Current obsession: Devil Story, by Bernard Launois, 1986. I've watched it several times. It's both extremely boring and exciting. It's both creative and cliched. It's like a deranged 10 year old made a movie with an actual cast and crew. To be honest, I don't really understand why it's gripped me so strongly. It is by no definition a good movie. It is, in fact, in many ways, a very bad movie.And it is also wonderful. If you told me you love this movie, I would say we should be best friends. if you told me you hate this movie, I would completely understand ,and we could still be very good friends. Il Etait Une Fois Le Diable (aka Devil Story) PAUL PIOT / MICHEL ROY ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Devil Story is classified as one of the worst films ever made, and rightly so, it's hard not to burst out laughing at the resultof the film. Over the years, it has become a cult favorite, and a veritable object of divinity for some. As a big fan of all kinds of nanars, I needed the soundtrack and its musical gimmick, which will stay with you for a long time after you've seen the film :) Specific Bis has released this little gem on vinyl in a clear pressing with absolutely perfect sound. It's a shame the "monster" grunts aren't there, but that's no problem - just watch the film again and again :) The Blu ray released in Europe by Pulse is identical to the Vinegar Syndrome edition, which is excellent. Enjoy, laughter is good for your health :D

These are both things Devil Story does not have. 😮 Then we jump back and forth between present day and ancient mummy times. We also jump back and forth between color and black and white. Buenas!!! Hoy quiero comentar este maravilloso libro: Haunted Ireland, de Tarquin Blake. Yo creo que a estas alturas ya se sabe que adoro Irlanda y la mitología, sobre todo si da algo de yuyu, así que este libro me encanta. Leyendas, fotos de las localizaciones, muchas a doble página, algún que otro mapa, versiones investigadas legendaria e históricamente hablando... Se puede pedir más? Sí, una segunda parte 😝. He sacado una foto del índice para que podáis ver qué leyendas contiene. Otra cosa que me gusta de este libro es que no se limita a los fantasmas, también habla de sirenas, vampiros, hombres lobo, brujas, hadas... Lo malo es que también habla de Leap Castle y el Hellfire Club, dos temas que ya tengo muy vistos. No sé porqué el último despierta tantas pasiones, cuando solo se trataba de un grupo de niños de papá que se dedicaban a quemar gatos y a matar gente. No entiendo cómo han podido trascender tanto. Érase una Vez el Diablo (Bernard Launois, 1985). Una pareja pasa una noche de tormenta en un caserón cercano al mar debido a la avería de su coche. Allí les contarán una historia de que hace años unos lugareños hacían que los barcos chocaran contra la costa para quedarse con todo el botín. Será el principio de una noche de pesadilla. Una de las películas más extrañas que he visto en mi vida, filmada casi sin presupuesto, un ritmo desquiciante y poquísimas líneas de diálogo. Deformes asesinos, animales malditos, una momia y su novia zombie y un viejo que se pasa disparando a la nada durante buena parte del metraje son algunos de los rasgos de esta peli, que tiene un buen comienzo y aceptables efectos de maquillaje pero que luego se va por las ramas de forma desconcertante. Con todo, es una rara avis que merece ser vista. Day 303 Day off, slept in super late & decided to make myself a heavy but delicious breakfast 😋 2 breakfast burgers (lightly toasted buns, mayo, ketchup, Tabasco, slices of grilled turkey breast, beef patty, American cheese & a fried egg) with a side of grilled & sliced hot dogs 😏 yea... maybe I over did it but it was DELICIOUS 🥰 Then took a big ol' nap 😅 Once I woke up & shook off that confusion of the day, I settled in for a nice little #doublefeature from the purchase pile 👀 Scared To Death is an interesting creature feature set in Los Angeles (mostly Pasadena & surrounding area). It's pacing.... is deliberate & it keeps the monster in the shadows for most of the time. It looks cool in that old school rubber suit way. The making of Doc on this release is more entertaining & it comes with a directors cut that is slightly different & has a different restoration. Overall a cool release 💙 Devil Story..... W T F!!! If the pace of the last movie was deliberate, this one's moves like MOLASSES 😬 76 minutes long & could easily, EASILY have 20 minutes trimmed off it! It's a piece of work with some fun moments but it's full-on fever dream, nightmare logic. Some cool fx but some scenes that need a leap of faith like a head injury by a horse when the horse never even gets within a few feet to make contact 😅 Also, the ending.... HOLY SH*T THE ENDING! Yesterday was a camp movie day with my friends and a lots of beer. This is a regular thing, happening usually least twice a year to enjoy the latest movies that have found their way to a bluray from VHS. "Santo vs. Dr. Death" was just okay and could have been better if it had more of Santo and a less dialogue/exposition. "Devil Story" I've seen before and I wanted to show this baffled mess from France to my friends. It have to be seen to be believed. "Unmasking the Idol" didn't met my high expectations, but this odd James Bond with ninjas rip off least had a baboon throwing shurikens. "Hard Ticket to Hawaii" was chosen for the last movie because we wanted one sure camp classic since the other movies didn't quite rise to that level.
