NO.6 CINEMA UPDATE Loyal regulars will be aware that we have had a few technical issues with some of our screenings recently. We have been working to resolve these, and have been pleased that our most recent showings, including lengthy films like Dune: Part 2 and Apocalypse Now, have worked okay. But we feel it’s unfair on you to be crossing our fingers and hoping, we’d rather get things sorted properly. The plan is to close for the next two weeks and hopefully return on Thursday 9th May. All being well, our plan is to return on Thursday 9th May with a matinee showing of the much-loved Ealing classic The Lavender Hill Mob! On Friday 10th May, we’ll celebrate the coming of ComicCon to Portsmouth over the weekend with a special showing of the 1966 Batman: The Movie, with Adam West, Burt Ward and an indecent amount of camp. The rest of the month will include another Greatest Film Of All Time: Easy Rider no less (on Friday 17th), as well as Scorsese’s brilliant and under-rated comedy cult classic After Hours (on Friday 24th) and the much anticipated Amy Winehouse biopic Back To Black (on Saturday 11th and matinee on Thursday 30th) along with many other gems of independent, world and popular cinema, as detailed on the website. With the current closure, and while still in the process of confirming the reopening date, we are not presently taking bookings online. Please check the No.6 website, subsequent editions of this newsletter, and our social media channels, for updates on reopening including when we’ll be taking advance ticket bookings again. And finally - a quiz! As our very last act before the Summer break, we will host our special ‘A Year In Film’ Quiz, which also doubles as a No.6 fundraiser to help us restart in the Autumn in fine style.
