What a great day at North Jax! Today, we enjoyed a multigenerational choir leading us in praise and worship. How incredible it was to see all ages lifting up their hearts and their voices! One of the many special things about North Jax is that our church ministers to all ages. Today was evidence of that. Pastor Herb Reavis preached another sermon in the "What Would Jesus Do" series, entitled, "Answer While You Can," from Mark 2. We were blessed to hear God's Word preached clearly and saw people make decisions for Christ. There's something wonderful going on at North Jax every week. Tonight, at 6:00 PM, we will be celebrating our high school and college graduates. It was another awesome day at North Jax! We had two incredible worship services, with powerful music and anointed preaching. Pastor Herb shared a message entitled "To Obey is the Best Way," from the continuing series, "What Would Jesus Do," and gave us wisdom straight from God's Word that we will take with us throughout the week. We also celebrated Bro. David Whipple's retirement after 22 years as the Asst. Pastor for Senior Adults at North Jax, 70 years in ministry, and 90 years on this planet! Bro. David's influence for Jesus is profound and those who have been blessed through his ministry are too many to count. Small Groups, from birth to senior adults, also took place at 9:45 AM today. It's in these smaller class settings that we share life with each other, we learn, and we laugh. If you aren't plugged into a small group, you really should be. Time will pass anyway 🙌🏾 🌅 🐶 . . . . Let me explain; Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Maybe you had your heart set on that big promotion that you didn’t get, the beautiful house you can’t afford, meeting the man/women of your dreams by a certain age but still being single, wanting a big family but still struggling with conceiving, or even having multiple health issues that affect your everyday life. We all have something going on. BUT, it’s how we choose to RESPOND to it that counts. The time will pass us by anyways, but you do get to choose how you want to spend that time. I personally, have had some pretty major setbacks in the last 2 weeks, on top of already existing health issues (if that’s what you call getting chemo 🤦🏽♀️🤣). HOWEVER, whilst I feel frustrated 😣 & continuously let down by my own body, I still choose, on the daily, to find the good in the day. Doesn’t have to be something major or of great significance. Can be as simple as this ☝🏽. Watching the sunrise & walking the beach 🏖️ with my handsome boys & having coffee with friends after. These are those “glimmer” moments I hold onto that help keep me resilient & strong, even when I don’t feel like it. 🩷 . . . . So choose wisely, try not to get caught up in the negative & appreciate the glimmering small moments of happiness that makes it all worth it, as the time will pass regardless. I just had to take a photo of my kitchen full of sunlight as it streamed through the kitchen windows….it’s only mid February yet it seems Spring like, I have always loved daffodils, they always cheer up any space and remind us that winter will soon be gone and we will see new leaves sprouting from the trees and hedges, the sight of a tiny leaf pushing its way out of a branch reminds us that anything is possible - ‘where there’s a will there’s a way’…. As I took the second photo I thought to myself it was a shame there were no squirrels or deer …no word of a lie a single young buck then literally ran at speed from the trees having obviously been disturbed, it is fascinating to see how alert they are, the slightest sound and they are off…. • When I Was A Part Time Painter (Sounds like a good book title!) 5 years ago I was very lucky to secure a much needed studio space @wypw - one of the best days ever! Moving from a tiny (and not cheap) office space above my hairdresser’s to West Yorkshire Print Workshop was a game changer. To be in a creative environment, surrounded by a ton of talent… pinch me. Back then I was painting as a sideline to my design work, never believing that I could possibly paint full time… fast forward five years with a pandemic thrown in and the studio certainly doesn’t look like this anymore! The lockdown was horrendous, no two ways about it but there are also many benefits - it gave me the shove I needed to invest in myself and pursue painting, for that I’m especially grateful. Reflecting back on that time, it was challenging sometimes. There were times when I thought I'd break. Times when I wasn't sure how to go through day to day. Now as I look back, I think about all those stories I heard along the way. I think about the growth that I did while away. I think about the person I became while there. Not just because I had to become that person, but because that person was always me, I just needed to find me. I may have been away from those I love, but at least I had my health and my freedom.
