This is the after picture with my best friend in my most favorite lounge with one of my most favorite drinks. The story: On Podcast Episode 29 the one about Bluey we talk about the many reason we love Bluey. At one point we specifically discuss "baby races". In this episode there is a magical mom moment. This is where one mom helps or gives advice to another mom. During this episode I talk about my "Disney" Mom Moment, while dining at the California Grill with our best friend and the "bad" mom moment I had with Lincoln. (Listen to the episode for the story) Seeing me try to hide what wanted to be a very ugly cry a Disney mom comes over pulls me into the most magical hug and tells me "I'm a good mom and I got this" that all moms have moments like this and it won't be the last. To this day I still wish I got that mom's name. The story does continue and The part of the story I didn't tell was when we continued our night after the little dude fell asleep in the stroller at Top of the world lounge. We met long time DVC members that yet again told me that Matt and I were good parents and that we were going to make 100s of memories with Disney. They didn't know how right they were. Bluey is so much more than a kids show on Disney jr. I describe it during the pod as a therapy. The characters of Bluey make you feel as if you aren't going through life alone. It's relatable. I referred to my experience At California Grill as my Chili moment. Chili in baby races had a very similar magical mom moment. The lesson.. we are all doing the best we can with what we have. 😤 Ik had er weer eentje te pakken hoor vanochtend. Een mega huilbui gevolgd door een woede aanval gevolgd door een huilbui. School is weer begonnen dus we moeten weer in het gareel en dat vraagt altijd wat schakeltijd. Ineens geen tijd voor eindeloze pyjamadagen en weer volle hoofden aan het eind van de dag en dat zorgt bijna altijd voor verdriet en boosheid in die eerste paar dagen. ♥️ Ik moet dan altijd even schakelen en zorgen dat ik niet ook boos wordt vanwege het in mijn ogen onredelijke gedrag. Inmiddels herken ik gelukkig het patroon en weet dat ik dat ik beter even mee kan in de tranen. Even stevig mag knuffelen en alle andere ‘belangrijke’ dingen voor die dag maar iets langer op zich moeten laten wachten. Want hoe meer ik mij er tegen verzet hoe groter de weerstand is die ik ervaar. 💕 Dus ja, vanochtend gingen we er weer voor. Ik moest de trein halen en had haast maar besloot de tranen maar gewoon te verwelkomen en flink veel te knuffelen. Twee treinen later ben ik eindelijk op weg. 💙We lovingly refer to Matt (and husbands in general) as the pack mule. They carry the bags while we continue to shop. Besides bags often they can be seen with children on their shoulders while exploring new lands or holding strollers while on Disney transportation. When we discussed 10 things to bring to Disney World, we specifically mentioned a good backpack🎒 with compartments and places to attach other items. Matt's backpack always has something attached, from shopping bags to rain ponchos to Lincoln's Ironman gloves. You never know what we will attach to him next. 💪Besides a good backpack, dads (and moms) need to pack their strength (I'm pulling from Josh Avery's abstract Ideas with this one.) Encourage greatness 💖 Mijn woorden voor 2024. Sinds ik deze woorden (in Napoleon) hoorde gonzen ze elke dag door mijn hoofd. Encourage Greatness 🪄 Wat als ik dat nou zou doen? Hoe zou dat eruit zien? Wat is greatness eigenlijk? En hoe kan je dat aanmoedigen? Welke rol speel ik daarin voor mijn omgeving? Mijn man, mijn kinderen, mijn familie en vrienden, mijn collega’s? Doe ik dit dan? Encourage ik hen in het laten zien, ervaren, groeien van hun greatness? Volgens mij kan ik dat veel explicieter en actiever doen. En vooral ook voor mijzelf? Zoek ik dit in mijzelf op? Geloof ik in mijn eigen grote en kleine greatness of benadruk ik vooral wat er niet goed gaat, waar ik nog niet ben of wat ik nog niet kan? De vraag stellen is hem beantwoorden dus tja… 😉 Werk aan de winkel! Vanaf nu ga ik voor Encourage Greatness. Ik schijn mijn licht op de kleine en grote greatness van mijn kinderen, mijn man, alle lieve mensen om mij heen en op mijzelf. Ik ga er voor ✨ 🌱 En een kleine note to self. Greatness betekent niet dat alles groot, groter, grootst moet maar juist dat de kleine dingen ook ervaren worden als grootsheid én in de grootsheid die zij vaak ook zijn. In het rimpel effect dat grootsheid heeft. Niet alleen op mijzelf maar op iedereen om mij heen. Greatness is ook voelen en accepteren wanneer het even niet gaat en om hulp vragen. Het niet alleen hoeven doen. Het uitbreiden van je supportgroep. Het investeren in jezelf. Dat je ook rust mag nemen en een bal mag laten vallen. Dat dat misschien nog wel meer greatness oplevert. 2024 wordt een jaar vol overvloed en greatness. In liefde, geluk, gezondheid en dingen die mij blij maken. Encourage Greatness. Ik ga er voor! Ja hoor, het is weer zo’n dag. Een dag die begint met gestampvoet, geschreeuw, ‘stop’, ‘ik wil niet naar school’ en tranen, veel tranen. Je kent ze vast wel. Ik voel de boosheid opborrelen en voordat ik het door heb schiet ik uit mijn slof. Het heeft me tot dan toe 45 minuten gekost en onze oudste is nog steeds in pyjama en begint net met haar boterham terwijl ze 5 minuten geleden al in de bakfiets had moeten zitten. Ze heeft me denk ik al minstens 5x verteld dat ze; toch niet naar me gaat luisteren, dat ze boos op me is, dat ik stom ben, en the list goes on. Dus ik ontplof. En dan ontploft zij weer. En in een soort kettingreactie blijven we boos doen naar elkaar. Totdat ze instort en alleen nog maar keihard kan huilen. Grote uithalen, groot verdriet. Maar we ‘moeten’ naar school. Dus, troosten, tanden op elkaar en hop in de bakfiets. Met veel lawaai hoor ik haar weggaan in de bakfiets 💔 Tuurlijk weet ik dat dit niet de manier is, dat ik alleen maar olie op het vuur gooi, dat ik de volwassene ben, maar soms, soms lukt dat niet. Soms ben ik ook gewoon boos. Dan raakt ze iets in mij. En als ze weg is baal ik. Ik baal van mijn reactie, van de andere opties die ik ook had kunnen kiezen maar niet koos, van het feit dat ik de schooltijd belangrijker maak dan de tranen van onze dochter, dat ik weer in mijn valkuil stap van brede schouders en gas geven in plaats van vertragen en even voelen. Ik weet het allemaal maar realiseer me dat ik ook maar gewoon een mens ben en geen supermoeder. Vorig jaar waren we nu in Thailand aan het genieten van elkaar, de zon en vooral alles zonder druk en stress. Wat verlang ik daar nu naar. Maar in plaats daarvan kies ik om aan de slag te gaan met mijn emoties want schijnbaar ben ik vandaag licht ontvlambaar 🧯Dus ik trek me even terug.
