SATURDAY JAN 21, 2017 is a day I will never forget!!! I suffered a stroke while teaching a fitness class…acute left MCA and bilateral ACA territory infarcts. 3 clots to be exact! I had no risk factors and I was only 42 years old! On the ride in the ambulance I knew I had a long road ahead of me. I could not speak and I had right sided hemiplegia. In layman’s terms I couldn’t move the entire right side of my body. I felt trapped inside my own mind since words were there but I could not speak. Today marked exactly 5 years!!! Today I taught Body Pump & Zumba to some of the same people who were there during my stroke! We celebrated LIFE! Members of Goodlife Sherwood Park are like family to me! We have been through some “stuff” together 😜! Every fitness experience we have together I cherish! I never take that for granted 🥰 I worked hard on this road to make a recovery for my participants. You guys gave me strength to not give up. We change lives in our little group fitness studio! We have fun, we sweat, we challenge ourselves! I enjoy every moment because I am ALIVE! Step into the dance floor. Did you know dance is my cardio? I love to get my heart pumping with a nice beat. I shake, I move, sliding in and out of my shoes to feel the vibrating earth. It makes me feel alive, safe, and apart of something. To feel the energy of people around you all dancing to the same beat. I always liked dancing- fun fact. I used to work as a club promoter in Hollywood in my 20’s. So I basically got paid to party. I could tell you some stories! Been to some amazing after parties in the hills and I met a lot of famous people. So whenever I get a chance to dance 💃🏻 you better believe I am twirling around that dance floor!

Here we go again! The absolutely stunning @mel.limhow_aerials decided wisely that the eastern suburbs were severely lacking a place for divas to play, and so she has recently opened a fabulous @pole.divas @aerialdivas studio in Ringwood right near my office - how on earth was I supposed to pass up the chance to dance again? My grip strength is nothing and my fitness/strength in general is woeful in the post Covid world, but with adjustable hoops (so I can practice tricks without ripping my hands and knees too badly) and my ‘cheerleading’ instructors for this term - Mel (get it, cause of this song and she’s cheering us on in the background 😂😉), @denisenicole0508 and @regggpml I’m sure I will get back to where I was (and even further) eventually!
