at my worst, I tried to do *everything* by myself and hide how much I was struggling with it 👇🏼 I felt like I was unworthy of support and didn’t need it… I also didn’t even have the language for how to ask for support or help 🥹 I kept plowing through, feeling more overwhelmed, exhausted, and stuck each day 😮💨 it took me hitting rock bottom (literally sleeping in my car with my dog after leaving my abusive marriage) to finally ask for help 🙌🏼 when I was vulnerable with how overwhelmed I was and how much I was secretly struggling… I received an outpouring of support from friends, co-workers, my brother, and my aunt, uncle and cousins 💖 I realized that I didn’t have to pretend like everything was ok when it wasn’t 🥰 and that my perfectionism was holding me back from getting the support that I truly needed 😮💨 and I’ve been getting support for what I need ever since 💖 today, I have A LOT of support both personally and within my work.. Couldn’t decide on dinner but ended up at A&W since it was such a nice night out. I had heard they had a new Strawberry Watermelon Cream Freeze so figured I would give it a try. My first sip I was getting Go-Gurt vibes, but after a few, I was into it. I liked the tartness of the strawberries with the sweetness of the watermelon. There were little pieces of real strawberries that I enjoyed. Also, the Starry gave it just a hint of carbonation. It was pretty darn good … I mean, I finished it so that’s saying something! Em Seattle, exploramos o centro da cidade e o Mercado Público de Pikes Place, além de saborear a culinária local, como no pub alemão Feierabend. Uma das paradas mais marcantes foi nas Cataratas de Snoqualamie, uma caminhada desafiadora, mas recompensadora. A paz e a beleza da natureza nos cercavam, longe do barulho e das distrações da cidade. O Parque Nacional Olímpico nos recebeu com suas paisagens deslumbrantes, incluindo o Wynoochee Lake Shore Campground, onde acampamos. Mesmo com contratempos, como a estrada de terra, cada momento valeu a pena. Seguimos nossa jornada até La Push, uma península encantadora, e visitamos Ruby Beach, embora rapidamente. A fome nos levou de volta ao acampamento, mas as memórias vívidas daquele dia continuam em minha mente. Dias nebulosos e enevoados, longe da tecnologia, nos lembraram o quão pequenos somos diante da natureza. Essa viagem de duas semanas de Washington a São Francisco foi cheia de aventuras e momentos marcantes, e mal posso esperar para compartilhar mais em meus próximos blogs. Our Autonomic Nervous System is wise, and adaptive. It learned early on all the ways to keep us safe from danger and threat. Our stress responses can look like fight, flight freeze or fawn. Edit: Fight- when the ANS perceives that it can actively do something to defend itself against the threat, through action and control. Flight- when our ANS believes the safest way to handle the threat is to run away from it, to avoid. Freeze- when our ANS doesn’t feel it can run away from or fight the threat, it shuts down, it can look like numbing out, dissasociating, or disconnecting. Fawn- when our ANS feels safest when we appease and please others, and need their connection/approval or recognition in the face of stress or danger. We might internalize responsibility and appease those around us. The beauty of it all, is that these were early survival mechanisms to keep us safe; there’s nothing wrong with us.
