Yesterday we took Marshall on a lake adventure! We’ve gone on plenty of walks near water, but our goal is to get him comfortable in water this summer - more than just the bathtub. He was super nervous and the cold water didn’t t help. I have to remind myself how hard it would be to step into ice cold water when you are blind. His trust in @soph_iewallace led him farther in and eventually we got him on the paddle board. It took him about 30 min in her lap and then he settled in, stood up, walked around the board and even leaned over the edge for a drink! First time paddle boarding and I had my nephew on with me 🙈 my sister must have had a lot more faith in me than I had in myself.... he had to constantly remind me what way round to have the paddle 🙈 give me directions and tell me when to change sides 😂....im certainly not a natural and my goodness is it a workout for the arms but i found it better than kayaking. I was able to change positions regularly which definitely helps. My first time paddle boarding 😆 This year I decided I wouldn't let fear and anxiety stop myself from trying new things and doing things I wanted to do. I'm really proud of myself for doing this for many reasons, it was out of my comfort zone and I absolutely loved it. I could have easily talked myself out of trying it but then I wouldn't have had a brill time. I could have probably waited a month or two rather than choosing winter to have a go but I didn't fall in 😂 . S U P Up until a few hours ago I was a SUP virgin. How much fun is it? Under the brilliant guidance of the fab @debsenfys we got going .. oh yeah, after the bit where Debbie couldn’t work out why her board was going round and round .. she only had it facing the wrong way 🤣 Anyhoo .. kneeling down first we paddled upstream .. the Charente is such a magnificent river certainly in this area .. then we turned around and went downstream way past our entry point .. feeling more tuned in and confident I stood up. And paddled that way all the way back. Naturally I had a dook in the gorgeous cooling waters .. with the biggest smile on my face! What an adventure I’ve had today.
