In this season of change, we are contemplating what our next steps are with Lavender. We love her dearly, but sometimes the horse and rider need to be a perfect fit. My mom did all the ground work with her and even started her all by herself. I’ve helped them a long the way hoping to “install buttons” to make her into a really nice horse. That being said, my mom over the past year has realized her skills mainly lie with the ground work, and when it comes to riding, she doesn’t have the tool box or experience or desire to deal with the normalcies of riding a young horse. Our plan going forward is to board her somewhere with an indoor this winter so we can continue working with her, I will hope to work with her more frequently than I’ve been -which has been about once a week or so, and then decide if she is still a good fit for my mom or if someone younger and more skilled would like to team up with her and take her on. She is 6 years old and as far as mares go, she is so super sweet and calm. This is not an easy decision, and there will be strings attached as finding the most suitable partner for her is imperative. She was adopted from @theunwantedsproject so any change of ownership will have to happen with their approval. Just wanted to put that out there and see if anyone I know in the horse community has any interest in taking on a very straightforward and willing project/partner. If I didn’t live in another state, have a toddler and 3 other horses of my own, I would love to continue working with her and keep her for myself, but I barely have time for all of mine as it is.
