I am sharing my now favorite spring drink sorrel Soda. Most of life it has been just the tasty sorrel drink for Christmas. Where you blend or soak the fruit skin(petals). But now since the beginning of spring I've been obsessed with soda like gingerale and the Sorrel soda. Even tried this recipe and declared it's my favorite sorrel Soda I have ever tasted so far for spring. Sorrel Soda recipe Ingredients For the Sorrel (hibiscus) syrup: ½ cup dried dried (hibiscus) flowers 1 ½ cups boiling water ¼ to ⅓ cup honey or organic cane sugar to your sweet tooth taste For each spritzer: 2 to 4 tablespoons hibiscus syrup see note About 6 ounces sparkling water I usually use lime flavored Ice to fill the glass Instructions Make the syrup: Pour boiling water over the Sorrel/ hibiscus flowers and let steep 20 minutes or up to an hour. Strain, pushing on the plumped flowers to extract maximum juice. Stir the honey into the liquid and reheat just enough to dissolve the honey completely. If you want to use the syrup right away, pour it into a metal container and place in an ice bath, stirring until the syrup is nice and cold. Make a spritzer: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour 2 (or more) tablespoons of syrup over the ice. Fill the glass to the top with sparkling water. Book break! 📖 I did my taxes today, so I earned it! I've kept an eye on Alix E. Harrow since her debut novel FLOORED me a few years ago. I'm just going to continue reading everything she writes, because she and her words keep intriguing and surprising me. I've been on the library waitlist for this one - her third novel - for a while, and I finally got my hands on it this week. It's the creepiest one yet! One of my favorite morning activities is sipping a pour-over cup of coffee and reading the @nytimes. Their design articles are marvelous. Yesterday I looked at a photo in an article on shower enclosures design. The marble was new to me: Arabescato Rosa marble. It was a delicate pink with beautiful charcoal veins. { se non ci fosse nessuno a guardarla, la bellezza sarebbe bella ugualmente? }⠀ ✾⠀ Non avevo mai visto un pavone bianco. Da centro-cittadina milanese neppure gli incontri coi pavoni normali sono all'ordine del giorno, però bianco non lo avevo proprio mai visto in vita mia. Sembra fatto di pizzo e merletti. Sarà che la mente è abituata ad associarlo in automatico a colori sgargianti, ma vederlo così all'inizio è destabilizzante per gli occhi, sembra quasi scolorito, sbiadito, candeggiato. Ma è incantevole, talmente bello che è stata l'unica eccezione in una gita senza foto, perché lasciare il cellulare in borsa durante i week end sta diventando una piacevole abitudine. La cosa che mi ha fatta riflettere è che mentre nel vederlo così noi tutti dicevamo in coro "ohhhhh" lui con la sua ruota aperta stava spaventando e allontanando altri animali. C'è qualcosa che mi ha profondamente colpita in questo, che va oltre la sua meraviglia e la mia sorpresa. Giro attorno a frasi come la bellezza è soggettiva, questione di punti di vista, tutto è relativo e altre cose del genere, ma non so ancora cosa esattamente mi abbia affascinato di quel momento. Forse è stato realizzare che in natura c'è così tanta bellezza, ma solo l'occhio umano è capace (a volte) di accorgersene e apprezzarla. Non so.. ci penso ancora un po', nel frattempo però mi è venuta una gran voglia di disegnarlo, ma questa è un'altra storia.
