Hello, loves! 👋🏾🌀👉🏾Gorgeous 7 mile hike thru a bit of the PioneerTown Mountains Reserve! We set out a 7 am, the only hiker signed in since the day before, no one in sight and no one on the trail the whole way -🐍except a rattlesnake which told us to “mind our own business!!!” And so we did or I did, luckily Khaya didn’t notice! 😅 My cousin (who is a a Vet) told me Golden Retrievers are notoriously resistant to Aversion Training for rattlesnakes and vipers, the other dogs eventually get it but Goldens keep coming back to check that sound out! 😝 Curiosity and good humor bred into them so thoroughly they are oblivious to the danger, I might resemble those traits as well! 🌀 Khaya used to get the vaccine for snake bites but my cousin also told me it’s based on a green viper of a type she wouldn’t run into where we live and travel so the idea that it might really help in the case of rattlesnake venom hasn’t been proven…my friend @nec.pics taught me not to be scared of rattlesnakes when I moved to the mountains above Cloverdale where they flourish, thankful for her wisdom and guidance as I heard it’s rattle! One thing I need to do is to buy a dog sling - if Khaya is hurt on the trail, that will allow me to carry her back with an injury. It got me thinking about how we confront our fears, how those fears can sometimes attract multiple opportunities to process them or stay committed to them. What fears have you confronted today?
