I use magazines a lot: I cut out parts of photos, colours, letters and collage them, I use the ripped off covers between the pages of my sketchbook to catch stray glue and paint, and occasionally I read them. But to be in a magazine? My life’s dream* I’ve been in print a handful of times - two magazines (swipe to see my 2016 cover shot), one mini-book (thanks @maggie.grey!) and even one book cover (thank you @kimthittichai 🐠!) but they were all a while ago - so it was a lovely surprise to be asked if my work could feature in a blog post on the @montmarteart website. Not a magazine, but I think it counts?! Another behind the scenes look at THIS IS A TINY FRAGILE SNAKE. I was at a loss for an actual pushmower to use as reference for this illustration and wasn’t about to go out and buy one. The mower had to be seen from a low angle, so it wasn’t something I could easily find in a google image search either. That’s where 3D software came to save the day. 🤖 Kevin purchased this push mower asset online and repositioned it for me matching the perspective of my sketch. I then traced and re-collaged the mower, like I would any other drawing.
