Day 21/29 Charles S. Lewis Baker (August 3, 1859 – May 5, 1926) was an American inventor who patented the friction heater. Baker was born into slavery on August 3, 1859, in Savannah, Missouri. His mother, Betsy Mackay, died when he was three months old, leaving him to be brought up by the wife of his owner, Sallie Mackay, and his father, Abraham Baker.He was the youngest of five children, Susie, Peter, Annie, and Ellen, all of whom were freed after the Civil War. Baker later received an education at Franklin College. His father was employed as an express agent, and once Baker turned fifteen, he became his assistant. Baker worked with wagons and linchpins, which sparked an interest in mechanical sciences. Baker worked over the span of decades on his product, attempting several different forms of friction, including rubbing two bricks together mechanically, as well as using various types of metals. After twenty-three years, the invention was perfected in the form of two metal cylinders, one inside of the other, with a spinning core in the center made of wood, that produced the friction. Baker started a business with several other men to manufacture the heater. The Friction Heat & Boiler Company was established in 1904, in St. Joseph, with Baker on the board of directors. El fugitivo Jesse Pinkman huye de sus captores, de la ley y del pasado. Habiendo terminado hace poco las 5 temporadas de Breaking Bad, decidí ver esta película. Si bien me gustó, no entendí bien el porqué se hizo esta película, si se tomó como excusa para darle un cierre a ciertos personajes o sólo fue aprovechar el gran éxito de la serie para sacar una película. Y no se muy bien si alguien que no vio la serie, pueda entender la mayoría de los puntos o guiños o entender a los personajes de esta película, porque verdaderamente hay que ver Breaking Bad para saber quien es quien. Me parece muy jugado hacer lo que hicieron. Esta película trata sobre Jesse y lo que le sucedió inmediatamente después de los eventos de Breaking Bad, además de brindarnos más información sobre lo mal que lo trataron mientras estaba cautivo por el tío Jack y la pandilla neonazi. El último episodio de Breaking Bad pareció redondear las cosas. Especialmente cuando se trataba de Walter White. ¿Y qué era Breaking Bad sino un programa sobre un maestro que se convirtió en un villano más grande que la vida? Bueno, Aaron Paul tenía algo que decir al respecto. A mi me gustó. Y si bien sigo pensando que fue innecesaria la idea de hacer una película, debo confesar que me gustó. The Neon Demon ● Raramente ad un film do 2 voti, ma in questo caso devo per forza farlo poiché col tempo la mia idea e visione del film è cambiata, quindi non potevo parlarne con la visione che avevo quando uscì. Il film di cui parlerò oggi è “The Neon Demon” è un film del 2016 scritto e diretto da Nicolas Winding Refn. ● Il regista ha successivamente affermato di aver tratto l'ispirazione per il film dalla figura di Elizabeth Báthory, nonché dalla volontà di incentrare un film su donne violente dopo aver girato innumerevoli opere incentrate su uomini feroci. Il regista ha inoltre dichiarato che l'ispirazione nel creare un film horror sul concetto di bellezza gli è venuta in mente pensando al fatto che sua moglie fosse nata, a differenza sua, con questa innata caratteristica, e di considerare quanto raccontato una sorta di "fiaba per adulti". ● La prima impressione che ebbi fu che si trattasse di una ciofeca senza eguali, un vero prodotto da cestinare malamente, poi sono cresciuto e mi sono sforzato di aprire la mente, e ho capito meglio anche le scelte stilistiche, certo non le condivido, ma le comprendo. ● Ha partecipato in concorso al Festival di Cannes 2016, venendo accolta da alcuni con fischi ed urla e da altri con una standing ovation. Il film ha diviso la critica. ● Trama: Una giovane modella di sedici anni deve affrontare i soprusi di rivali aggressive e violente invidiose della sua estrema bellezza. ● Si tratta di un film per me difficile da affrontare, perché inizialmente lo ho odiato, poi ho cambiato un po’ idea. ● Fra le cose che preferisco ci sono la regia, la fotografia, le interpretazioni e la colonna sonora. ● In prima battuta o odiai, in seconda battuta l’ho rivalutato… vale la pena provare e riprovare a vederlo. ● Consiglio la visione, ma prima bisogna essere ben pronti e preparati, aperti di mente e di pancia, bisogna cercare di comprendere a fondo la visione del regista e le sue scelte. Voto 1: 4/10. Voto 2: 7/10.

Walt loses control, endangering his job and relationships; Hank throws himself into his investigation; Jesse has a new plan. Gus tries to lure Walt back into the business; Skyler doubts her new relationship; Marie is concerned for Hank's well-being. The seal has been broken. Walter White made his bed and now he lays in it. Our main characters are recovering from the trauma and consequences they endured the previous season. Walt attempts peddling backwards when Skyler is blackmailing him to leave the family alone or she’ll tell Hank about what he’s done all the while she’s having an affair. We all saw it coming but it hurts to see him struggle to recuperate the fractured relationships. Most of the pacing is slowed down but the good kind of slow that sets up rising tension to a boiling point. The Salamanca Twins are two ruthless “I’ll rest when you’re dead” archetype henchmen sent on Hank’s trail on hot pursuit. Great villains whom aren’t developed to the fullest extent yet deliver coldness. All episodes are written well, and yes, the Fly episode included. Not many events happen however it’s leaning on the character study side of Walt. Not wanting an inferior creature to outplay his ego. It’s also a depressing scene of him apologizing for Jane’s death and Jesse completely unaware of Walt’s indirect involvement. It’s such an underrated “filler” episode. Another phenomenal season once again, and it gets better from here on out. 9.5/10

Il Jesse Pinkman di El Camino è solo l'avatar del Jesse Pinkman della serie ed è riempito di semplice segatura. When danger and suspicion around Walt escalate, he is pushed to new levels of desperation. Just how much higher will the stakes rise? How far is Walt willing to go to ensure his family's security? Will his grand plan spiral out of control? Picks right up where the last season ends. Tuco kills one of his men and then later abducts them where we are introduced to the Hector Salamanca. However, after that plot thread concludes and Walt’s family raises suspicion about what he’s doing behind their backs and his disappearance, it slows down quite a bit. The story is one large setup for events that are later to come. A few episodes start off with a glimpse of debris falling from some wreckage we get clues on. Does it hold any significance to the overall story? Only what the result of Walt letting someone in particular choke on their vomit due to his own neck spared that’s pivotal for Jesse’s arc. Won’t say who but you know if you watch the show. It’s heart wrenching. There’s a wave of new characters such as the hitman Mike Ehrmantraut, corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman, and narcotics distributor Gustavo Fring are thrown into the mix that play prominent figures in later seasons. May just be the last season where you see Walter White actually cares for Jesse from time to time. It’s kind of a halfway house before things escalate further beyond return. Acting, cinematography, and character development is all on par if not greater than the season before and it keeps on trucking. Lowest in the series but it’s certainly important and emotional. 9/10
