I finally caught up on the rest of this show. I remember watching the first season in 2020 during the pandemic. I was watching everything and just finished the Babysitter movies on Netflix. Then I saw Robbie Amell starring in this show, which grabbed my attention. To try to sum it up, in the year 2033, there is a digital afterlife. People are "uploaded" to a digital retirement home. The show follows Amell as Nathan Brown, who dies in a car accident and is uploaded. He is still in contact with his family through technology. The setting and story are very original. But for the first several episodes, the characters and plots seemed basic, then the last episodes in the first season add more elements to the story, like was Nathan really in an accident or murdered? I don't want to give anymore away, though. Then, for the next seasons 2 and 3, I really got into the characters again and got into all the theories that were going on. Some parts seem political to me, but overall, this is really enjoyable. I like the humor and mystery involved. There will be a fourth and final coming soon, and I can't wait. 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS Directed by: Michael Lehmann Score: 6 First time watch This movie reminded me again that we’ve seen Josh Harnett for the longest time in the 2010’s. After a string of solid movies he kind of disappeared, and only did some C movies and series, just to reappear in 2 Guy Ritchie flicks and the latest Nolan movie. And that’s a shame because I always liked him, especially in LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN, BLACK HAWK DOWN, & SIN CITY. This movie from the same period was a bit on the lower end quality wise, but for a romcom it was at least a fun premise. that said, there are more memorable and better movies in the genre, but it’s solid enough for a good time. I’m a sucker for a good romcom, and this scratched a bit of that itch. We got the bed dances at the strip bar when the mushrooms were kicking in, mixed with the carpets and paulo messing around with my trip, it’s was quite the times.. Paulo also got those shrooms from Amsterdam. We had about 20 dudes sharing one room, all passed out at different times.. I took some uppers with me so I wouldn’t miss anything over the weekend. This was in the prime of my party days.. we went home in a private jet, fully loaded with food and drinks the whole gambit,. the movie the Hangover is ruffly based on our weekend their for Labor Day bachelor party. The guy who got married, his dad later bought into virgin air and was a board member. #141.Splinter (2008) "You are suffering from a severe case of CDS: Can't Do Shit!" How do you survive being hunted when you're packed like sardines with seemingly no escape? A young couple and an escaped convict are trapped in a gas station when a Splinter parasite that transforms its victims into killer hosts attacks them. Directed by Toby Wilkins, director of The Grudge 3, this has a From Dusk Til Dawn vibe with a couple criminals kidnapping a couple. I dig the idea of taking the gas station, usually relegated to the horror trope as a setting being where most of the film takes place. This helps keep it small and tight to increase the suspense and horror vibes. The cinematography is captured well with some killer shots. This is definitely a unique take and twist on zombies. The Splinters are kind of zombies, but kinda something else. The effects of the creatures are gruesomely terrifying in a 28 Days Later fast paced creature way and highly effective. The scene of the creature banging her head against the door over and over is a disturbing imagine that I'm sure will haunt my nightmares. There are disgustingly grotesque body horror moments and one really disturbing moment involving a limb separation. One of my favorite things about this is that it's characters not making wildly dumb decisions. That always turns one off in horror, even if it is a staple. Speaking of characters, oh shit my dude Paulo Costanzo aka Ax in Animorphs (deep cut I know) and the intelligent stoner Rubin in Road Trip playing the role of Seth, a solid intelligent dude who's scientific-like curiosity might be his downfall. Dennis is a criminal abusive douche. Shea Whigham handles the bad boy criminal vibes well and has some character development as the film goes on. Splinter is a solid creature feature that proves the age old adage: teamwork makes the dream work. 4.5/5

First time watch! This little horror gem is one I just recently found out while hunting. I’d never heard of it but it sounded really good, the monster seems pretty unique and I like the main star Shea Whigham. Обвиняемый Риз сыграл отлично парня, чья жизнь рушится прямо на глазах зрителя. Его трансформация из простого ученика в заключённого выглядит максимально естественно. Его прошлое и настоящее заставляет сомневаться в его честности и мотивации, режиссер так и норовит изменить отношение зрителей к нему и качает из стороны в сторону. Весь сериал заточен на темных сценах, вся картинка в основном окутана тенями и мраком. Ещё сильный упор сделан на визуальных контактах героев, окружающих и взглядах! Эти взгляды заставляют задуматься над настоящими эмоциями и тем, что же думает тот или иной персонаж. Оч крутой прием режиссёра. Детектив, чье экранное время не такое уж и большое, но являющееся серьезной деталью. Одновременно с судебным делом развиваются и судьбы главных действующих лиц. Адвокат борется со своей болезнью, Наз пытается выжить в тюрьме, отец Наза решает вопросы с работой, мать ищет работу, а детектив, который смирился с участью пенсионера и бросившего это дело, понимает всю важность его решений. И в итоге, мы получаем хороший сюжет, дополнительные линии развития, раскрывающие персонажей и их мотивы, хороший саундтрек и спокойно развивающиеся события. Все это вылилось в 8 серийную картину, которая смотрится на одном дыхании и максимально погружает в атмосферу! Сериал оставляет приятное послевкусие, а это одно из самых важных составляющих хорошей картины. Последние 5 минут сериала, посвящающие нас в судьбу героев после суда - классная концовка!
