February. My mind was elsewhere, and I had a lot to deal with. I feel like I've been drifting the last month. The struggle of getting my blood sugar under control. There is so much confusing information out there. I also had a sore that was like the one I had in 2020, which the biopsy came back as a rare illness/cancer. It has finally healed. I'll share that story another day. Everyone bombarding me with "should" and "have to." Everyone is different. What works for some doesn't necessarily work for others. I've found that eating 5 small meals at regular intervals and between 9am and 6pm is best for me. My levels have been between 6 and 8 the last few days. I've also lost another 3 kilos by switching to low-fat milk, yoghurt, and cheese. Everyone keeps telling me to stick with full fat. People say no fruits, but when I eat Rockmelon and Berries, my sugars are always under 7.8. From here on, I'm making decisions on how I feel, the results I'm getting, and that's it. The stress from all the information, others telling me what to eat, and other people's opinions who don't understand it have made it worse. I dread checking my levels twice a day. It depresses me if they go over 9. Testing my 5 small meals a day with low fat options and adding some fruits. Plus, a daily exercise routine. I'm happy with the 7.8 and 7.5 readings. I found my little weight set and will be adding that to my routine. I'm listening to my intuition and my body from now on. I'm not discussing it with anyone other than my naturopath and GP. Gardening passion has been reignited today. I'm looking forward to the cool change next week. A trip to Bunnings is planned. Pots of colour will be my Easter and early birthday gift. Today’s sun has me thinking… It’s soon time to be drawing and watching bees again. I love remembering my experiences with them. I can spend time with one or more individuals for a while, as they gather pollen. Then when one flies away he’s almost always replaced by another. Especially if I hang out near the “sweet spot.” Some will let me get quite close, and may even allow a caress. It’s lovely to recognize that they have different personalities and tolerances to my presence.
