L'occasion aussi pour moi de revenir sur ce que j'ai appris lors de ces 30 années de vie, et de vous le partager. - Je ne peux pas constamment essayer de protéger tout le monde. Ce n'est pas mon rôle et je n'en ai pas le pouvoir. - Mon bien-être personnel doit passer en priorité. - Je ne dois pas taire mes besoins pour m'adapter et faire plaisir aux autres. - Je ne suis pas moins "douée" que les autres. Je mérite tout autant. - Je dois laisser partir ce qui est néfaste pour moi, même si ça me fait mal. - Tout recommencer à zéro n'est pas une défaite, c'est une preuve de courage. - La douleur s'atténue avec le temps. - Demander de l'aide n'est pas une honte, bien au contraire. - Nous évoluons constamment et ce n'est pas grave de changer. - Échouer ce n'est pas définitif, on peut toujours rebondir. - Une relation déséquilibrée ne fonctionnera pas. 📍The ensemble on display takes us to present-day Poland, to the city of Zakopane, located on the border with Slovakia. The objects were bought by the #museum in 1909. At that time, Zakopane had been part of the Habsburg Monarchy – belonging to the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria – since the first Partition of Poland in 1772. 📖 According to the inventory book, the ensemble is a complete "Goral costume". Currently, 5 of the 6 items can be found. The missing trousers are described in the inventory book as richly decorated with colourful embroidery on the thigh made from heavy white loden cloth. 👉 The 5 present pieces are listed as doublet, greatcoat, felt hat, leather strap and cuff shoes (In the German original: Wams, Überrock, Filzhut, Leibriemen und Bundschuhe). An interesting choice of words! 🔎 The term "doublet" was used here for the colourfully embroidered gilet made of lambskin with leather appliqués. At the beginning of the 20th century this term was no longer in use for everyday but only for medieval and early modern garments. The term "greatcoat" in this case refers to the white, embroidered loden jacket with edged hems. The German term Leibriemen is another word for a belt. This belt with embossed patterns is fitted with a buckle and decorated with a kind of button with a double-headed eagle. ℹ️ In our article from the February 21st, 2021, we already dealt with a "goral costume for women". In that post, we discussed the word "goral" in more detail and categorised it geographically. Today we are exploring the etymology of the term: It comes from the Polish word "góra", which means mountain.
