Maybe I've been seeing some benefits of not having a few wines every couple of nights.. Maybe I'm seeing some healthy mindset changes and have been utilizing healthier options to keep myself busy at those times I want to pour a glass.. Whether Im rewarding myself on achievements during the day, the kids have tested my patience, I'm using wine as an emotional crutch.. Or just feel like having a glass while cooking dinner to relax! Either way, I'm not saying I'm giving up alcohol so don't hold your breath. But I think I will do more dry months this year... I keep my hands and mouth busy by eating nuts at night, not the hairy kind. (Mind out of the gutter) Pistachios have become my new, expensive addiction. Plus, they lower the blood sugar and help promote a healthy heart. I've also swam in the pool at night time (20 laps last night) Keeping myself occupied. Much to my delight, I wrote a kick ass poem (I reckon my best yet) when I went to shut my eyes to join Dreamy Land. Are we on a crossroad? Today I struggle, a lot of questions, confusion, pain that I held up for years. Not a sad story, but sometimes you need to face facts, so I went outside and walked for a few hours. That was painful in itself, I walked this area so many times with my Luka 🐾 and I miss him, and where I once walked and swam with him surrounded by wildflowers and trees are houses now. I don't want to face it, I don't want to see how houses ruined our little paradise. But it's here and Luka and Marley🐾 are not, I have to face the fact that I can cherish the many, many beautiful memories of them, but with time passing things change. I had to face the fact that a long time ago God gave me a promise, and like Joseph told his brothers (Genesis 37), I told people my dream too soon, told it to the wrong people. It caused years of trouble and deep, deep pain, because God didn't let me go. I gave him my 'yes' and he held me to it until this day. The promise in itself is beautiful, the road I walked was difficult and for some part I caused it myself. Time passed, things changed, people changed, I asked God many times if what he promised was still in place that he held me so strongly to it and he confirmed again and again. But I have to step to it, catch up with time and that causes a bit of confusion, a lot of questions and replacing old views for new ones. A bittersweet evening. Last official fireside with our Harv's Air family, with 16 staff and students joining us. And on our final night, we still added 3 new countries: Greece, New Zealand and China. Happy Friday!!! Definitely put the work in this afternoon. Working like crazy, but still managed to hit that 4:40 am run, and an after workday arm blast. Saw a tutorial on banded drag curls, so I gave them a try. I WILL be adding these to my arm days because it finished me off. Time to feed and reflect on the day. Something is in my head pushing me to broaden my scope of things, because I’m definitely not where I want to be in life yet. Work is good, life is good, finances are good(ish) if the inflation would back off, haha!! This girl. She has taught me so much. I feel like a lot of our most recent posts have been me saying what I’ve learned from her. Here’s another one. Every animal comes into our life for a reason, a purpose, and with a lesson(s) to teach us. I was young and so blind to so many thing 11 years ago when I first met this beautiful girl. I knew I loved horses. I knew something in my soul told me she was the one when I set my eyes on her. I knew I’d learn a lot with and from her. What I didn’t know what just how much I’d learn FROM her. How much I’d learn along side of her. But something I had then that I’ll happily/proudly say is the same is the willingness to learn. I never knew originally how much I’d learn and grow as a horse person, as a rider, and in myself. Over the years I’ve met numerous people because of her. I’ve learned from so many of them countless different things. The biggest underlying lesson I’ve learned from all that have come into my life because of her is to trust in myself, trust in what I see, trust in what I’m hearing. Even when what I’m hearing isn’t audible to those around me. That hearing can also be described in the sense of a feeling, in the sense of something I think randomly at a point that “doesn’t make sense” or have ”any connection” to anything, or in the sense of connecting a random dot to what seems like another random dot. Slowly putting together what I feel is like what she knew all along I’d get to. She just knew it would be a road full of questions, doubts, concerns, and hard lessons before finding the path I think is the right one for all of us (her, my other animals, my future animals, and maybe most importantly myself). The gratitude I have for this beautiful, sweet, sassy, perfect, prickly pear, loving, wild, and silly girl will never be something I can put into words. But I know she knows, and that’s all that matters to me. Trish Marchant Trish is a chartered electrical engineer and has worked in a variety of engineering environments including the water industry and healthcare estates. Her three boys were educated at the Maths School and Thomas Aveling, before all moving away for university and their careers, leaving Karen and her husband to build the latter part of their lives. “I am a regular local public transport user. A functional and affordable public transport infrastructure, which serves all current communities and is central to the planning of new ones, is top of my list of priorities”. Karen started a not-for-profit company in 2017, after over 25 years teaching in Medway. “We work with career changers, work returners, refugees and students and help people gain skills in coding and data. These skills are in demand and will make people attractive to a range of potential employers. Andrew Stephen Andrew is currently Chief Impact Officer for Foodsteps, a London based tech company that provides environmental impact data for food. He founded foodmadegood.org and oneplanetplate.org during his tenure as CEO of the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA). The SRA is a London based not for profit organisation that helps hospitality businesses make better decisions for the planet and for wildlife. Andrew has held board positions with the Zero Carbon Forum and WRAPs Courtauld Commitment and is a Trustee of the London Wildlife Trust. The common thread between all these is the focus on addressing the climate and nature crisis through changing our food system.
